I like the song. It lays the foundation for an epic meaty Slash solo and he delivers. Writer/producer Mark Ronson knew what he was doing.

Stoked Johnny Blackout is on bass. Sad we didn’t get Rod Jackson on a track

Sucker train always reminded me of Don’t Damn Me. As for Bad Apples I’d be disappointed if I got it instead of Don’t Damn Me. Bad Apples & Shotgun Blues I always skip

Yes.
He did audition (or at least asked to try out) before they got Scott:

I remember when Todd auditioned for The Project. I was locked in to every single aspect of that band. Exciting times but heart breaking when Izzy ducked out

Here he is talking about VR 20:30 mark. Kelly is badass. Not a generic LA singer at all

With all that said kudos to Slash for learning and performing pedal steel. That takes some time and a lot of balls

It still apparently doesn't mean Slash would play the right solo
Yea it’s bad enough he doesn’t take the time to learn CD solos but his own solos? Dead Horse, Yesterdays & now Don’t Damn Me? Just proves how bored he is with anything old.

Slash wasn't all sober during some of the VR years. he was fucked up on oxy and drunk during some of that time.
That’s true. I was there for those shows when he was falling off stage. That’s why I specified the Libertad era

Slash was a better player while under the influence. Sober, not so much.
Not true he was at his best during VR Libertad era, Slash self tilted & early SMKC. All sober. He’s sucked since GN’R reunion

Their current photographer (Beta's nephew, I believe) still follows Kat.
That’s right. So why would the 2 women who have nothing to go with gnr be the ones to unfollow Kat?

They’re all like 12 year old girls 😂
My thought exactly. Of course GN’R’s current “Photographers” “Videographers” would unfollow their former photographer. I can only imagine the animosity & jealousy. The cat fighting that goes on over pictures and who got credited, who didn’t

Why would Kat do that? It would ruin her partnership with Aerosmith and AC/DC. She would be unemployed with zero chance of ever working with bands again.

This is why I’m done with this band. Nothing will be done this scum of a human being despite cancel culture

I love that solo too but I think the solo to Back And Forth Again is even more impressive.
100% Slash’s best

And have him boss around Axl, Slash and Duff? hahaha that dude tried to confront Slash for not consulting him on hiring a singer for SLASH'S Snakepit
They can handle being in a studio together for 3 weeks. Sorum is married with a kid. I’d bank on him being mature enough this go around to your every few yrs

Damn right. I also think that even if they wrote a song about getting drunk and crashing cars again with a blues-inspired hard rock riff, people would just say it's a "worse" Nightrain or It's So Easy.
They could easily bring Matt Sorum back and do Velvet Revolver 2.0 featuring Axl Rose and it would be more successful. Bang out a brand new record in 8months

Yea Danny. 2002 is a whole other story. I’m a Huge Bucket, Robin & Brain fan. What could’ve been. I was at MSG 2002 in the blizzard. The buzz was insane!

It should be a major criticism.
Axl & Slash haven't released original material together in 30 years and so far we have gotten a dribbling of filler level songs that are essentially discarded b-sides.
I weep at the way they have soiled what should have been a monumental moment when true "New" GNR material was heard by the world for the first time in 30 years.
They should have released nothing until they were ready to release a real single. Something that sounds like the GNR the world wants to hear.
I think about when there was the question of how they would follow up Appetite and show the world they were anything but one album wonders and You Could be Mine properly kicked the world's ass and cast aside any doubt.
With each bit of follow up filler they are releasing they are diluting the brand in the event they actually do want to release proper music at some point. When so much time had passed releasing filler one after another doesn't send the kind of message you would want to.
If Axl thought the world just had to hear this stuff include it in a future box set. Don't keep releasing sub par stuff that gives the world everything but the impression "we're back".
Well said. Like Hard Skool you will never hear this song played on radio after about 4-5 days of somewhat regular rotation. I’d be embarrassed to show this to friends

I think Perhaps is one of the best CD tracks (with Robin solo). In my perfect world, Axl Rose would have promoted the album, releasing TWAT as first single with epic UYI like music video, followed by Better, Street of Dreams, Catch in the Rye, and Prostitute. Music videos for all. And then CD II come out 2 to 3 years later with epic the General as first single, Perhaps, Atlass Shrugged, and who knows what else. What happened with Axl and GNR is absolute worst case scenario, ugh. I hate how Axl gave up and let himself go. I hate the reunion. I hate TB.
Radio was already dying then but that kind of proper promotion would’ve lead to Chinese Democracy, that era and that band getting a lot more mainstream praise and acknowledgment.
now 90% of rock fans don’t know it exists or care to find out
