  2. Hey, what about the Canada Cousins? Don’t give a toss about us, eh?

“Oh it’s the Canada Cousin..got a bit uppity, went off on it’s own. Forgot where it came from, it did! Well I for one won’t tolerate it. Pretend you don’t see it!’

    :P

  3. Haha, never thought I’d see the day when @SoulMonster is the conspiracy theorist! :D

The actual writer explained that the name came from the ‘get off yer duff and do something productive’ type of expression, but apparently the validity of that is still up for debate. Lol!

Very cool that he responded to you @Billy Cundy

    I believe. I believe!

I don't understand NASCAR it looks boring af.

It’s the crashes! ( where no one gets hurt of course). It’s the manoevering to move up and the blocking to keep your lead. That’s where it gets interesting. You should go to a live race. It’s the loud sound, the smell, the sheer crazy speed as they zip by you. Very thrilling!
And the GnR car looked so cool out there!

My buddy's son was in the US Army National Guard, and was honorably discharged after refusing to get the jab. A number of employers in the US have or had COVID vaccine requirements. (As did many colleges and universities) Some allow for exemptions, such as a religious exemption.

Thankfully, the place I work at didn't enact any such requirement. I told my boss I'd resign when he brought it up over lunch.

I wonder if your friends son can be reinstated now that they are starting to loosen the mandates? I know they are in some places and some professions like nursing.
Or maybe he wouldn’t want to go back now anyway.

  7. I disagree with the term ‘anti-vaxxer’ being thrown around so indiscriminately. Just because someone was hesitant about ‘this’ vacccine, doesn’t mean they are against vaccines in general. there were plenty of doctors and scientists who also were hesitant, and I’m quite sure they are not ‘anti-vax’ and I’m quite sure they know more than any of us on here.
it seems to be used to try and shut down meaningful discourse or undermine anything of value the other party might say or think.
As a matter of fact by generalizing all those who were hesitant as ‘those terrible anti vaxxers’ you are doing the same thing you are accusing @Oldest Goatof doing..that all woke-ism is an extreme movement gone awry with no inherent value. ( I’m not saying goat is actually doing that).  But you accuse the ‘far right’ of an ‘hey it’s a woke guy, don’t listen to him, get ‘im!’ Mentality..and you and many others are doing the same thing here with ‘hey it’s a guy who didn’t want the jab, it’s an anti-vaxxer, don’t listen to him, get ‘em ’ mentality.

Two problematic sides of the same coin.
Maybe the world would be a better place if we weren’t always so accusatory and actually listened to others.

  8. Also in Canada, if you were fired because you didn’t follow your employer’s vaccine mandate, not only did you lose your income, but you were also ineligible to receive EI ( our unemployment insurance) because of your refusal.  So I can certainly see how some people felt scared and intimidated into getting the vaccine.  (Moral feelings or issues aside.).

I don't think being vaccinated (in England)was mandatory in any job I'm aware of. I've not read or heard of anyone losing their job.

Really! Geez, was it just Canada then?!
Even  where I am now in the US, in a supposedly ‘red’ state, our employer sent out a letter that said we were required to get vaxxed in order to stay employed and made us photocopy our vax cards that went into our file. Now, eventually the threat of unemployment went away and they never did fire anyone who didn’t get it, but they sure were leaning that way in the beginning.

I haven't disregarded any consequences. I acknowledge the restrictions has led to a lot of problems. But there is no doubt in my mind that for the most part they made sense and were right.

I mostly agreed with everything you said except "trying to intimidate the entire population and forcing people to get vaccinated out of fear of losing their freedom, jobs and livelihood", which tells me that we live in very different worlds because there hasn't been anything like that here in Norway.

I’m curious, did Norway not require those working in hospitals, banks, travel sector, and even some private businesses, to get vaccinated or lose their jobs?
Could you travel on trains and buses throughout your own country without being vaccinated?
If you didn’t have these restrictions, you did indeed have a different experience!

  11. Yes, I do think you could be experiencing ptsd.
The delay is possibly bc you were just in shock for a while, at how close you came to death. That sounds very blunt, I’m sorry, but that is something very hard to face, and just the blessing that you were alive may have been all you were ready to handle at that time.
Your perspective has since shifted, and that’s ok..but I do strongly encourage you to speak with a professional to explore the feelings you are going through now..all of which is completely understandable and natural.. but you want to ensure you work through them in a healthy way, and not become stuck in a negative type of pattern.
I wish you all the best, you have been through quite a lot!

Exactly, what do you know? Not much it seems. I read a lot of GnR forums, so where does this ''spying'' nonsense come from? When Action said that I appear to have a negative aura around me, which was kinda funny to be honest, I couldn't help but think about all the negativity and insults towards this board and its posters he constantly expressed on other GnR forums. I thought it was quite ironic to see him of all people make such a comment. So asking him why he is here if he has such a problem with this forum, is a fair question. Very fair it seems, because he can't even seem to answer it. Maybe because he's a troll? I really don't know. If you bothered to read this forum, you would have known that Action has had ''issues'' with a lot of posters on here. Not just me. But good for you to stick up for him. Congratulations.

I see what you wrote, but what I read was

    ‘Merry Christmas!’
so  Merry Christmas to you too EvanG.

It is clear that having socially distanced ourselves for a long time, our immune systems have not been exposed to many of the circulating diseases and hence we get them now.

Yes I’m sure this is part of it too. Although I did work through the entire pandemic so whatever was out there ( probably not as much as per the reasons you mentioned) I was most likely exposed to.
Conversely, my husband has never been healthier! Maddening. 😄

  14. My goodness @EvanG what is going on with you? There may be some mean-spirited people on here, but I wouldn’t have pegged you for one! And as far as calling someone out for being on this forum they supposedly hate, you are obviously going to whatever other one you are talking about, just to spy or something I guess, in order to call them out here? Doesn’t seem very nice to me, but hey, what do I know.

As for Covid, I don’t know whether it was the vax, or the virus that I did catch, or all the mask wearing or a combination of it all ..but my immune system has never been worse. Going to have to work hard to try and build it back up again. I wonder if anyone else has noticed anything similar.

Yeah, mine too, but not with a wire! Even they have upgraded by now.

Oh, I didn’t know what you meant by a wire, ( still don’t 😃) I just thought  you meant land line .

You still have a phone with a wire? Only in Belgium...

Hey my parents still have a land line! Don’t most of our parents thiugh? 😄

This is a discussion forum. We don't meet people here, we meet their opinions. For all I know action is an okay human being in real life, but I don't know and I don't care. His opinions, thoughts and ideas are regularly half-baked if not entirely wrong and he seems to cherish the opportunity to spread falsehoods and outright lies. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about that, especially in a discussion literally about life and death, and we should never let this go uncontested because maybe, just maybe, he is okay outside of the forum.

Sorry, I have absolutely no idea how this pertains to what I said about society.

But yes, this is a discussion forum..not a medical protocol forum.

  18. Ah, ok. That makes sense. See people? There is always a reason for things, not just necessarily being a ‘troll.’

@action I wish society these days coykd accept when others have differing opinions, without changing how we feel about that person in their ‘entirety’. It’s like we overlook all their good qualities if they don’t share the same view on things that we give great credence to.
Also, it can be very hard to admit we were wrong about something, or that our opinion about something has changed or evolved. So then we pretend we never had that former opinion at all! But it’s ok to change our minds on things.

  19. If Soulmonster would quit ‘pouncing’ on Action since he has done since the beginning of this pandemic ( even though original scientific consensus about the virus and how to stop it has been ratified since 2020 ) then Action probably wouldn’t feel the need to double down quite as strongly as he does.
Just my two cents but carry on :P
