The sad fact is they could have easily put out an album in 2020/21 that consisted of
Hardskool
Absurd
Soul Monster
The General
Perhaps
Atlas Shrugged
Witchita Lineman
Chip Away (duff song)
And said these were axls favourites left over from CD era, updated with the current band with the current main new cover song they've been touring (and that axl sounds good on) and the best duff song released in 20+ years. 8 songs, boom new gnr. That would have sufficed. Smashing pumpkins, Foo fighters, metallica have done 8 track albums, no law says albums need 12-15 songs on them. we know (potentially) all these songs were done around 2020 during lockdowns. That's why Fuck GnR. Fuck TB. Fuck Axl. It isnt hard to give the fans a bone, get this shit out.
Pretty much. If a worldwide pandemic, where everything else in the world stopped, couldn't even get them to record/mashup an entire album of leftover/bullshit songs, then they ain't going into the studio next year to do one either. They could've just submitted ideas over Zoom for fuck's sake. The world gave them an excuse to not even choke each other out for being in the same studio.
Instead, they are now piecemealing a whole EP of 4-5 songs (maybe) over, how many years? 4? 5? 6? The reason people get frustrated with this band is because people want to see some simple effort, and not just getting charged up the ass for live shows and outrageously hideous merchandise. People will still go for it. I don't even blame them at this point, since it could be the last we even see of them. But that's how they're going to get you.

Myles Kennedy has all the charisma of a piece of cardboard. He can hit notes, sure, but it is the most soulless, least inspiring, most tame and lame rock voice I’ve ever heard.
Axl, Mickey or not, still has moments of transcendence. Myles never got off the ground.
Bingo.

Still thinking about that "trying to get a single out" comment. I'm imagining a room full of scientists, looking over various heated coloured liquids, trying to create the perfect formula for music release.
I think that lab has already exploded.

This band doesn’t make sense. Touring endlessly isn’t momentum. Momentum would be coming out with a beast of a single at the start of the reunion and then unleashing an equally beast-like album right after. Everyone talked about how Glasto was the momentum. Now the NA tour is the new momentum.
The time for momentum has long passed. Which is fine. It doesn’t even matter. Just release some good music and momentum is obsolete. They’re not gonna tear up the charts here. Just show everyone what you can do.

I want to be hopeful here. They've been back together since 2016, they all have material and it seems they're working on it. This time, there's no law suits, no people in and out, no doing and redoing stuff. So, I'd say, if there's no falling out, there will be a new album in 2 or 3 years.
Their tour is going really well, so they have to take this momentum.
What momentum? I agree that this would be a great time, if they actually wanted to release an album and not tour endlessly.

Ah yes. The newest “very soon” quote lol. Next week, it’ll be “imminent.” The week after, it’ll be “on the cusp of releasing.” Next month, “it’s close!”
At least these random quotes keep this thread afloat.

We talked about that too, Slash didn't need GnR in order to pay for the divorce.
Certainly doesn’t hurt though. Whether he needs it or not isn’t even relevant. The timing speaks for itself.

Again, I don't think they're teasing us, we just happened to see it because we're looking for it. If they were teasing us I think it would be a little bit more obvious.
I don’t think anything GNR have ever done is obvious, other than Slash reuniting to pay for his divorce. I wouldn’t expect them to change course at this point.

Feels like the IG image is just a troll at this point. They know how to build hype for their fanbase, I’ll give them that. If only they could, you know, follow through. Ever.

The crews are probably filming a special on bands who don’t release music.

It’s honestly annoying that we have to keep drumming up the same story about them releasing shit to spark interest in a tour that’s had less interest than they wanted to begin with. Maybe if they had just done an arena tour, they wouldn’t need to find the exact minute to release these songs in order to arouse enthusiasm for shows.
In other words, just release the bloody music. If we get The General, I can at least give them some credit.
-
Wish they would just come out and say it. If it’s just some shitty reworked song, then spilling the beans in German media wouldn’t really be a big deal. They can be all secretive and hush hush when it’s a new album.

does anyone think as as me tha "absusd-hard school- perhaps" are the worst song exepct "my word" that GNR ever did ?
Not quite, but they're up there. HS is great in the leak, but the released version robs every single aspect of that demo version. Completely soulless.

Genuinely better than hard skool
Probably because it doesn’t sound like a two-year old mixed it.

They were probably listening to an alternate mix of Jungle or something.

Should I have added a smiley after my post to make it clear I was being tongue-in-cheek?
I'm clearly a grumpy prick when it comes to new GNR music.

If you are going to wait until it really happens to get excited, it would be no fun being a GN'R fan.
It's not fun being a GNR fan. Not with regards to new music, at least.
I can't listen to forum posts and pictures of members in studios. I can only listen to music. When it's released, I'll be happy to absorb it all. Until then, they could easily listen to mixes, hate them, scrap them, and then rework things for another 5-6 years. We don't know anything until it's actually listenable.

ah, they're not here anymoreLol there still isn't any music. We're still waiting, just like we have been. Once they release something, then we can get excited about music.

Not gonna get my hopes up. It's probably just some separate story about a general that Axl likes to read during soundcheck.

Probably a My World/Get In The Ring/Shotgun Blues/So Fine medley.
