I don't think the lyrics are about a single subject. It's likely they were combed together from different ideas and things Axl was writing about at the time, which were loosely connected thematically. Axl has written like that before. For example, in the (underrated and misunderstood) lyrics of Right Next Door To Hell, the first verse is Axl reflecting on what happened with Steven, the second verse is reflecting on his childhood and how fame affected his old relationships, the third verse about the band's rise to fame and the chorus about his neighbour.

There are some common things in Perhaps and other songs, for example that the narrator can't or wouldn't want to be like a certain "you" (The Blues/Street of Dreams) or someone carrying weight upon their shoulders (Atlas Shrugged). So there probably are two or three different themes in the verse and another theme on the chorus that are somehow connected with each other. There are certainly some very interesting lines, especially the ones where the narrator appears apologetic. I could attempt a line by line interpretation, but I'd feel a bit ridiculous analyzing the lyrics to Perhaps like it was Shakespeare - maybe another time

I'd love if you'd do that. You're actually somewhat knowledgeable. 😅 And of course such interpretations can't be taken too seriously, because we simply just don't know.

Who or what is Perhaps even about??!?!?

    Perhaps I was wrong
When I didn't see you, hey, hey
    Perhaps I was wrong, hey
When I don't believe you <-- Who is "you"!? Who is he not seeing and believing? (haha there's that phrase where "seeing is believing", but he did neither)

But how would I know how it feels
Or what it takes to be you? <- Are these lines said in genuine, or out of bitterness, or sarcasm? Is the other person doing such extraordinary / shocking feats that the singer is wondering what it takes to be that person?
    I've been so upset
Harboring this hate for days  <- who is the singer hating on? why?

    Hey, my sense of rejection
    Hey, hey
Is no excuse for my behavior, hey
You pulled the gun, hey, hey
That shot and crucified my savior <- Who is the saviour? Who is shooting Jesus? Or since the Beatles said they were bigger than Jesus, and John Lennon was killed by a gun, and i heard the Catcher in the Rye song is about John Lennon.... :P:P:P But what is going on there? There's the narrator, the shooter, and the saviour, who is now dead??? Why is the shooter shooting the saviour? Was the narrator so annoying due to their sense of rejection that the shooter decided to shoot the saviour to piss the narrator off or something?

Now he is no more and I am without you, <- is the shooter and the saviour the same person, so the gunman shooting himself eliminates both people, or did the shooter shoot the saviour and run away?
    Just like I was before
The way I used to be, hey
What a weight upon your shoulders that you don't need
My heart bleeds for me  <- the narrator is feeling sorry for himself for being shrugged off weight by the other person?

Got a lot more than I bargained for
You're all alone now <- Who is "you" directed at? Himself, or the other person?
You forgot about the others you were fighting for <- Why switch from I to you? Why is this person fighting for some people, then forgot about them?
    You're all alone
Ooh, sold out to the ones that you once ignored <- Who's the sellout? Selling to who?
    You're all alone now
You used to be a little crazy, now there's so much more <- Is the singer the crazy one, or is the "you" the crazy and lonely one?
    You're all alone

It's about Slash of course! 🤣

I don't really believe that's the case, but Zutaut's crazy story about Axl believing Slash's soul left his body after his overdose in 91 pops up in my mind. 😂

And obviously I don't know anything about the timeline, but didn't Slash go to see Axl and he wouldn't and there was a bitter press release. 😅

Obviously I don't know what I'm talking about. But I like the song and the lyrics.

As a child I fell in love with this song instantly. I remember it distinctly: I was five years old, driving around in a 2CV with some of my mum's Hippie friends.

  4. Black Celebration is one of my all time favorite albums.

What a run of great albums they had! Black Celebration, Music For The Masses, Violator, Songs Of Faith And Devotion, Ultra, Exciter, Playing The Angel.... they lost me a little bit after that..  but what a run of great records!

  5. I love Veli Lošinj on the island Lošinj in Croatia. I often go back. Last summer I traveled Croatia extensively and it still was my favorite place. Most of what I've seen was gorgeous though.

Surprised by the beauty of the Gacka Valley near Plitvice.

Breathtakingly beautiful cities like Trogir, Dubrovnik and Split.

Krk City was quite nice too. Nice beaches and a lovley old town. Rab also.

Italy I know much less. Rome is a beautiful city. Stunning. Florence is beautiful too.

I really like Grado a small town at the Adriatic Sea in the north east of Italy. Nice beaches. Medieval city center.

I've been to some Greek Islands, but Samothrake has made the biggest impression. Wild, beautiful nature. Far east. You can't go there by plane. You have to take a ferry.
