  1. I know there are some RHCP fans that are miffed at the fact that there is no title, no track list, and no artwork for their album that was put up for pre-order a few days ago. No context other than there is an album coming out. And yet they are still better off than Guns N’ Roses fans. We have reached 500 pages discussing an album that we don’t even know exists. Our latest exploit is studying literal codes to see if these numbers have any meaning toward even the mere existence of an album. It’s sad and hilarious all at once.
  2. This tour really has been such a blast to follow; probably the most fun for me personally since 2016-2017. The band deserves kudos for the changes they made this tour and the effort they put into every performance despite all the challenges I’m sure they faced as a large traveling operation during this pandemic. They really made a lot of people happy doing these shows (myself included). For the first time in forever, there seems to be quite a lot of goodwill between the fans and the band. I just really really hope they don’t piss it away. I don’t know what’s next, but I think I’ll take anything over total silence (though unfortunately this is what we all have to prepare ourselves for. This is Guns N’ Roses, after all). I will say this: despite all the commotion with the Hard Skool “EP” release, the long-term goal remains the same: the release of a new album.
  3. I’ve never traveled out-of-state for a concert before (though I’ve been pretty fortunate that I’ve never really had too). But there’s a first time for everything! Things fell into place and I was able to make it happen. Excited for the show tonight.
  4. Just think about how far we've come... The leaked snippet in 2006 as Checkmate, the Axl chats in 2008 calling Checkmate a bullshit title with first Jackie Chan mention and going by that title, the extended leak in 2019 followed by the full track leak where we learned it was Hard School, the song appearing on the alt setlist just weeks after, Axl sounchecking the song in Mexico 2020, fast-forwarding to the last week or so with that girl meeting Axl, the Spotify algorithm, the Slash TikTok, the LinkShare going live...it's all led up to today. Regardless of what people think of the song, the fact that it was even released at all is incredible. What a victory for us all.
  5. So IF they debut it tonight, do we think they will play it for the remainder of the dates on the tour? Or would they alternate?
  6. I almost can’t believe this is even real. After all this time…we FINALLY got Hard Skool. I never gave up hope on this song being released and/or being played live and here we are today. WE MADE IT. I know there are lots of different opinions on the track, but let’s enjoy this moment! We deserve it.
  7. I’m just the same as you, believe me. That first show back in 2019 with the song in the alt setlist and everybody freaking out about it, only for it to not be played feels like child’s play compared to where we’re at now. If it’s any consolation, the US tour (and probably the rest of the shows in 2021) is almost over so at least our suffering will also end soon enough.
  8. This. I’m just as annoyed, tired, disappointed, and frustrated as everybody else that they haven’t played the song, but deep down I know this is why (or at least, what I believe). I guess I’m just really empathetic when it comes to stuff like this. I get it. I foolishly am still holding out hope. We might get lucky one of these last handful of shows and Axl is just really feeling it and we finally get the debut. We’ll see.
  9. Yes, another Hard Skool thread. But it's just something I was thinking about. If we think back to Appetite and Illusions, we know they played a lot of those songs before the albums were released so it's not like there was a lot of prior knowledge on some of those tracks. The closest I can think of is the 2006 leaks and the Hammerstein shows. I wasn't a fan yet so I can't speak from experience, but I would imagine the buzz of possibly getting to hear those tracks live for the first time was insane. For that matter, I'll even add the 2009 Asia tour since these were the first set of shows after CD was finally released. But here we are in 2021 with Hard Skool. Rock publications are talking about this song. People who don't even closely follow the band have heard about this song. Then you have us who have waited and waited and waited (and waited...). This song is not some secret anymore like it once was. Has there ever been this much hype for one GN’R song to be played live?
  10. Just chipping in with some news related to this. Who knows if it means anything at all though. Lana Del Rey officially released her newest single ‘Arcadia’ last week. Days before the release (I’d say a week max iirc), fan accounts were reporting that when they typed in Arcadia in the Spotify search bar (again, before it was officially released), Lana Del Rey had already popped up as a top result. Not saying it’s the same thing here, but I just thought I’d mention it.
  11. God forbid an attractive young woman meets her favorite rockstar. I’m happy for her! What a cool moment.
  12. It makes me so happy to see Axl so happy. Good for him.
  13. I kid you not, of my co-workers (who’s been a fan of the band since AFD) went to the Vegas show and when we where talking about our show experiences, legitimately thought Richard Fortus was Izzy. I literally had to explain to him like, “no man, that’s Richard Fortus; he’s been with the band for 20 years.” He also didn’t know who Frank Ferrer was, so there’s that. It’s just funny to step back and realize that again, we make up such a small portion of the overall fanbase. For every one of us, there are thousands like my co-worker.
  14. I’m still on a high from the show last night. Like many on here, I follow all the shows on the tour. I can nitpick with the best of them about Axl’s vocals, the setlist, etc. And I do think it’s valid meaning everyone is entitled to their opinions and thoughts on these topics. We’re hardcore fans, after all. But for me personally, last night was just everything for me. I mean, I was front row on the rail, right in the middle. The view alone would’ve made the night a 10/10. But then yes, Axl waved at me twice. During Estranged and during Patience. This isn’t the first time he’s waved at me so the fact that it has happened again, well, I don’t know how he does it, or how I do it, but he’s been able to spot me out (it probably helps I’m acting like a lunatic lol). It just makes me so happy. I mean, this is Axl Rose, my favorite frontman and artist of all-time. It’s such a small thing for him to do but means everything to me. He is very very interactive with the fans in the front and it’s all very genuine, you can just tell. He and the whole band were having a blast last night. Before November Rain, Axl plopped himself up on top of his piano and just sprawled himself out for no apparent reason other than just having a good time. I can’t remember after which song it was, but he randomly sang the lyric “deep in the heart of Texas.” He said little quips like that all night. Yes it was the same old setlist, but seeing as I haven’t heard these songs live in a long time, I was okay with not getting Hard Skool. It’s pretty funny though because as much as we bitch about the covers, Axl was clearly SO into performing Wichita Lineman and The Seeker. He sounds good on them too, so that’s nice. It really is awe-inspiring to see Slash and Duff so up close. They are masters of their craft and getting to see it and hear it so up close was just awesome. They were also having a blast all night. I mean, smiles had by all. And that’s really what it’s all about, right? Especially in these times. So…I guess that’s it for my review. I tend to go on and on but in a nutshell: I had a blast, the band had a blast, and it’s just what I needed. I’ll see y’all next in the next show thread as we continue to beg for Hard Skool.
  15. Back in the hotel and I’m EXHAUSTED. But wow. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better first show back. I’m happy beyond what words can express. I REALLY needed that. I’m going to write a whole wall of text tomorrow for my review, but for now, I’ll just give the biggest highlight of the night: AXL WAVED AT ME. TWICE. 😭 I’ll go into more detail tomorrow, but yeah, I’m basically never getting over it and I’m so happy about it.
  16. I’m on the rail and I’m right in the middle, so…I’d say pretty freakin’ good. I’m pretty sure this is the best view I’ve had for a GN’R show.
  17. I’m still shocked at how and why it happened to me (I’m very grateful more than anything), but I have managed a pit ticket for the show tonight thanks to the generosity of another individual. This will be my first concert in almost two years and I’ll be seeing my favorite band of all-time. Honestly…I’m just so excited. I really need this.
  18. Axl is really excited for the show tonight…
  19. I’m pretty sure this is the first time Hard Skool soundcheck has come directly from Meegan. So that’s cool, I guess. Did anyone see Axl in that clip? Maybe it’s because I’m trying so hard to temper my expectations and not get my hopes up, but there’s just no way Axl would debut a new song (especially this one) without soundchecking it first.
  20. It’s encouraging to know they rehearsed Hard Skool in L.A. but I think we all know it really doesn’t mean anything unless Axl is there. I would be very surprised if they debuted the song without an Axl rehearsal beforehand. It’s still early in Vegas though, so we’ll see what happens at soundcheck.
  21. Any updates on soundcheck yet or is it still early? I’d imagine if they do debut Hard Skool tonight, we’ll hear it (with Axl vocals) at soundcheck.
