  1. Regardless of what Axl did or didn't do, I don't understand how these sudden changes in statutes of limitations are legal. There is a clear prohibition against ex post facto laws in the US (and I assume all state's) constitution. If there was a 10 year (or whatever) statute of limitations when the act occurred, it isn't legal to change that and apply it retroactively.
  2. Some parts yes but a lot of it Axl is singing notes that harmonize with the instrumentals. The chorus is "sung" on the album as are a lot of the lines like the "it's only for a while..." verses and the similar alternate lyrics verses as well as the slow parts. Todd talk sung the whole thing. My point isn't to criticize Todd. I'm glad Slash is performing DDM and Todd is providing decent vocal accompaniment. My main point is that Axl would be criticized by many if GNR did the song and he performed it the exact same way. Axl gets criticized for skipping words in the YCBM bridge and it is impossible to sing DDM at the album tempo without dropping some words for breath so he'd be criticized for that. I'm sure he'd also be criticized for "Mickey" on the "I know you don't wanna hear me cryin'..." part because he'd probably do that in the "clean" voice.
  3. I'm a basketball fan and I've not watched more than 5 minutes of the WNBA combined since it started. Women's basketball is not the same as men's. They just don't have the strength and athleticism to do the things that make NBA basketball a "show." Most people don't watch basketball to see a perfect screen and roll execution. They watch because Lebron might tomahawk dunk over Giannis. That doesn't happen in the WNBA.
  4. Yes, that was my point along with that if Axl performed DDM exactly the same way, this forum would be filled with critical posts. Todd also skips some words in order to have the breath to get the lyrics out just like Axl does in the live performances of the YCBM bridge and people negatively comment about that almost every show.
  5. JBJ didn't seem like he could sing anything in any part of his range. Videos I've watched sounded like bad Karaoke. Axl doesn't sound like he did 30 years ago but at least a decent part of his range is recognizable. I'm not sure Axl's issues are the same. It might just be age related degradation and changing of the vocal chords, not necessarily damage.
  6. I disagree. Most of Todd's delivery was basically talk singing like Axl does at the end of Coma and people always make negative comments about that.
  7. While it is great to hear this played live because I love the instrumentals, listening to the full version, I'm not sure I'd say Todd really "sings" most of the song. Let's just say Axl would be criticized a lot if GNR did the song and Axl performed it like that. That said, I'd love for GNR to incorporate it into the set with Duff on vocals and maybe Melissa doubling up on the high parts. It's a great song and sucks that they've never performed it live. It is 100% impossible for one vocalist to sing it like it is on the record. Nobody has enough breath to sing through the length required with no breaks to breathe.
  8. It isn't terrible but it isn't really "good" either. I guess it's OK. I don't think I'll be viewing it regularly. As for the song, it just hit me watching the video. It sounds like an Aerosmith album filler song with Axl doing guest vocals because of Steven Tyler's vocal chord issues.
  9. Very impressive that he had the breath to seemingly sing all the lyrics.
  10. Maybe Axl will see this an be inspired to make the next album: Merry f'n Christmas! They can compete with Mariah Carey.
  11. Honestly, the marathon shows are part of what makes GNR what they are. If they shortened them a little by cutting down RQ and KOHD by a few minutes each it would be fine but I'd be very disappointed in a 2 1/2 hour GNR show if I was there.
  12. Nobody can possibly answer that unless they've been to every GNR show in history. For all we know, one of their club gigs before they even recorded demos was the greatest ever. Even if somebody had attended them all, it would still just be one person's opinion.
  13. How about, "I've been thinkin' bout thinkin' bout sex but I haven't checked the mailbox for the viagra yet?" I agree, that any new lyrics should be written from an adult perspective and not a teenager perspective. Otherwise, it isn't authentic at all. My only request is for them not to do a "being famous is a pain, poor me" song that many like to do at some point in their career.
  14. Absurd is fun live at a show. The studio version I wouldn't care if I never heard again.
  15. Just gave it my first listen. The mix is godawful. The effects they put on the vocals is even worse. Yikes! Hardskool, Perhaps and even Absurd I could get into a little bit. This is almost painful to listen to because of the mix and effects.
  16. All I will say at this point is that Fernando deserves the chance to defend himself and have his day in court. We shouldn't just assume that accusations are true nor should we dismiss them as untrue. Let the case progress and let a judge and jury decide what is true. If the accusations are proven in court (based on preponderance of the evidence and not beyond a reasonable doubt because it is civil court) then the appropriate punishment by his employer can be discussed. The reaction shouldn't be "Fernando is an asshole who treats people poorly so therefore he must have done everything Kat accused him of."
  17. How much does the microphone weight? I had an orbital fracture in my teens caused by a high speed collision at a baseball practice where a taller players shoulder hit my face. It takes a significant force to fracture those bones. My instinct would say that you'd have to really throw the mic hard and would have to make a direct hit to possibly cause these injuries claimed.
  18. The title of this thread should have been truncated to: "Will the new album be?" The answer is not likely.
  19. I disagree. The turmoil going on in Axl's life added to the artistic output that was on the UYI albums. For instance, we'd never have gotten the epic masterpiece Estranged if Axl wasn't going through a bunch of shit at the time he wrote it. Just a little nitpick to your hypothetical story, if Axl's mom said something like you suggested she would have called Axl "Billy or William." He didn't become "Axl" until it would have been way too late to stop the childhood abuse.
  20. Nobody outside of super fans would notice the drummer is different if Frank didn't have a darker complexion than Steven and Matt. Probably half the audience at any show thinks Richard has been there since the 80s and don't know Izzy's name.
  21. I think you are onto something. The times I've seen them in Florida, Axl always sounds above average for the time period. Lord knows it's humid here!
  22. I saw too much of Axl in the biker shorts days!
  23. There's exactly one person on stage that I would like to witness have a wardrobe malfunction and it definitely isn't Slash! Note: This is coming from a straight male.
  24. If an artist's goal is to make a good living off of their art they have to make compromises. If they just want to make art to express themselves they can do whatever they want. If buying a ton of records and continuing to pay to go see concerts is the sign of being treated poorly by a fan base then I guess Taylor Swift is a victim of abuse compared to Axl! How has the fanbase treated him poorly (other than some complaining about his voice at 54-61 years old on the internet).
