Well, I don't think this is anything other than securing a URL for potential use in the future. Like his official TikTok page. Or Instagram. Both of which he never uses.
You don't have to put a website on a URL to secure it. You just need to register the domain name and keep paying to renew it.

Books, in particular biographies, that are getting released for the key end of year/Christmas market tend to get launched around this time of year.
Live Nation's involvement also gives creedence to the book theory when considering the corresponding interview/spoken world tours that Bono, Bruce Dickinson, Bruce Springsteen and Dave Grohl have all done in recent years.
The counter argument is that I can't imagine Axl Rose ever signing up for something like that.
Maybe Axl's book of rants or something where they transcribe his stage rants with some sort of introductory chapter but I can see him doing an authorized biography.

Maybe they'll add a paid membership forum and Axl will interact on it?

I'm with you, the attempts to raise the retirement age are unacceptable. I'm just concerned with the societal tendency to engage in mystical thinking, whether about premonitions/predictions or other things.
The problem is that it is not financially sustainable to both provide the healthcare for people 65+ that leads to longer lifespans AND fund those additional years in retirement at the same time that population growth is slowing. The lifespan increase combined with slowing population growth combine to lower the ratio of elderly benefit recipients to taxpayers funding the benefits.
At some point either you have to lower the benefits or raise the age to receive the benefits. You can't possibly "tax the rich" enough to avoid that choice. The third choice is to borrow more money to pay for the benefits but that has consequences in inflation. When social security was conceived, the life expectancy was much different. From Bing AI/Copilot:
QuoteAccording to the CDC.gov tables, the average life expectancy in the US in 1935 was 61.7 years1. This was before the enactment of the Social Security Act, which set the minimum age for receiving retirement benefits at 65 years2. At that time, life expectancy at birth for men and women was 60 and 64 years, respectively2. Today, Social Security full retirement benefits are payable at age 67 years for anyone born in 1960 or later, which is well below today's life expectancy at birth for men and women, 76 and 81 years, respectively2.
It was never envisioned for people to be collecting social security for decades which is not unusual now. It also wasn't envisioned for the birth rate to slow or so many labor tasks to be replaced by machines and other technology. When Social Security was enacted, elevators still had operators.

Izzy would come back if he gets equal pay and Steven wants to come back so badly, he'd come back for peanuts. 💡
Steven would work for weed AND peanuts but not just peanuts!

Too bad he didn't predict that there would only be one more Guns n' Roses studio album after UYI (2 if you count TSI) so that fans could have been prepared.

I about lost it before Nice Boys when Axl said that they get accused of doing too many covers. I guess the more things change the more they stay the same!

Regardless of what Axl did or didn't do, I don't understand how these sudden changes in statutes of limitations are legal. There is a clear prohibition against ex post facto laws in the US (and I assume all state's) constitution. If there was a 10 year (or whatever) statute of limitations when the act occurred, it isn't legal to change that and apply it retroactively.

That's how the studio version is. The song is talk-sang.
Some parts yes but a lot of it Axl is singing notes that harmonize with the instrumentals. The chorus is "sung" on the album as are a lot of the lines like the "it's only for a while..." verses and the similar alternate lyrics verses as well as the slow parts. Todd talk sung the whole thing.
My point isn't to criticize Todd. I'm glad Slash is performing DDM and Todd is providing decent vocal accompaniment. My main point is that Axl would be criticized by many if GNR did the song and he performed it the exact same way. Axl gets criticized for skipping words in the YCBM bridge and it is impossible to sing DDM at the album tempo without dropping some words for breath so he'd be criticized for that. I'm sure he'd also be criticized for "Mickey" on the "I know you don't wanna hear me cryin'..." part because he'd probably do that in the "clean" voice.

I don't know, I could imagine Axl singing a medley of Absurd, Perhaps, and The General while wearing an oversized Breanns Stewart jersey.
That was the NFL Superbowl. So I think this would be different. Axl would probably suck it up if it meant getting to be involved in the WNBA final. He is a huge basketball fan.
I'm a basketball fan and I've not watched more than 5 minutes of the WNBA combined since it started. Women's basketball is not the same as men's. They just don't have the strength and athleticism to do the things that make NBA basketball a "show."
Most people don't watch basketball to see a perfect screen and roll execution. They watch because Lebron might tomahawk dunk over Giannis. That doesn't happen in the WNBA.

People can talk in different registers. I think the point is that it doesn't have sustained notes like typical singing.
Yes, that was my point along with that if Axl performed DDM exactly the same way, this forum would be filled with critical posts.
Todd also skips some words in order to have the breath to get the lyrics out just like Axl does in the live performances of the YCBM bridge and people negatively comment about that almost every show.

Do we think Axl would ever come out and say this. JBJ has admitted he couldn't sing anymore and also the reason for it, he's now had this drastic surgery to try to get back to his best and if it doesnt work, he won't fleece the fans with him not being able to sing. Should Axl try something similar
ps. please no one jump in and say Axls voice is fine he sounds great blah blah, it's shot to pieces unless singing baritone. obv age plays a part but if he could get back to 2010 levels that would be incredible, so hopefully he does acknowledge the issue and then try to fix it, especially with GnR talking at least 12-18 months off. what better time?
Jon Bon Jovi addresses vocal issues and vows not to tour unless he sounds 'great'
"If I can't be great, I'm out"
JBJ didn't seem like he could sing anything in any part of his range. Videos I've watched sounded like bad Karaoke. Axl doesn't sound like he did 30 years ago but at least a decent part of his range is recognizable. I'm not sure Axl's issues are the same. It might just be age related degradation and changing of the vocal chords, not necessarily damage.

What? If Axl could do it as good as Todd everybody would be more than happy.
I disagree. Most of Todd's delivery was basically talk singing like Axl does at the end of Coma and people always make negative comments about that.

Not sure if it was posted before, but in Colombia they played the song and Slash improvised the solo again. Safe to assume that it wasn't a mistake, he just wanted to play it different.
While it is great to hear this played live because I love the instrumentals, listening to the full version, I'm not sure I'd say Todd really "sings" most of the song. Let's just say Axl would be criticized a lot if GNR did the song and Axl performed it like that.
That said, I'd love for GNR to incorporate it into the set with Duff on vocals and maybe Melissa doubling up on the high parts. It's a great song and sucks that they've never performed it live. It is 100% impossible for one vocalist to sing it like it is on the record. Nobody has enough breath to sing through the length required with no breaks to breathe.

It isn't terrible but it isn't really "good" either. I guess it's OK. I don't think I'll be viewing it regularly. As for the song, it just hit me watching the video. It sounds like an Aerosmith album filler song with Axl doing guest vocals because of Steven Tyler's vocal chord issues.
-
Very impressive that he had the breath to seemingly sing all the lyrics.

Maybe Axl will see this an be inspired to make the next album:
Merry f'n Christmas!
They can compete with Mariah Carey.

Honestly, the marathon shows are part of what makes GNR what they are. If they shortened them a little by cutting down RQ and KOHD by a few minutes each it would be fine but I'd be very disappointed in a 2 1/2 hour GNR show if I was there.

Nobody can possibly answer that unless they've been to every GNR show in history. For all we know, one of their club gigs before they even recorded demos was the greatest ever.
Even if somebody had attended them all, it would still just be one person's opinion.

i dont want a group of 60 year old men writing new songs about "I've been thinkin' bout thinkin' bout sex. always hungry for somethin' that i havent had yet." no thank you. At least the general has a meaning behind the song.
How about, "I've been thinkin' bout thinkin' bout sex but I haven't checked the mailbox for the viagra yet?"
I agree, that any new lyrics should be written from an adult perspective and not a teenager perspective. Otherwise, it isn't authentic at all.
My only request is for them not to do a "being famous is a pain, poor me" song that many like to do at some point in their career.

Probably right although that is because Axl can sing 'Absurd' repeatedly without much difficulty. I still hate the song. Worse than Riad for me. I just don't get it at all.
Hard Skool is decent but was crap live in Budapest this year, really underwhelming. Haven't seen perhaps live.
TG could be better love than on the single although it depends on Axl being able to deliver which unfortunately is less likely these days.
Absurd is fun live at a show. The studio version I wouldn't care if I never heard again.
-
Just gave it my first listen.
The mix is godawful. The effects they put on the vocals is even worse. Yikes!
Hardskool, Perhaps and even Absurd I could get into a little bit. This is almost painful to listen to because of the mix and effects.

"I saw a ghost, guys! I was there, so no amount of science or common sense can disprove it!"
Let me guess, you're one of those guys who thinks waitresses awkwardly smiling at your dirty jokes is because they're genuinely happy. That's "body language" for you. Smiling means happiness!
I can't help but notice the complete lack of a response to any of the arguments I made, so I accept your concession.
All I will say at this point is that Fernando deserves the chance to defend himself and have his day in court. We shouldn't just assume that accusations are true nor should we dismiss them as untrue. Let the case progress and let a judge and jury decide what is true. If the accusations are proven in court (based on preponderance of the evidence and not beyond a reasonable doubt because it is civil court) then the appropriate punishment by his employer can be discussed.
The reaction shouldn't be "Fernando is an asshole who treats people poorly so therefore he must have done everything Kat accused him of."

How much does the microphone weight?
I had an orbital fracture in my teens caused by a high speed collision at a baseball practice where a taller players shoulder hit my face. It takes a significant force to fracture those bones. My instinct would say that you'd have to really throw the mic hard and would have to make a direct hit to possibly cause these injuries claimed.

The title of this thread should have been truncated to:
"Will the new album be?"
The answer is not likely.

Please stop mentioning Axl's age, or at least minimize the number of references. Seeing his age pointed out makes me feel old even though I'm 14 years younger than he is.
To your point, I think there is a higher likelihood of peace in the middle east than GNR releasing truly new music ever again.
