  1. I just skimmed through it looking for the rehearsal footage.....and it was pretty cool but only a teaser. For those that haven't watched it was rehearsal of Sweet Child from 12th August '86 at Burbank Studios. Never seen or heard of that that before anywhere.....Marc Canter must have so much unseen stuff.....

Nigel Dick who directed the early videos had some great commentary as well.

  2. Did I miss something..... you're saying your friend has more rehearsal tapes from Mates with Adler on drums including Coma & Bad Apples ?

Is it a longer version the same session that is floating around currently (ie Don't Damn Me, Garden of Eden, Locomotive, Dust N Bones) or a different session ?

Do you know what other tunes are on there ?

That would be awesome if it got out - I love listening to those tapes IMO the songs sound & feel so much better with Adler on there....I love the way Dust N Bones sounds on that tape, but am completely bored by the album version...

  3. Three hours of any band would bore me senseless let alone one where the set is full of covers, jams, and well let’s say material I wouldn’t be going to watch the show to see.

i remember when the Pistols reformed and they’d come on do and hour of high energy, just killer song after killer song and go. That is still the biggest pit of any concert I’ve ever been to and the crowd kept it up the whole time.

Watching the Ritz ‘87 reminded me of how GNR used to bring that type of energy.

75-90 mins would be ideal show length for me for GNR today, after that I’m getting bored. The mid 87-mid 88 era is my favourite for GNR - when they were opening they had 45mins and had to rip through it and even their headlining shows were really tight during that era - no self indulgence going on at all.

  4. I think that's the first time I've listened to this. Just sounds bland, like a bunch of session musicians playing the song, which I'm guessing it probably is as I don't know who played on it. Drums in particular are horrible and no feel - the live ones are just as bad. I assume the live part is from the Matt era, certainly doesn't sound like Adler. I just listened to it again, and can't find anything redeeming about it at all, even Axl's singing is no where near as good as the original in my view.

  5. I don't think Izzy cares about $ in the absolute sense, I think it's in a relative sense. He started the band, like Steven was integral to the key albums and build up to success of the band and thinks he deserves and even share of whatever the amount is. That's why I had hopes this show might have been it -if it was a free show put the money aside, put the music first -  everyone can be equal in $0 and get the original and best line up on that stage. Leave a credible legacy not one that lacks integrity and screams of sell out to the almighty $. Obviously didn't happen - and maybe $ still to blame if people see the pinnacle will they go back to an inferior version for the rest of the tour ? Or at that point would the other 3 be forced to share some profits ?

The whole reliability think with members makes we wonder if people are actually looking at facts or living in an alternate reality. Axl has failed to show up at more shows, caused more tours to be cancelled, walked off stage more and pulled more damaging-to-the-band stunts than all the other members combined. If anyone is a risk it is him, so if he is questioning others reliability it is laughable. And I'm not saying that to say he shouldn't be there he's part of the 5 so should be, but let's at least deal in the real world with factually accurate evaluations.

  6. Zeppelin have way more integrity than GN'R. Zeppelin lose their drummer and they cease using the Zeppelin name  - why because they know it will be a different band. Occasionally they re-unite, and when they do they only use the original members still alive, and for the drums they use the closest they have - their drummers son.

GN'R is now all about the $$$$. The only time I think we will see the original 5 now is when this version runs its course and they need the hype of the original 5 back to sell tickets. Until then they'll milk it for all its worth to maximise the $ for those that own the name and imagery.

i have no idea why i keep watching these videos, maybe waiting for a miracle to happen, maybe these aliens will play properly one day. of course they wont.

this time we have a soundboard recording and i figured maybe a better recording with every instrument clearly audible would make it sound good but it actually sounds WAY WORSE than the audience recordings

i am gonna go straight to ritz 88 too hahahahahahahaha

Yeah the song wasn't even recognizable. After a while you think it can't be as bad as I remembered and make the mistake of watching another video and its just cringe worthy.

We're never going to get performances like in the '80's again, but if you really wanted to make the best musical statement you'd scrape away the excess and get the original 5 back - that's the closest we'd get to the prime and the best we could hear the material sound today. But like I said before $ comes first now - musical integrity and legacy barely rates a mention. Its a shame as the band used to stand for the exact opposite - or at least appeared to.

this has got to be the worst ever good-audio-quality version of rocket queen, which is basically the best song ever along with some other GNR tunes

i can not understand how anyone that ever listened to any GNR version of this song can enjoy this nonsense!

seriously, this is butchering to the worst degree possible, i cant believe how shitty speedy grooveless this thing is!

I wish I didn't press play on that. Had to watch the Ritz Rocket Queen straight after just to get the awfulness out of my head. I remember when music was the most important thing with this band.....now its the $ by a long way...
