I don't understand why people want them to drop Slither, they actually play it pretty well.

The band sound great but Axl terrible on Slither. He talks the verses and 'here comes the water' sounds bloody awful.

They've been doing it since 2018. Time to drop it

    Reasonable theory I'd say.

It's equally likely though that there was just no need to replace the drums.

Slash and Duff needed to be added, for publicity and authenticity and personal politics reasons......other than that, there maybe just wasn't a reason to re-do stuff that already sounded good?

And also that Frank wouldn't be able to play as well as Brain

yes but don't  expect   pit to be lower than $ 200/150

$200 would be OK. The booking fee really bumps the price up

You think pit will be reduced? I get the feeling it is not going to be

Have you seen any cheaper PIT Tickets yet? Ticketmaster was down and not selling Metlife tickets early this morning. So I thought they might be changing the prices

This stream was the first time I checked out what the fuck "TV Eye" is and it's fucking awesome WTF. That got to be my favourite Duff spot song of all time now, it blows away any So Fines or New Roses we've had to endure, so I'm voting that, because it adds something really worthwhile and awesome and new to the set.

Yeah it is amazing live. I always thought Duff should do Dust N Bones, 14 years or Raw Power. But TV Eye is fantastic

Finally home, and here's my 'rather too long' review for anyone who wants to wade through it. I wrote it as if I was writing for people not using this forum but some sort of general news source.

Attend a Kiss concert anywhere in the world and you'll witness the same phenomenon. Clad head to toe in the iconic Kiss logo fans will flock to see the face paint, the glitter, explosions and sparkles.....and 'Rock N Roll All Night', 'Crazy Nights' and 'God Gave Rock N Roll To You'. Serve them up anything else and they'll politely applaud, gasp at the bright lights and wait for those songs. Kiss are a brand. You'll slap their stuff all over your body, but the music? Ah, that's optional. Take it or or leave it.

In a world where social-media hyperbole trumps lived experience ("OMG it was the best thing EVAAAH!!! Check out my socials for all the vids!) it's not hard to see the appeal to people of wanting in on a brand. GNR seem the latest victims/beneficiaries of this.

No-one in the venue is without something GNR related. Be it a hat, shirt, bandana or self-modified jacket, the place is swamped. You'd be forgiven for thinking this was a band with simply hordes of devoted fans hanging on every note, watching every setlist, devouring and debating every note. Until the band play a song that you might not hear in a Saturday night bar.

With Golden Circle tickets topping out around the £200 mark it's simply inexplicable why a sea of blank faces greet a song such as "Pretty Tied Up". A front central location in said Golden Circle should absolutely guarantee immunity from comments such as "I don't know any of these songs", "I've never heard this before" and "I hope they play some we know soon". With a remarkably slender back catalogue, who are these people that will shell out a couple of days working wages, yet haven't had the time or inclination to listen to the band's albums?

At times, you can see the band's frustration. Slash's muttered "oh, come on!" at the tepid reaction to their latest AC/DC cover and Axl's jovial but pointed jibing at someone clapping "like a golf fan" mask an awareness that the audience has changed, even in the relatively short time since the 2016 reunion.

Not that the band let this touch them though, as they plough through a set designed to enthrall the niche component of the audience. There's a genuine joy to them ripping through 'Reckless Life" and "Shadow Of Your Love" at breakneck speed simply because they want to. The band sound tighter than ever, energised and enthusiastic, howling, screaming, scratching and thrashing in a manner that seemed long gone just a year ago. Axl continues his complete personality shift as he laughs, jokes and dedicates himself fully. A near slip and fall on a wet monitor draws a joke, when once it would have been a mike throw, a rant at the crew and possibly a stage exit. The moment embodies the remarkable shift in the man.

A double bill of 'Sweet Child O'Mine' and 'November Rain' gives the crowd the dopamine dose they want, as 34,968 people watch it through their camera phones. Choosing not to do so marks you out as a minority dinosaur from a past of cigarette lighters where "living in the moment" was never uttered. Reams could be written on the phonemem of disengagement phones have caused, but they're here to stay and all one can do is speculate as to what people do with their vast amounts of poorly recorded videos.

With semi-new (a long story that anyone on a GNR forum can doubtless bore you to tears with) material soundchecked, it is a slight disappointment to a core few that nothing is played. An argument exists that GNR don't "need" to do anything new, something that seems borne out entirely by tonight. Oddly, the divisive semi-new "Absurd" gets heads nodding slightly thanks to it's punky and passionate performance, but the unnecessary nature of GNR playing it is clear to see. The crowd would be absolutely happy for the band to hit them with 5 or 6 'biggies' and roll off into the night. Hitting them with unreleased material would be like gifting your elderly Grandmother an XBox Series X. Not only unnecessary but potentially annoying and frustrating.

As the encore plays out with a politely received but exceptionally well played 'Street Of Dreams'  ("I hope they play 'Patience' next") the die is really cast; here is a band who still don't give too much of a fuck, in the best possible way. You want one you know? Well.... here's one you SHOULD know. It's the band GNR fans fell in love with, operating at total odds to current trends and culture.

Sure, their transition from 'band' to 'brand' is virtually complete now, but it's almost out of their hands. A victim of nostalgia, passivity and changing tastes in media and let's face it, F'N iconic logos and type fonts, GNR are the new Kiss.....but as long as no-one tells them that, they're still the greatest band in the world.

Good Lord I'm glad I wasn't standing next to you at the gig ... hang on I was

  6. Really great to see something different and interesting. Some unexpected song choices and mixing the set up is fantastic. I had no interest in going to see the same old show but I'd definitely like to see this. And maybe we'll get a couple more different songs thrown in as the tour progresses.

Not to be a downer but I still don't get Slither and Wichita. Especially Wichita which was a tribute what 5 years ago.

But on the up side I'll be looking to snap a bargain ticket for Glasgow

Soundcheck was Bad Obsession , Bad Apples and Pretty tied up .

According to the bloke on Fanspot they played all 3 plus others at soundcheck. He said soundcheck was around an hour.

There is a photo of Slash with the Travisbean posted by Megan so for Bad Obsession

Yeah … I’m not really buying this.

It wasn't a refund. I went back and forth with the swines and got offered a free ticket for any show up to value of my Gold Circle Guns London ticket.

I chose Def Leppard and Crue in Sheffield. They said I could only have a general admission ticket but I ended up with a Gold Circle ticket. Well worth sending a few emails. Ticket was worth £140

If Corey Taylor had done an album with Velvet Revolver, it would probably be regarded as the best 'GNR side project' album. Hopefully we hear some of those demos someday. He's played It's So Easy with Slash a few times and it sounded great, I think he's done a couple other GNR covers too.

Yes I would certainly love to hear that. I'm sure they recorded a good chunk of tunes

TBH - that headliner set is at Glastonbury is usually much shorter than the usual GNR gig. It’s not impossible for him to ‘push it’ a bit for a smaller set. And TBH….there have been many artists who have played that slot WELL past their prime and most fans/attendees don’t care! If he is ‘ballpark’ all will be fine.

That's the spirit. They'll be bloody marvellous 👍

They’re about 6 years too late to headline Glastonbury, they’ll get torn to pieces online. I love the band but I’m dreading this if it is indeed true.

Agreed. It won't be a Guns crowd and they'll be there for Sweet Child and Paradise City not Chinese songs ... and certainly not Mickey Mouse.

Axl could get bottled and storm off stage

I did actually yes! Good to hear you got yours sorted too. TM/LN gave me an offer for 4 complimentary tickets, though they've been picky with what I can use them for so far as I requested Metallica at Download and they couldn't as it's a festival. Likewise with GNR for BST was also a no as its a festival technically, though I'd presume if sales continue lacking then they might offer them out. Might pick Crue in London myself if another avenue for tickets there doesn't pull through. Roger Waters would be pretty wicked also but I'm at the stage of waiting a list of eligible shows to pick from which they said would come just after the New Year so should be here soon enough!

Good stuff. I was offered a ticket up to the value of my London Guns ticket but they said Gold Circle complimentary were not offered by the promoter for Crue. I took a pitch ticket as I have little interest in any gigs this year.

Can't turn down a Ticketmaster freebie

Oh believe me, I won't stand down willingly. They don't realise how far I'll dig when I'm pissed off.

    One can only dream...

Did you have any joy with your Ticketmaster complaint?

I accepted a complimentary ticket for Crue/Def Leppard at Sheffield in May. Not a Gold Circle but pitch standing. I think ticket is around £90 so not a bad score

What’s the best place for ticket at Hyde? Flying in from Canada, would love a ticket close up! I’m solo so can afford it!

Hyde Park is an awful venue and the Gold Circle is massive. I think there's no point in going if you're not in the Gold Circle. But I also think there's no point in going

  15. My London show was very underwhelming. I was glad it was only 2 hours and not 3. A 3 hour set is bloated with filler and boring jams.

There were songs I really enjoyed like You're Crazy. Some just OK and others were a borefest.

I did gets Reckless or Hardskool which was a bummer.

Witchita is just shit. Why is it played at every show like it's a Guns classic and Axl sounds so bad on Slither.

I don't think I'll go to another show unless there's a big change in the set including new songs.

I don't really get how people go to multiple shows and every one is amazing! It was in 2017 and 2017 but not now.

If you did my guess it was in 2019, or you didn't know the song when you heard it back in 1991. ;)

I saw them JULY 1991 when they played back-to-back shows at Shoreline Amphitheater. The 1st of the 2 was one of the extremely rare shows when they played it. Of course I was at the 2nd show!

Both concerts occurred 2 months before the UYI albums were released so I wouldn't have known it had they played it anyway.

At that time, the only UYI tunes I had heard or was familiar with (or that the vast majority would have known) were Civil War, YCBM, LALD, and KOHD.

They opened with Perfect Crime which, despite it being from 1986, I wasn't familiar with at the time -- but I do remember them performing it vividly as it was breakneck opening song.

But beyond that and NR, I couldn't recall which UYI tunes they played that night once the albums actually dropped.

Yes 2019 at Exit 111. It almost a nice surprise as I did avoid setlists just to be told by multiple people they are playing it. I did hit lucky as they only played it a few times.

That was bad luck missing Locomotive in 91 but it would have been a hard song to take in hearing it for the 1st time
