I'm glad it makes fans happy. I'm happy too, though I can't see a point why Slash should redo the old solos that were meant to remain there.

But anyway any release is better than nothing.

And hey, unlike you who's using lol emojis, I respond by text if I'm opposed to your opinion.

Yeah who wants to hear slash playing on gnr songs???

Axl has given credits for minor contributions, like for 1% or 2% of a song, which likely include things that are not typically considered songwriting, like solos (I think @Voodoochild has mentioned that it might be the case).

In Fortus' case I think that maybe Axl didn't give credits to people that "added" later to the songs. Because also, although he may have given credits for solos to others, he didn't do the same for Bumblefoot.

And yet he didn't give any credit to Slash (apart from a note in the album booklet) for the guitar work on estranged.

I was thinking again about Mayhue’s claim that the (mythical) next album would be AFD leftovers and, while I still think he misspoke, I’m actually starting to prefer the idea of them working on songs like Aint Goin’ Down, Just Another Sunday, etc. over more ChiDem era stuff. I know that sounds crazy, but I guess I’m just getting nostalgic for that “sound.”

That said, I’ll take anything, at the end of the day. Just exercising the fun little what-if scenario in my head, is all.

Besides, I think when Duff said Axl has “zillions of songs,” he was talking about all the different eras, not just the ChiDem era.

If we’re talking strictly AFD times, what do they have to work with? Aint Goin Down, Just Another Sunday, Crash Diet (they would have to buy the rights back), Too Much Too Soon (kinda corny but can still work), Bring It Back Home (kinda morphed into Slither but can still work)… I can’t really see them doing anything with Sentimental Movie. And songs like Cornshucker and It Tastes Good are obviously out of the question. We also don’t know if Axl ever wrote lyrics to Nightcrawler (despite it morphing into Speed Parade). Canter did say that Axl wanted to use a few Snakepit songs as recently as 2001, though, so make of that what you will.

Ive never heard those Hollywood Rose songs like Rock N Roll Rose, Rock N Roll Survivor, Bloodshot Eyes, etc. So I can’t comment on those.

    God I hope not....

Some  of those are appallingly bad - just another sunday, too much too soon,

Some are boring as batshit - bring it back home, aint goin down.

I actually don't mind crash diet and sentimental movie.

Timeless is subjective. When you listen to Appetite, it screams 80s. OMG sounding like it's from 1999 means nothing. If you like the song you like it regardless of how much it reminds you of a time. So many young people only listen to music that's from the past year or current year because of thinking like that. Once a few years has past those songs are relegated to the past. Shitty way to regard art.

    I absolutely agree with you.

It just made me think of appetite V the illusions.

I honestly feel like the illusion albums sound more 'dated' than appetite.

But I love them both anyway.

In a 3 hour show, why not? His solos on KOHD are nice, he was as good or better than Slash on Wish You Were Here, and his solos on CD and SOD are much better than Slash's.

Sorry I don't just want to stand there going "OMG it's Slash, what an icon!!! Everything he touches is gold, I love Sweet Child O Mine and Guitar Hero!!!!!!" it's pretty obvious that Slash's playing is hit or miss these days.

If Fortus sounds better on the CD solos then he should play the CD solos, Slash still gets plenty of spotlights throughout the show :shrugs:

Sorry mate i just really don't rate his playing at all.

I feel like he has no originality.

One pf the highlights of this version of gnr for me has been hearing slashs take on the cd songs.

I've never understood people wanting note for note versions of songs live - put a cd on and turn it up loud if that's what you're after!
