Robin would be the guy though. For me Richard doesn't quite nail the CD solos (for me), he plays the notes but I don't get the same feeling from his playing of them. I think his shining live solo was in November rain, that really suited his style, but it would be insane for him to play that lead with Slash 10ft away😄

I honestly thought Richards playing of the November rain solo was appalling. No feel at all to me.

Not much, all they said was "Tell DK6 we don't like him and we can't top our best most beloved work, only an idiot would think otherwise". Bet you wish you didn't ask now😬

    Really!?!

But I thought we always had fun together.....

Next time I see Axl I'm going to punch him in the back of the head!

Ah these guys aren't thinking about topping AFD or UYI, or even CD. There's just no way to top the 80s/90s material at this point in time. The delay is not because they are worried they can't top those records. They know, no matter how good a record is, it will never be appreciated the same way that those records are.

I'm glad you've been keeping in contact with them!!

Anything else they've been telling you about?

It's fine, it wouldn't have been out of place on Tenderness. I wish Axl would do some vocals and Slash would record some solos on Duff songs though, they could release a good acoustic EP if they actually tried...

I've been thinking thsi for ages.

It must be a very daunting thought to live up to A4D and UYI style albums.

A small acoustic EP would be a great way to release some music with a little bit of pressure off.

Here’s a refresher for you, and everyone else, with all ‘opinion and conjecture’ removed.

Jay Kogen, man who created Duff - https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0463124/

    firsthand confirmation from Jay -

further confirmation from showrunner at the time Mike Reiss

until you provide a similarly conclusive quote from Alan Niven, Doug Goldstein, Duff’s PA at the time, or somebody who worked in Geffen, you have nothing to back up your hypothesising.

if you blatantly ignore the above due to some parasocial allegiance to Duff, I am compelled to question your basic comprehension skills.

I just wish there was some solid evidence one way or the other.

I guess we'll never really know for sure.

Man... Axl on those instrumentals would have been amazing. I think Scott is great and he does kick ass on the album, but those are still some of Slash's best instrumental offerings since GNR. Also, imagine Axl at Rock AM Ring 2006 level with at least Slash/Duff/Sorum in GNR. It would have been a big deal.

    2006 would have been amazing!

I like Scott's work on it too. Just would love to have heard Axl's take on it.

It's definitely the most GnR sounding music that has been made outside of GnR.

Has sort of a mean, hard edge to it that is missing in all of Slash's other work.

    In my opinion anyway.

I had always hoped that Slash had secretly tucked some heavier riffs away for a potential GnR reunion album - that was when I was young and naive though!

On another note does anyone know what happened to the music made during VR years  with Izzy (pre singer) that Slash said in his autopbiography would have been the best GnR record ever?
