  1. 1. Longer 6-8 mins 2. more string emphasis because of all the talk about beltrami over the years. And the show intros in the mid to late 2000s 3. Uh not weird. The Daddy Don’t parts are just hard to listen to. 4. At least one super epic Guitar solo 5. More lyrical complexity
  2. I actually loved the intro on the original version. I loved how it built into that main riff. I get why they changed it to that Duff baseline though
  3. I had been saying since Friday afternoon that Monsters is Soul Monster. Glad Beltrami seemed to confirm this. But really did we need any confirmation beyond that bridge on Monsters…..
  4. Wrong! There is a feature on the IPhone where you can set spatial audio to always on. When you do this you can listen to and enjoy spatial audio with any good set of headphones
  5. You don’t need an Atmos system. All you need is Apple Music and a good pair of headphones
  6. I keep wishing Axl would do an Atmos release of CD. You can hear all the elements of a song so much better with an atmos mix
  7. Bach could have easily confused the tracks. I agree the General is not exactly like Bachs description. And I cannot even begin to imagine how it relates to estranged in Axl’s mind.
  8. He’s not still trying to make it work The General dates to 2001-2002. It’s like a time capsule
  9. This is just like Prostitute in 2008. No one wanted to believe it was prostitute even though there was a line about prostituting yourself
  10. Also Cuban Skies. I’m a cigar nut and I’m down for an Axl song about cigars.
  11. It’s Seven for me. Last of the Beltrami tracks (also thyme I guess). Marco said it was the best song he worked on.
  12. I love Chinese Democracy. It has some amazing songs. Nothing on it is as good as November Rain. I think some of these songs that have been around for a long time we have just gotten used to. But November Rain is still the all time Axl piano epic along with its twin Estranged.
  13. It absolutely shares orchestration with the General but if Monsters is Soul Monster (and I believe it is) it was worked on during the same session with Beltrami in 2002. That long string arrangement that was played before CD on tour was long and epic enough to span 2 separate songs. It’s always just been thought of as only being for The General because that’s what the band told us but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t also used for Soul Monster.
  14. Agreed. I think the distorted vocals are a choice just like OMG. While that’s not my favorite choice personally these songs date back to the early 2000s and it fits with that time period.
  15. To describe anyone as a soul monster……man…..that’s some deep hurt….. Another fire side chat would be amazing. So many unanswered questions
  16. Beltrami worked on The General, Soul Monster, Seven, and Thyme. It makes sense that Monsters and The General share the orchestration. I never thought they would be paired together but it makes some sense because they were both Beltrami tracks. I can’t escape the thought that Monsters is Soul Monster simply because of that bridge. I cannot imagine Axl doing a meaner bridge than that on another song. It’s exactly how it was described in 2008.
  17. After listening to the General a handful of times the second half of it is up there with some of the best stuff on Chinese. Especially from the orchestra bridge onward. I could have done without the whole daddy don’t part. Monsters (Soul Monster) fits seamlessly into the CD canon. The Bridge is so angry it’s almost cathartic to listen to.
  18. The General definitely not. Monsters I could see being played on hard rock radio
