The Florida senator told NewsNation this week that others in addition to Grusch in the intelligence community have come forward with “firsthand” accounts of UFO hardware.

And apparently there are going to be congressional hearings about this. So either the US does have some of this 'exotic' material that whistleblowers are talking about, or people high up in the intelligence world have lost their marbles or are running a psyop. Either way, it's a big story either way.

This post unintentionally made me laugh. We could set a bot to automatically post this comment around this time of year every year.

Hate to say it folks but I am bored of the whole thing - I haven’t yet bought the new UYI’s the price has put me off, and while live shows are great I already have a tonne of live GnR stuff I barely listen to. My musical tastes have sent me in directions to discover new stuff for me - either new releases by bands I like, or old stuff by bands I’m just discovering (so new for me). I very rarely listen to GnR anymore, despite them probably still being, overall, my favourite band.

That said, the new November Rain sounds fantastic. Had they reworked both albums along those lines that would have been a new and exciting product! Imagine Coma or Civil War with that new sheen! Shame the SW remixes are likely to sit in the vault - hopefully it’s just another money spinning exercise and they will eventually release them next year to rinse this again, alongside a standalone Blu-ray release. Pink Floyd have this business model also - release a massive boxset then slowly release the component parts over time in various formats.

I've been out of the loop and had no idea there was a new mix of November Rain. Do we know if they remixed the others too?

Is anyone out there using late term abortion as contraception?

"Oh here lemme just carry this thing 7 months and say 'nah fuck this I'm out.'"

I don't know how common they are or the reasons generally stated are. I'm against them on principle and think they should be very, very rare.

    So...separate but equal?

He's right in the sense that most people just want to discuss issues with people who more or less agree with them. I get it, but I think everyone of all political stripes needs to experience some cognitive dissonance every now and then. That's hard to do if you're in a political hugbox.

And yes people who just want to push people's buttons without ever earnestly discussing any ideas are just the worst and tend to ruin things for everyone.

Abortion should not be treated as contraception; if for no other reason, that's bad for the woman's health. Late term abortion shouldn't be allowed. And the extreme protester types who say things like "lol let's go kill some babies tehe" etc are fucking morons because that's horrible, inflammatory and counterintuitive.

All that being said, abortions are of course sadly sometimes necessary, especially if rape or incest is involved. People oppressing people's lives by pushing their moronic religious beliefs onto others is absolute bullshit. If I ever meet someone who thinks that's okay and supports women being locked up with these archaic, draconian, evil anti-abortion laws I will punch them in the mouth.

I'm a devout Catholic and I'm pretty much on board with everything you said. The pro life movement should focus on the late term abortions as well as other programs to dissuade women from an abortion when there isn't rape or incest or health issues involved.

90 percent of those are women and children.

It's still a question as to whether they'll stay in their host countries or go back once the violence has subsided and homes are rebuilt.

If the numbers keep going up and many don't return the demographic implications are massive for a country with low birth rates like Ukraine.

They went away from nuclear power because of their polititians connectiobs with Russia and profit from import of Russian coal, gas and oil... Mutti Angela was always apolegetic for Putin - strange thing for Eastern German about former KGB...

That might be part of it. But the many of the environmentalist movement are biased against nuclear.

    Also on an unrelated note:

Reminder of just how many people Ukraine is losing to emigration.

She is not Putin's admirer... she (as most of polititians these days) doesn't care where from money is coming as long as it arrives...

Germany stood with high moral when economic crisis was at peak and when they ordered Greece and the rest of Europe to lower their spendings (wrong tactics as many ecomoists said then and all of them now) even if that caused loweri g of standards in those countries. But now, when they should abandon cheap russian oil and maybe lower their own standard - no way... glad, president Z refused German presidebt's visit to Kyiv. After all, they (Germany) are Putin's main financiers...

Germany's weakness has always been it's lack of natural resources. Since they did an own-goal of going away from nuclear power, they have no other option.

Not just there. Here in my country (Western Europe) a lot of people are taking Ukrainian refugees into their homes because it's war on the continent, and probably also partly because these are white people from Europe and not Muslims from the Middle East.

Yeah I think this phenomenon was fairly easy to predict.

  10. 7 hours ago, downzy said:

It's true now, but whether it's true six months to a year from now, remains to be seen.  And I think that's Putin's calculation.  The argument that he wants more of Ukraine to increase his leverage during talks doesn't add up one bit.  Everyone knows he doesn't have the manpower to hold Ukraine long-term.  He needs a deal in the next six months to a year or his army will start to collapse unless China or another country comes to his rescue.

I actually see it the other than the was posted above. I think Putin had a good idea that Ukrainian refugees would be more accepted in places like Poland and Hungary because they are ethnically and religiously more similar to the people in those countries than Syrian refugees. I think the calculation is, how many people does Ukraine want to leave (and many of these people won't be coming back).

Honestly made me appreciate the Bale/Nolan films all the more.

Enjoyed the car chase scene, but everything else didn't really work for me or excite me. Less than zero chemistry between Batman and Catwoman, and the Bruce Wayne character is a complete and utter afterthought in this film.

Nolan's Bruce Wayne was better, but I like this version of Batman better than Nolan's. Nolan's Batman was kind of a clutz and wasn't much of a detective. Reeves Batman did 'realistic' Batman better than Nolan did I thought. I thought the chemistry of Batman and Gordon to be just as good as Nolan's (which is incredible, because Nolan had such a good Jim Gordon).

I rank the chemistry of Batman and Catwoman as:

    1 Batman Returns

    2 The Batman

    3 The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah, even the US intelligence apparatus isn't all that confident in the assessments they're putting together.  I've read articles that time helps Ukraine's army, and then others that time helps Russia's.

That said, I think it is true that Ukraine is proving to be far more effective than everyone thought they would.  The fact that Russia has yet to capture one of Ukraine's major urban areas and there are now reports of Ukraine pushing Russia back from areas around Kiev is astonishing.  While I think you're right that it's far too early for anyone to be talking about a collapse of the Russian operation in Ukraine, it's also obvious that Russia's mission is not going to plan; that they're forces are being exposed to some major weaknesses in both preparedness and effectiveness.

I personally think Mariupol is going to tell us a lot. The Ukrainian fighters there seem to be the most fanatical. If that falls I think that could be a big domino that leads to a Ukrainian collapse. On the other hand, if they keep holding out there, they may grind the Russians down to a point where they back off.

If you think this is bad you should read about what the Red army did in WWII...

I'm seeing a lot of people put their clout on the line saying the Russian army is going to collapse. Still way too much fog of war out there for me to go along with that. Remember when the National Security Establishment told us the 300,000 strong Afghan army was this strong fighting force? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Israel, or those close to Bennet, deny claims that Bennet is pushing Zelensky to take Putin’s offer.

Even if Bennet is (which I doubt since such a move would piss of Zelensky and maybe even Biden), there’s zero chance Ukraine would accept.  Too much has happened to give in to Russian demands at this point. Moreover, if Russian forces are really having the kinds of difficulties that reports indicate, Zelensky has every reason to hold off for better terms.

Right, I did say there was back and forth between the two sides on who said what, it's the Ukrainian official saying that's what Bennet said.

  15. I was wondering what the Israeli's thought of what is going on, apparently Bennett wants Zelensky to take the deal and is trying to act as a moderator between the two sides. I agree with him if true. Apparently there is some back and forth between Ukraine and Israel as far as exactly what was said and what was recommended. The initial claim by the Ukrainians:

Why it matters: Bennett has emerged as a key mediator between Putin and Zelensky in the last two weeks. Israel has said it needs to remain neutral in the mediation, but the Ukrainian official told Axios that Bennett must present proposals and do more than act as a "mailbox" between the two sides.

Driving the news: The senior Ukrainian official claimed Bennett initiated the call on Tuesday and recommended Zelensky take the offer.

US officials have put Russian forces losses somewhere between 2000-4000.

Those numbers are in the realm of possibility and don't immediately come off as propaganda as the Ukraine one does.

Fan of? This isn't a sports game, it's a war where people's lives are being lost. I have a different opinion on how to end this war than others, my goal isn't to become an Amen corner for one side or the other.

Biden said no more Russian oil. Meanwhlle, America doesn't use Russian oil.

Texas can provide the US with all the oil it needs but Biden doesn't want to do this? WTF?

Okay, I realized that with covid and the stupid things Biden is doing with this war, won't get him re-elected in 2024. I hope it's not Trump but I bet it'll be a Republican candidate.

No matter what is done to Putin he won't stop invading Ukraine. He's not effected by these sanctions, just the Russian people are. Putin doesn't care about human life and when you don't, there's nothing you can threaten him with.

And if Biden begs Iran, Saudi Arabia and Venezula for oil, what a fuckin joke that will make America look.

I've never been do disgusted in my life.

Saudi Arabia has been waging it's own brutal war in Yemen. Fat chance the US would ever ban Saudi oil imports.

  18. I'm not much of a Zelensky fan. But one thing that could put him in a tough position is his own population, and specifically the right wing chauvinistic part of the population. If he does agree to a deal with Putin, does that put his life in danger from right wing Ukrainians for being a traitor? Also him being Jewish could be something that part of the population highlights if he makes a deal.

weren't you the one that said resistance is futile.

To win this war yes, Ukraine has no chance. Because I don't think Putin wants to occupy the entire country and deal with an insurgency, he wants what is being proposed right now, an independent Ukraine with official ceding of Crimea and the Eastern Republics.

I agree if the Russians try and take the entire country there will be resistance for a long time. That's why I think their actual territorial ambitions are more limited in scope here than a Soviet/Stalin government would be.
