Are you STILL here? Don't you have work to do? You're crying about being a starving artist with bills to pay, then claim you've been inundated with work offers ever since you threw all your toys out of your pram. Sounds like you should be putting food on the table instead of replying to people whose thoughts "mean zero" to you.

    I don’t work at 9:30 at night.

It’s a very cool litho. I just doubt the similarities were out of thin air. Same colors, similar backgrounds, stylized strings, stickers, came out at a similar time, etc

its not the worst crime, artists “borrow” all the time, it’s just combined with everything else

Do an eye dropper color grab in Photoshop and post the results. Let’s see how exactly the same these colors are.

@facefirstyou've made the following things clear:

    You're mad at Global

    You're mad at GN'R

You don't give a shit what GN'R fans think

So why are you still here? I have no horse in this race, it's just an honest question.

Just putting it all out there. After that I don’t really care. At least it’s out there.

Regarding not caring - yes, Global and GNR can piss off.

fans - I’m glad they like my work. Other than that I don’t care about what they think they know about what agreements were in place. When you see someone totally not in the know telling you stuff about your business like it’s fact then they can fuck. At that point their opinion means absolutely nothing.

Wow what a badass, those rock stars who don’t even know you exist totally read your respectful tweet and got constructive criticism. Very professional.

“bUt ThEy WeRe BaDaSs AnTi EsTaBlIShMeNt RoCk StArZ!”

They have been millionaires for 30 years who are now operating an entity worth hundreds of millions. Sorry, bud, you just come across as a whiny, disrespectful, unprofessional jerk

Maybe you were underpaid. Most of us are or have been. You agreed to the job, it didn’t pan off. Instead of shitting on loyal fans of the band maybe you could just fuck off and trace someone else’s art for your next project

Again, your thoughts mean zero to me.

Fernando cared enough to reach out, right? But at some point (by that point?) you already showed how unprofessional you were with petty insults on band members. At that point, I don't blame Fernando if he thought, "fuck this guy." I wouldn't want to work with someone like that either.

I’m fine with that. Fuck him.

Which makes it even funnier that he thinks those are the same colors. Of course there’s different types of colorblind, so there’s that.

Can someone explain to me what is going on with the litho drama? I see two people arguing and unsure what is going on.

That is simply not true, you posted here because you wanted sympathy and cared about what we think since you presented certain info to mold our opinions

Sorry it was a bad deal for you. I’ve repeatedly said I think you are talented and I enjoy your work (even the plagiarized poster), but you definitely have not been the guardian angel you have been painting yourself as

Again, not plagiarized. I could show you tons of art that has similar concepts and even similar execution yet were created totally separate of each other. I love that you understand all thing art related. You should stick to being a GNR fanboi. The art critic role doesn’t look good on you.

Not a guardian angel. Just showing what a shit company Global is and how Fernando is totally cool with that because I (gasp!!) said Axl needs vocal lessons. Prove me wrong on that assertion.

  8. 9 minutes ago, GnR Chris said:

Well, dude, obviously. I only know the information you yourself have provided, then Margott dropping the email exchange that elaborated on your dealings with Fernando. But you trashed Fernando and the band members without cause, even if Global is the one who backed out on a previous verbal agreement.

But the emails, bro ... it certainly looks like you were gonna charge those same aftermarket prices to make upwards of $60k despite you telling us you want the fans to enjoy your artwork at a reasonable cost. And again, there is nothing wrong with you selling your artwork that you slaved over for whatever price you deem. But don't come here trying to garner sympathy by lying about how you want us all to have APs and not be robbed. You're accusing Duff, Axl, and Slash of "selling out" but then you're turning around and trying to make money too.

I don’t want sympathy at all. Again, I give zero shits what people think. I just wanted it out there for other artists to be aware of. It’s interesting that after I brought this stuff to light that I was hit up by a bunch of artists and a couple ex-employees of Global basically solidifying the things I’ve said.

    1 minute ago, ZoSoRose said:

Of course my thoughts and opinions mean nothing to you, as you took someone else’s design as your own

How much were you paid for that one, bud?

Far from your bud. You’re also clueless. But please, go on.  You’re an armchair designer on a fan forum. You’re clown shoes.

  9. 3 minutes ago, ZoSoRose said:

Dude, they are pretty much the same poster. The crazy guitar string concept is even the same. The guitar color is the same and they were from the same city. That’s all just a coincidence?

My mistake- the other one was for New York, big whoop

Apparently you’re colorblind and have no clue of what you’re looking at. Similar concept? Sure. So what?  You think you got one over on me or that I’m going to apologize. Fuck that noise. Again, your thoughts on my work mean zero to me.

    Just now, ZoSoRose said:

Wow, you are a real piece of work

I think you got canned because you are just an entitled jerkoff

See, misinformed. I did the canning. But yeah, you know all the intricacies of merch design and the music industry. Please tell me more white hot insider info.

I went to look but he's made his IG private now. Do you remember what he said?

I agree, I think they could've resolved this in a way that satisfied both parties but he kind of shot himself in the foot there.

I didn’t want to solve anything, just make it known to other artists, which it is. It’s not like I wanted to work MORE with them or Global.

Gunsnroses @slash @duffmckagan you guys let flebeis, @dooh3r  and globalmerchservices represent your band?? You guys used to be all about expression, ruffling feathers.  All about expressing yourselves.
Now you’re all about an asshole manager and a horrible merch company. I can’t believe that growing up I aspired to be like you. You’re all corporate shills dressed up in leather. @official_axlrose hopefully you take some vocal lessons with the money you and globalmerchservices fucked artists out of. I guess you should never meet your heroes.

I have saved a screenshot of his post before he went private if anyone wants to see it.  And he wrote that after Fernando explained why he would not allow APs and wants fans to get lithos at $50 price the band set (which you all read in the entire email from Fernando to Geoff, which I shared yesterday).  He did not like the answer so he went to insult everyone including the band members.  A very immature way to act, in my opinion.

I’m glad you know all the ins and out of the industry and know what was promised to me and what wasn’t. You’re a next level genius.

Also, I forgot to add in my post above, it's unprofessional to talk shit about the band even if you're unhappy about a business dealing. It's one thing for Geoff to air his grievances over perceived mistreatment, but I saw he talked a bunch of shit on Instagram about Duff's and Slash's greed, or Axl's voice, etc. But he never even dealt with them directly. That's not a good look for future employment.

And I give zero shits. That’s the beauty of being self employed. I don’t answer to anybody and can handle things how I see fit. We’re really going to talk professionalism and GNR??  They’ve made a career out of being unprofessional. I mean that in the best way.

I see the lithograph drama is ongoing.

Geoff, the math from your emails adds up to gouging.

"In the past Global has always given me anywhere between 20-50 proofs for me to sell on my own."

    And

"So I was looking to clear anywhere from $30k-60k on proofs (the Boston one is going for $500-600 already, which is nuts!)"

50 proofs multiplied by $600 is $30k. Even if you were given 20 proofs per event poster, which at the time was, what, five cities? That's 100 posters, which would be selling them for $300 each to get to $30k.

You're the artist. You can sell your work for whatever the market will bear. GNR certainly have no issues selling shirts for $50 a pop. But like Fernando said, there is always two sides to the story. Actually, there is usually three sides to a story.

You’re not privy to all the details and other stuff that was in the works. But sure.

  13. 9 minutes ago, guitarpatch said:

“I’ve always made a point not to gouge people”

What does that mean? You went and made sure to get full secondary market prices at auction. But it’s “no reserve” so that’s ok.

Again, your right to do so. However you’re not doing anything for the fans here and would gladly let these go for 20x the price if that’s what the market sets

So what’s “gouging” to you? Putting them up for 1k and having them sit unsold?

I don’t know what to tell you. You seem very obsessed about what I’m making on my work. Show me where my prices are the highest. Also, full secondary market prices?  You gotta be kidding. My two auctions that ended today had very different finishing prices. Hardly full market value. But hey, keep checking the auctions.

Things happen for a reason. It’s honestly a relief not working with Global.

Did you get anything beyond a pat on the back for your art used in the pinball machine?

(You also don’t get an art credit or digital asset credit, which seems kind of lousy, so I’m guessing in this case once you’ve given them the commissioned art they “own” it to use as they see fit?)

I can use the art for art prints if I choose but the GNR name and logos would need to be removed.

As far as art credit - never from them. Not once.

  15. 4 minutes ago, ZoSoRose said:

We are all sorry to hear that, but you have been working for them since 2016 so what was the big change? It appears there weren't APs for those years, right? Did you just get paid more then?

2016 was when I first did their lithos. First time I actually did any lithos. This is when they were with Bravado. I had no clue about APs at the time. I just assumed that was the gig. After the 2016 ones I did I refused to do more because it wasn’t worth the time involved. Shit, I had to go to NYC to actually get ONE copy of the posters I did because Charles Dooher couldn’t be bothered to send me one. This was like a year after the shows.

Once I started doing more for other clients (including Global) I realized APs were a thing and then it made the work worth the pay.

Never said you didn’t have the right to do that. Just don’t make it seem you’re doing the  community any favors either

It’s not fair for the fanbase to subsidize your income. You should be paid more

Where did I say I was doing the community favors?  All I said is I work to try to make sure my pieces are the lowest.  I do this because I am/was a fan of the band and if I wanted a poster for a show I went to I wouldn’t want to pay 20x the original price. I’ve always made a point not to price gouge people.  Never said that I’m not trying to make money. Again, this is my job. I’m not some dude trying to flip posters for maximum money.

  17. Just now, ZoSoRose said:

I was not implying anything, I was just curious. Was hoping you would make more than $2500 in that time frame, is all.

Definitely not on that project. I put in a ton of hours on it. I scrapped multiple, almost finished designs because I was sure I could do better and really wanted to only put out top notch work for GNR. At the end of the day it was a huge time suck and I regret ever doing any work for them. Like I said before, lesson learned.

You said “ALWAYS wanted to make sure people got them at a fair price.”

I get that you’re trying to subsidize your work. However you aren’t doing the community or fans any favors here by capitalizing on the demand

Should I just give them away (which I actually do at times) or should I let you set my pricing?  I can’t help that someone wants the art. I mean, that’s how the economy works. When there’s a demand there needs to be a supply for said demand. If there was no demand the pieces would have little to no worth.

so I apologize for trying to pay my bills. I hope you make sure to not capitalize at whatever you do for a living.
