  1. Slash hit an all time low when he guested with the Black Eyed Peas. I know it was the Superbowl. But still.
  2. Is it confirmed that Living For The City is a Stevie Wonder cover? If so I hope that Slash is careful with it. Because the original is a true work of art.
  3. Probably the best vocal that I have ever heard from Axl was on his duet with Mick Jagger on 'Salt of the Earth' in 1989.
  4. This takes the crown for worst ever GnR music video (the previous holder being Bad Apples).
  5. Can't see that this will be anything other than a video for The General. See - and we thought we'd have nothing new to bitch about for a while!
  6. Slash swearing up a storm on Saturday morning kids TV in the UK (back in 2000): https://youtu.be/11tBL4Gy1II?si=aIzwDAnkZfZ4V8sd
  7. Early in the year 2000, I was in the Virgin Megastore in Piccadilly Circus. I had a few quid - enough to buy either a cassette of AFD or a cassette of Muse's 'Showbiz' album. Thank god I chose AFD.
  8. This might sound like an odd thing for a GnR fan to say but... Tattoos aren't for me.
  9. Like I said - yes it is probable that they came up with the idea of naming it Duff without thinking of Duff McKagan. But maybe, at some point, they thought it would be wise to check with Duff himself that it was okay. Just in case Duff later got the wrong idea that it was named after him and decided to sue.
  10. As Duff himself has admitted, his memory of those years is very patchy. Because he was drunk or high nearly all of the time. What could have happened is that The Simpsons' writers came up with the name Duff without initially thinking about Mr McKagan. But perhaps later on they thought they'd better reach out to him to check that he was ok with their fictional beer being the same as his fictional name. Or maybe their lawyers suggested they should do that?
  11. In short - when it comes to releasing and promoting product, just get them to do the things that you might for granted from any other rock band. Like - a regular schedule of new releases (not delayed at the last minute), with videos and interviews. Is that too much to ask? Apparently, it is.
  12. OMG! Imaginig Slash without Marshall amps is like imaginig him with a top hat or a Les Paul. But if he thinks other amps work better for him, he should go for it.
  13. Today I was told by Universal Europe that my order of the 'Perhaps' single had been delayed until December. Better late than never, eh?
  14. A Wednesday night in June 2006. I'm on the floor of the Hammersmith Apollo, London, waiting for GnR to start. It's been 90 minutes since the opener - Avenged Sevenfold - left the stage. The clock strikes 10.30pm. I remember that I have work the next day. The crowd are beginning to get restless, and some booing breaks out. As the minutes tick on, the boos get louder. Metallica's Master of Puppets comes on the PA. I think to myself, 'well, surely they will be ready to start after this long song'. Master of Puppets finishes eight minutes later and is followed by... another song on the PA. The booing gets louder and nastier. Someone (I guess, from the GnR camp) comes on stage and shoots some footage of the crowd on a handheld camera. No-one is in the mood for cheering and waving. I think to myself - 'shit, this is getting dangerous', and plot a quick route to the exit in case an actual riot breaks out. For a few more minutes, I am primed to bolt towards the door the second that people start throwing things. And then... The lights go down. The first few notes of the jungle intro are teased out. Out comes Robin with his Les Paul, long coat and traditional Greek trousers. And then 'Do you know where the fuck you aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrree?'. Axl and the rest of the boys tear onto the stage. At the end of an ecstatic Mr Brownstone, Robin throws his Les Paul across the stage. Axl, smiling slyly and pacing up and down, speaks to the crowd. 'Well - no sleep 'til Hammersmith..... and hopefully no sleep tonight!' I stayed to the end, didn't get home til 4am and sleepwalked through work the next day. Was it worth it? Hell yes.
  15. Slash is all over these new leaks. But my first reaction to the bass of The General was that it sounded like Tommy's tone. I know it seems absurd that a new release wouldn't feature Duff, but that is what I was hearing. I think the answer is that these are final versions (or close to final versions) that feature a mixture of current and past gunners.
  16. The start of Monsters sounds like something from Perfect Dark (an N64 game from 2000). That's cool, though. Yes, there's definitely a couple of bars in there that similar to his SOD solo.
  17. I'm catching myself constantly humming the main melody of 'The General' to myself. That's a good thing, right?
  18. I had some bad news earlier today (no, nothing to do with the vinyl delay). But hearing the General at long last, AND the excellent Monsters, really cheered me up. So thanks to whoever has released these into the wild.
  19. Gotta say that Monsters bought a big smile to my face. That voice, that guitar.. I wonder about the lyrics of the two halves. Are they describing two sides of an abusive relationship? (That is my hot take after listening through once).
  20. Oh FFS. You know when you wait for a train, and then when the scheduled time rolls around they tell you it's been delayed for two hours? That's what this is like. I'll just have to console myself with the new music from Prince and The Beatles, both of which are due imminently. GnR ain't the only band in the world.
