Wtf is up with that GnR reddit page -

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Anybody who does not adhere to Rule 2 of this subreddit will get banned

This includes anybody who posts links, anybody who gives details on where to find leaks, anybody who spreads awareness of them, anybody who asks to DM files, or other such behavior. Consider this both a reminder and warning.

They can't even talk about the only semi interesting thing about GnR on a GnR reddit? haha fuck me. I hope everyone leaves that page and starts a different one. This is worse than Johnny Rotten selling butter.

I think they might be going overboard. I did not even start the thread I commented in. I asked a simple question, and now I am at risk of being banned from the GNR subreddit and being IP banned by Reddit themselves apparently. I had no prior comments o or posts relating to that matter...

No joke here, Melissa Reese "liked" a Facebook comment I made on the GN'R page about tonight's show.

    My comment?

    "When's 'Perhaps' coming?"

While not a reply one way or the other, I found her "like" to be encouraging. Maybe they will roll it out tonight, but if not, it sounds like it's on the way. And yes, it looks very much like Melissa Reese's official page when I clicked on it.

I just checked and got that too. Not sure if its legit.

The graphics and countdown all could be coded to display "next friday" too. We really don't know much. We can speculate. Web pages easy to make live on accident. Especially ones where multiple people are editing and tinkering around. Some sites even get auto redirects set in place when a page is made live and then turned back in to a draft. Someone could have set that page to live on accident. Happens. But the graphics may have been coded to display Aug 11 or Aug 18 or Aug 1 or whatever date was the follow Friday. I'd speculate that they wouldn't have pre-saves in the cards if it wasn't going to be a pre-planned Tweet a few days before release day. I'm guessing someone blundered. I don't believe a band/brand like GnR really needs any sort of hype or extra press, especially from the Blabbermouths of the world.

The band doesn't need any sort of excuses for sure. It is pathetic. One original album and three original songs recorded in the late 90s the past 30 years. Unfortunately, new music has never been a driving force for them to make money. I'd speculate with the page being posted there was some sort of fuckery going on and someone messed up or there was a delay. But i have a hard time seeing a delay being based around a website being posted early and clickbait articles being ran about it.

The countdown timer was coded. The background graphic that said presave August 11th was a cgi rendered MP4 video file.

Man i don't know what to think... because we don't know whats the reason they (or Axl) keep acting like this. We may have real info on why the CD release was treated the way it was, but i just can't comprehend the struggles to get music out after the reunion, it can't just be incompetence, there has to be some real, justifiable reason that we are gonna find out in the future right?

This couldn't have happened because someone got pissed that we found the link or got insecure, there's just no fucking way someone in their 60's can act like that while handling a multi million dollar business.

To even say that this wasn't actually meant at some point to drop August 11th is the biggest bullshit possible, there was a date written at an artwork, on an official (it was a demo page but still) GNR linkfire, that now redirects you to the official GNR website. Here's a question: How many times does that happen in this land? We always speculate about Spotify or Slash quotes and that kind of shit. But this is completely different. We had something, it coincided with the first American show. Ok maybe it the date was discarded before leaking but they can just tweet a generic message denying the release for that date if they are still planning on releasing Perhaps. "It's coming, gunners, just F'N stay tuned"

I totally believe that the page it's gonna turn into a 404 message soon, can someone even explain why should we trust the date given by an Italian article when we can't even trust a date placed into a leaked yet official GNR link? Soon, (when the tour ends i guess) there will be no reason in my opinion to believe that Perhaps wasn't cancelled. But i don't wanna be there. "Maybe even this week", "Any day now" lol fuck this shit.

I think your thoughts reflect what most of us think right now.

That August 11th date was probably the initial plan, and they even commissioned for that graphics to be made at some point.

There is no way to know why or how these plans were changed (or possibly canceled), and I don't think we will ever find out.

None of the people that I know in the industry are that dumb. They understand that “loose lips sink ships” and nothing gets revealed to me until everything is gone over with a fine tooth comb and 100% fully authorized.

So yeah, this band is clearly surrounded by incompetence at very high levels.

So what I'm getting so far from the thread is that:

    - Someone commissioned the fully produced video graphic for August 11th. This seemingly confirmed the band's "initial" plans for the 11th and pushed it to the draft page.

-Someone in the band got cold feet (Probably Axl), OR...

-Some form of incompetence/miscommunication from someone at the band/label/promotion/etc teams.

As someone that has worked in marketing and promotion on the radio side over the years: everything is internal until you want it to be released. It’s marketing 101.

Someone authorized that link fire page to go live. That was NOT an accident.

And if it was an accident, well someone might be getting raked over the coals right now.

    Oh please.

That video doesn’t get posted without approval from any combination of the band, label, and management.

We’re being punished because we found it “before we were supposed to.” End of story.

I agree that the band/label was involved with it, but there was no formal announcement by any. We did in fact find it “before we were supposed to.”

But officially, on official record, nothing was ever announced by anybody, so...

Maybe the date in the graphic saying august 11 was just a placeholder as well?

Doubt it. Someone paid for that video graphic. I think something fell apart in planning, or with Axl probably.
