i think its pretty pathetic to expect gnr to keep you busy and cheer you up during a pandemic.

They are a rock band, not the morning cartoon on the tv.

Gnr is a band that plays music, i expect nothing more nothing less.

What metallica does on youtube is cool. but do i think all other bands are greedy because they dont do the same? hell no.

I totally go with this...also we dont know what is going on with them.

  2. I have just listened to My World and really like it.  Obviously singing as if experiencing a psychotic episode, cleverly captured.  I love his voice which captures the crazy stream of logic in these situations.  When was this released and how was it received?

That's not entirely the case. If the record label decided that they REALLY didn't want to release a new album they could sit on the album. Axl would then have the option of going to court and either forcing the label to release the album, or just having them release GNR from their contract. It's happened to a lot of bands, big and small.

Yes, we know, Axl has been sitting on the new album for ages... but that wasn't the question. Axl does have the power within GNR, but once it leaves his hands the power is in the labels hands. Obviously he has a say, and he controls what is and isn't on the record or in the artwork etc. but that really is where most artists control ends.

GNR are interesting because they own their masters, and the label has recouped all the costs relating to the CD recording sessions (through the best buy deal)... so IF the label bawked at releasing something, could GNR just switch label and release their album with them instead. Think that's the more interesting question.

Thanks interesting comment, I wonder how difficult it would be to switch labels, if it involves court cases then I imagine Axl has had enough of those!

  4. |Just watched an interview with David Coverdale from 11 years ago and he was asked why the band had broken up and he said 'I was sick of being in love with the songs I wrote but the record company not being'.  I just thought it an interesting comment with the question mark over new music from GNR.  It does make you wonder who has the actual power to make things happen.

I've mentioned it before, but it's big thanks to people like Frans, Gibbo, and the many others, and their vault of bootlegs that they graciously posted on their YouTube accounts, that was a huge part in making me such a massive, crazy, obsessed, passionate, diehard (the list goes on, lol) GN'R fan. My favorite band ever (yes, even still in 2020). I know I'm not the only one. I'm a bit on the younger side of the fanbase; I wasn't even alive to experience their prime, and it's not like I had access to tapes to learn about GN'R. A large part of it came from the community who shared what they had on a social medium (e.g. YouTube). I poured over that mass of material that was on YouTube like nobody's business. That was apart of my GN'R curriculum. Don't get me wrong, there's still a decent amount of footage on there, but as we all know, nowhere like it used to be. Just saddens me because as @vloorsmentioned, if they want to accrue new fans, this isn't the way to do it. I know someone posted another link to this footage, I hope that doesn't get taken down.

Edit: Didn't mean to go on a tangent, haha. Just upsetting.

My experience exactly, Youtube led me to finding this amazing group but since most of the cllps that I enjoyed have disappeared, I dont get it as it was widening their fan base and keeping them relevant, crazy.

    I don't agree.

Here in the States, school will be the last to open. Children, thankfully, are a higher priority than businesses.

You think Trump would agree with this?

  7. For those whose Gyms have closed have you thought of going for a run, I go running almost daily (marathon runner) and with the excercise in fresh air (getting outside for an hour) I always come home feeling good.  For non runners maybe this could be the time to start a programme, just a thought.

Yep. When BH joined and axl said he needs to play the old stuff at least for a while , as axl wanted to constantly release new music to the point where there would be no afd, lies or illusions songs played. As the years went by it became clear there would be no new music and the nuguns guys left. Axl was then defned by the bands back catalogue.

Was this his aim, to phase out old stuff and just play new music?

  9. Restriction have got  more severe here in the UK since large groups of people were seen milling about on Mothers day!  I work from home most of the time anyway and I dont have Kids to look after, just my staffie pooch who I sneak out for her walks.  It also gives me time to gen up on GnR stuff being a new fan:)

  10. Thats a very black and white opinion and human brains are most definitely not.  There is always some comorbidiity with perfectionism (which  he may be as this not being able to finish anything is a symptom, especially important stuff) such as anxiety which can be crippling and |Slash leaving was probably the catalyst as well as the death of his good friend from Blind Melon, his mams death etc.

Last time I saw them was 2017, but you could easily tell when Axl was trying and when he was coasting. He put effort into certain songs like Nightrain and I Feel Good, and he sounded really good on those, but he obviously could not have cared less about singing November Rain or Sweet Child for the millionth time. Some songs (like Yesterdays) seemed like they were only played so that the band could say they did a '3 hour show', and not because they actually enjoyed playing it.

    Sad...

others have said it - axl is straight up crazy - therefore he probably did take meds for sure after that period and in and around the 90s half way through illusions tour

i would say he maybe went off those meds in last few years and smokes a lot of weed to chill his emotions and with them munchies gained even more weight

It is such an irony that the type of mental health issues which I think Axl has can also contribute greatly to creativity and charisma, but meds eventually have to be taken as ones life gets more and more chaotic.  This mental health issue usually brings with it eating disorders causing weight gain.  I wish him peace but on an entirely selfish note it probably means he is already doing as much as he can musically and this makes me sad.

In 2009-2010 Axl punched a paparazzi, delayed shows for over two hours, attacked a MYGNR moderator in an extremely profane rant, released a "fuck TMZ" press release, got pissed off at the V8 Supercars show for daring to release a possibly fake quote saying he would have a blast at the show (LOL), cancelled the tour on Twitter, refused to leave the stage at Reading, walked off stage in Dublin, ect. My theory is the leeches became afraid Axl was going to bring the whole thing down and insisted he start taking medication.

He certainly had a busy year!  What happened with Reading and TMZ?

I would suggest that Axl doesn't just get over things or give up, otherwise the NITL would've been a lot shorter, money or not (if you think otherwise, think about how long it took Axl to "forgive" Slash, the NITL tour and possible succeeding albums would've made huuuuuuge amounts of money in 2006-10, with everyone still in their prime).

I just think the guy is near 60. It's hard to be the same Axl anymore. Izzy might be the only guy who hasn't changed that much, from 1991 on he's probably been close to the same guy. Also is your name in reference to Durham, NC? Cool place if it is

    Yes it is:lol:
