When I first started listening to Izzy's stuff, there were many moments where I thought "Man if Axl sang on this, and Slash added some sleazy riffs, this would be a GnR song"

Sounds like a job for A.I. ^_^ Wouldn't mind hearing some Izzy tracks with (fake) Axl on them if anyone out there is clever enough to do that shit. I did watch a video on how to do it a while ago but don't have the time to learn

Absolutely loved Germany! Spent 11 days based out of Frankfurt. Saw that city, Cologne, Black Forest (Triberg), Bavaria (Wurzburg and Lohl), Tannous mountains (Lorsbach, Longenhain), Rhineland (Mainz)

I'd love to revisit Germany and spend more time there. Have been twice before but only for a total of maybe 10 days so haven't seen all that much. The Black Forest is definitely on my list, will google some of these other places you've listed and see if they're up to my standard :D

This week I booked a 3 night/4 day trip to Disneyland Paris for my girlfriend and her sister. They were meant to go in 2020 but Covid had other plans. I'm getting super jealous now and kinda wish I was going too, love a good day in a theme park but I have to stay home and babysit the dog

I can see why people think Down By The Ocean = Box, but Box was released over a year before Axl mentioned DBTO. We know he listened to Slash and Duff's albums back then, there's no reason to think he wouldn't have been aware of Box and the rest of Izzy's songs... maybe they're similar, but I doubt they're the same song.

Izzy first mentioned Down By The Ocean in (I think) 2001 or 2002. In a translated interview from Poplar 1 he said he recorded 10 demos with Duff in April 95 over the course of a week, and specifically names one of them as being called either "Down by the ocean" or " Down by the sea". I agree that Box is a different song, but it's quite funny that Box has both of those potential song titles in its lyrics. Also funny that Izzy refers to GnRs rehearsal place back in the Appetite days as "The Box", another nice little reference to Guns there.

To go a little deeper with the lore, there's an unreleased Ju Ju Hounds song called 'The Ocean' recorded in 1993. It was later reworked and  released under a different name on his 2001 River album (it's one of the reggae tracks), but some time in the mid 90's Izzy had Slash record a heavier "Black Sabbath-esque" version of the song (also unreleased, because Izzy considered it to be too dark).

Would love to hear all these takes one day to see how connected/similar they are.

Actually I am, thanks! :) Not clean yet, but I managed to cut it down significantly. Last time it was just one normal joint instead of the stupid amounts I used to do. I can now go for three weeks without any weed and without anything else as a substitute. Still feeling like shit physically, but the mental aspect is better - which surprises me as I usually get super depressed this time of year, but not this time, not yet. But I'm scared of christmas time, probably gonna need some then to distract from the loneliness. I really miss my family.

By the way Super Lemon Haze is one of my favorite strains! ;) Tried CBD (buds) too and feel the same way about it, but the CBD oil is actually pretty good, helps me a little with anxiety and insomnia.

Sounds like you're doing great, keep at it. Christmas is definitely a struggle for me too, I'm hundreds of miles away from family, and it's the only time of year that I'm guaranteed to have two weeks with absolutely no work calls. Yknow what 2 weeks of downtime and relaxation means.... I wish I could have weed in my possession and not smoke it, but my mind tricks me with those first few joints and I think I'm enjoying it (after the initial "fuck me that's strong" wears off anyway). I'm still pleased with my progress and glad to have kicked the beer/ciggies at least..... Mary Jane is still able to tempt me but I try not to beat myself up about it if I do slip up :shrugs: You need to teach me how to moderate my consumption

  5. Had/have a similiar struggle myself mate, was a heavy weed user for 20 years self medicating ADHD/depression/alcoholism etc. Nowadays I stick to non-alcoholic beers for my beer intake, CBD for my weed intake, and blueberry vape instead of 20 marlboro's - took a while for me to wake up but I feel healthier and I'm more productive. I've slipped up more than once, still occassionally find myself on a week long 'lemon superhaze' induced bender, but the last couple of times when I ran out of weed I was ready to kick it as I realised I didn't actually enjoy it anymore. Sounds like you've reached a similiar conclusion.

Also word of warning and speaking from experience, avoid "legal highs", synthetic marijuana, salvia etc. They will fuck you up.

CBD leaf is okay, it's just marijuana with no THC. Probably just a placebo effect but if I get weed cravings and haven't smoked in months I find that it can relax me (absolutely zero high or stoned effect though).

    Hope you're feeling better :)

Spent the last 10 days traveling through Lebanon and Istanbul. Especially Lebanon is absolutely beautiful and the people are the nicest I’ve ever met!

Looks stunning. Have never been to the country but every Lebanese restaurant I've been to has always been really great food :)

  7. I'm showing 5 out of 5 of the symptoms for the new covid variant :( I was in Scotland during the original pandemic and managed to avoid it completely. Only been in London 3 days and already I'm infected <_<

Gonna spend a weekend in London next month. Stoked.

I'm going to visit my brother in London in the next fortnight, have to say I'm not stoked :rofl-lol:  I work remotely for a company in Australia which means I do night shifts. Trying to sleep during the day in London is pretty much impossible due to the heat and noise. Will be nice for me to see family again though :) What have you got planned for your weekend there?

Add Smoke and I agree with you. 117 degrees is my favorite overall

No disrespect to Izzy but Smoke is the only album of his that I just never got into. I really like the track Gotta Go, but apart from that I just found something a little off with the album. I don't know enough about music production to tell you exactly what it is I dislike, I think I just find it very difficult to hear his vocals on most of this album.

All the other Izzy albums I must have listened to dozens/hundreds of times. Ju Ju Hounds, 117, Ride On, River, On Down The Road, Like A Dog, Wave of Heat..... all of them are superb, and there's some real hidden gems in his discography. Miami, Fire and Concrete all have some really stand out tracks too though I probably listen to them slightly less.

The casual GNR fans ignorance about Izzys role in GNR is just bewildering to me :shrugs:

  10. I collect magnets. I do a lot of travelling and they're a lightweight & cheap souvenir that I can buy from every country I visit. When I get home they don't take up any room in my house as I just stick them on my fridge, and it's a nice way of remembering all of the places I've been :)

Fuck dude, that’s actually awful. Anyone that posted here?

Not sure if they posted here tbh. Re-reading the post at Evo and they maybe didn't even post there, I think the guy who posted it was just talking about members who've passed within the GNR community itself. I said "around 5" as I was going from memory, but it was actually 3 names shared: EFISH, Robman, and Abominable Homan.

I'm sure plenty of others will be gone too. Kinda weird that if someone bumps an old topic you could be reading/replying to someone who's now dead.

What software do you use for these?

Check out this video if you want to learn how to use AI to replace vocals:

Not my video, just one I watched a little while ago, seems easy enough to do but I've not had chance to play around with it yet.

You'll need to feed the program "clean" Axl vocals (no background noise/music). I'm assuming the Chinese Democracy isolated stems from Rock Band 2 are what folk are using, someone on the forum will still have a copy of those. Not sure how you could get 80/90's sounding Axl though as I don't think isolated tracks from that time are available?

  13. Hyped for the Ronda/Shayna match as Summerslam :D Couple of questions for Peacock users if you dont mind:

I have Peacock for all of the PPV's but there seems to be a delay getting Raw/SD on their service, it's always weeks behind schedule. Anyone know why? I use watchwrestling.ai instead but it's ridiculous that I have to use an illegal streaming site to watch wrestling when I'm already paying for a legal stream.

Peacock also tends to buffer quite a bit for me, so by the end of the PPV I'm usually about 5-10 minutes behind the actual live show. Does this happen for others? It randomly just pauses for a few seconds and then carries on, bit annoying though. I have to use SurfShark VPN to access the site since Im outside the US but I've tried dozens of their IP's and it always has the same issue :( Should I buy another VPN or is Peacock just a bit shitty?
