  1. I am sure they asked Izzy, and for whatever reason he doesn't want in.

Frankly for as much as I like the guy I am over his too cool for school routine as there is no reason he shouldn't be doing this reunion.

So other than maybe a 1 off there will be no future reunion of the original 5 because if Izzy was ever going to do it it would be now when the money is crazy and the hype is at it's peak.

Don't know what the guy's deal is but clearly he's just not interested in the Guns thing anymore.

  2. I feel like there's not a lot of buzz, but maybe it's because I don't watch TV.

There really isn't. The entire roll-out has been poorly managed, and it only being a partial reunion is not helping matters.

The age group with the money to pay exorbitant prices they are going to charge wants to see a reunion, not Axl/Slash/Duff playing with a bunch of guys they have never heard of and don't care about.

If Izzy/Steven didn't/couldn't do it then it should have been Matt/Gilby because at least that is a line-up people remember and associate with that Illusions period where they were the biggest band in the world.

The whole process so far has just felt half assed, and there is just no reason to have gotten the ball rolling if they weren't ready to actually have the ball rolling the way it should be done.

  3. The presence of the new band members is a real wet blanket on things. There is also the fact we still have no interviews, press releases or anything from the band that would get across to the public that this GNR tour is different than any of the other tours Axl has been doing for 10 years.

Sadly I am beginning to realize how much he diluted the brand the past 15 years.

Had he not been masquerading as GNR all this time there would be a tremendous hype level that GNR were back together and playing shows again after 20 years being dormant.

  4. The thing is, he performed 20 shows or such, and sounded like that in 2 of them. The last 2.

Well, would you look at that... Practice makes perfect. Who would have thought?

Any professional musician should rehearse, rehearse, and rehearse some more before going on a tour. That's just common sense. It's so dumb to use the first 75% of a tour to warm up your voice so it sounds relatively decent by the end. It should sound good at EVERY show.

It is just a manifestation of how little he respects the fans.

By showing up to every tour out of shape and not ready to go it was a direct reflection of his interest level in giving people his best.

The people at the last show are paying the same prices as the people at the first show, but that never seemed to be of any bother to him.

  5. Hardly.

He is recording a new album with Alter Bridge right now, and has a solo album in the tank ready to release if he ever gets free time.

Slash and Myles may be on hiatus, but at some point down the road I am sure they will find their way back to each other. Slash is too much a workaholic to spend forever doing the Axl work schedule, and will want to create again at some point.

  6. Found myself going back and listening to Contraband for the first time in a while and it is a really really good record.

There are more than a few gems on there. Those guys caught lighting in a bottle on it, and it was a massive shot in the arm for all of them to leave the shadow of their previous bands and stand on their own.

  7. If they really do get back together I actually think there is a good possibility we could get some new music at some point.

Axl will have basically gotten past the 2 decade self imposed mind fucking he put himself through, and being with Slash again may actually spark some creativity he forgot he had musically.

The whole thing is either going to be epiically bad or epically great, and I don't see a possible middle ground.

They are either all going to be inspired as fuck to be back together when it actually happens (which significantly increases the chances for new music) or it is going to be a quick car crash.

  8. I think if God forbid they got together again it would start with some live shows and that's all, but if they were feeling it they would pound out a record quickly.

People lose sight of the fact Axl once put out 3 full studio albums and an E.P with Slash/Duff/Izzy within a 4-5 year span. If the material is right and he's feeling motivated he isn't forever relegated to his current existence of unending doubt and feelings of inferiority the material isn't worthy of GNR.

Slash is absolutely capable of putting out a viscous sounding GNR album guitar wise. Listening to some of his rifts on his solo albums they sound like they were cut straight out of GNR stuff. Something like Wicked Stone with Axl's contribution would be absolutely worthy of carrying the GNR banner.

I don't worry a GNR reunion album would end up like some other reunion albums that have disappointed or sounded dated because Slash is still playing killer guitar, and as long as there is some killer guitar no GNR album would be a let down. God forbid Axl got motivated for one last run and they might really still be able to capture something special.

  9. If they get a new guitarist, you can expect for the BBF and Ashba parts to be wiped aside so the new guitarist can contribute. Then it has to be mixed for a decade again. You may want to start warming yourself up to the idea that a new album isn't going to happen.

There are no "Ashba or BBF parts".

There is alot of dated material from the turn of the century.

  10. Any "New" album will just be the old CD sessions stufff that is already recorded and paid for.

The label is not giving Axl's lazy ass one red cent ever again, so we will just get the dated already recorded stuff as our new music if it comes to that.

Let's be real, neither Ron nor DJ leave if there was a realistic shot at being on a new GNR record starting from scratch. They finally realized I think that no one will ever fund Axl to head into a studio ever again, so theiir future was nothing but being a touring musician or adding a part to old music.

Don't let yourselves get sucked in. We might get some new old music, but creatively the band is dead as far as ever going into a studio and recording a fresh album.

Axl napalmed those bridges with that stunt he pulled with CD and being a lazy fuck that takes the labels money but doesn't finish anything. No one will ever let themselves be victimized like that again financially, which is why this band is for all intents and purposes dead.

  11. You'd be able to power a small city with the amount of electricity there'd be on that stage if they ever re-united and their hearts were remotely in it.

If you could get Axl away from the Brazilian family long enough to convince him to get his shit together for one final run so his career could have a real ending it would be ever so helpful.

They are probably the biggest impediment to a reunion because they are seemingly the only people Axl trusts and they stand to lose the most from a reunited GNR. That is a rotten combination for anyone that hopes to ever see Axl and Slash on the same stage again.

  12. His stage presence could use a little something as well. He isn't the greatest singer / front man out there

He considers himself a guitarist first (apparently a kickass one who we never get to really hear in any of his bands) who just happens to be able to sing. Spent alot of his life playing guitar as opposed to just being a lead singer, probably explains alot of his lack of front man skills.

  13. It's kind of a shame Myles didn't really get his big break until he was in his mid 30's already with AB because for as good a care as he has taken of his voice it is not what it was when he was younger and had some crazy pipes.

I listen to Summergirl and 12/31 from the Mayfield 4 and the notes he hits and sustains at the end of the songs are completely ridiculous. Would love to have heard more of him when he still sounded like that with a real rock band.
