The big performance of the night is something with Beyonce, and then Nicki Minaj will be performing Anaconda and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Sir Mix a lot guest appearance.
That is really going to put butts in the seats.
I saw Fallon being advertised as appearing. In the old days that would have gotten the GNR alarm bells going off for everyone.
-
How far has the GNR community fallen?
I remember years ago when a month before the VMA's we would already have topics up about GNR making a surprise appearance and kicking off round 2 with new music.
Now, just 48 hours before the event we have all accepted seemingly that new music is never coming and GNR is now irrelevant.
How did Axl let this happen as I suspect no one after the VMA's in 2002 could ever have predicted this is where the new band would end up.
-
One pretends to be GnR, the other does not.
This is all that needs to be said in this thread.
If Slash was running around calling himself GNR as the only remaining member people would be much harder on the product he puts out.

Slash has such a big ego that he shares his lead singer with another band and has had to schedule things around when Myles is busy with Alter Bridge.
Slash is a pussy, a real tyrant/ego maniac would have a lead singer that is on call 24/7 for whenever he wants to tour & record music. None of this I'm busy with Alter Bridge, you'll have to wait bullshit he has had to put up with. Axl would never put up with that kind of rubbish.
Also, what is with putting Myles name in the band name? He could learn from Axl. You don't see Axl calling his band GNR featuring Bumblefoot and TB on the album cover and ticket stubs.
Slash has a lot to learn when it comes to properly hogging credit and being a true dictator who's focus is on making sure the spotlight is solely on himself.
The fact his leader singer has Slash's band as his second priority (behind Alter Bridge) should just be totally unacceptable to someone like Slash. There has to be a DJ Ashba type lead singer out there he could hire that would be more than willing to bend over 24/7 for him because he is Slash the way Ashba does for Axl.
Slash is embarrassing himself that he allows himself to be treated like a second class citizen in his own band like this.

Funny how everybody here almost commit suicide when listening to Ashba play Slash songs, but they try to justify this Miles Boring Crap by saying he is "still learning" YCBM.
Slash is not trying to pass himself off as GNR all by himself, so people don't get nearly as upset about anything Myles supposedly butchers as they do DJ.
If you want to impersonate Slash in a GNR cover band, you are expected to be able to play like him. DJ's failure to do so is why he is ridiculed so badly.

forgot that Axl rarely shows up for rehearsals lol.
You'd never know it watching him on stage, particularly at the start of tours.
-
He can't order pizza on the phone by himself.
Have you seen him the past few years?
He might be totally unable to do much of anything else, but I can guarantee you he's got more than 1 pizza place on speed dial.
Axl clearly has no problem getting food for himself.

Slash - Vocalise
One of my favorite Slash pieces and some of his best playing. It is from the Les Paul tribute album, and is Slash's guitar interpretation of Rachmaninoff's classical piece Vocalise. Slash doing classical, who'd have ever thought.
Slash - Streetchild
This is the solo he put down on Elan's Street Child. Totally mind blowing, and stands with his absolute best solos even from his GNR days. It's a shame in a way it was "wasted" on a somewhat obscure indy song, because it should be heard far and wide as his guitar is haunting and you can just feel the emotion in his playing.
-
Love the vibe of the song. Can't put my finger on why.
2 tracks in I like the direction they are going. It sounds like it is going to be a different sounding kind of album from the last Slash one, which is I think what many of us had hoped.

Slash wins either way.
He is releasing new music, and Axl is paying tribute to the music Slash created (with the others) in Guns.

Quite frankly the only people I ever see down on Myles are in the GNR community.
The outside world tends to think quite highly of his talent and voice.
You'd think the guy is a 2 bit bum reading some of the posts about him in this thread, instead of the guy who has won Loudwire's rock vocalist of the year award 2 years in a row now with 2 different bands.

i can't believe some people here prefer this kind of thing rather than a gnr reunion...
frankly, i don't like it at all. there's nothing original in that song, it sounds like it was played before by thousands of bands.
going from masterpieces like "coma" to doing this generic metal music is so disappointing.
Of course everyone would prefer a reunion, but you have to talk to Axl and team Brazil about that.
-
With Axl on vocals this would easily pass for something a 2014 version of GNR would have sounded like.
-
Why hasn't the whole song leaked on some obscure European station yet?
-
The chorus is really sticking in my head right now. If that opening riff from the webisode 3 is the start of the song I actually think it might be kind of good. Sounds way more aggressive than just about anything on AL.

review of the listening party here: http://classicrock.teamrock.com/reviews/2014-06-03/slash-live-at-the-house-of-commons
link isn't working, can you paste the text of the article if you have it?

well, "Battleground" for me is the epic song of the record. There's a song quite heavy with classical vibe too.
Myles said in an interview recently he was totally blown away by the solo in Battleground the first time Elvis played it for him.
-
How long is the album, Slash2baz? With 17 songs, included an 8-min one, I got to think it's above the 65 min. mark.
77 min ! And yeah there's some long songs !
Anything on the level of Anastasia? Any solos you can remember thinking that people are going to love this?

Isn't there a London listening party tonight?
It should be 8:00 over there in the evening right now. Won't be long before we get some kind of report hopefully!
-
He hadn't even played a show yet and was whoring himself out as the GNR guitarist.
That told us everything we needed to know about the guy and what he was hoping to get out of the GNR experience.

They look like twins today. Maybe they could get an act going.

Ron is a professional first and foremost, and among the things listed on here already I suspect Axl's laziness makes his blood boil.
Ron would never dare go on stage as unprepared as Axl often does, and I am sure it bothers him as much as us that Axl rolls off the couch around tour time totally unprepared to put on the kind of show he should be.
It's a little thing in the grand scheme of things, but how can you expect the employees to give a shit about your business when the owner clearly has contempt for it and those who patronize it.
-
Alter Bridge is apparently going to be doing a bunch of touring as well during that time so Slash has to plan around that. He won't get to tour as much as I am sure he would like if it was up to him, but that is all part and parcel with having to share your lead singer with another band.
-
Hope they do a cover of 'Lean On Me'.
With what Axl is tipping the scales at these days that might not be a good idea. It might also be why he stopped coming in contact with others on stage. Fear of crushing or knocking them over.

Slash just kills on that Anastasia video. The whole outro is just freaking awesome.
