  1. Yeah, certainly two separate songs now. Puts that legal registration into question, but, also interesting for me that no Monsters on the Perhaps vinyl might mean that we're guaranteed at least one other track to go along with it on another future release.
  2. So, I asked this the other day, but, didn't get many takers in the leak discussion thread, so, I'll ask here: For those who have heard the recent leaks, what will your reaction be if the "R" side is just what we know of as The General, but, it does not include an official release of Monsters?
  3. Leaving aside any perceived commercial aspirations, ultimately, ALL of these hybrid new/old/Nu Guns songs thus far are merely a time-capsule of an era, an alternate branch reality of shoulda, coulda, woulda. They're cool curios, tracks with some killer pieces, some nice bits n' bobs, some good playing & vocals, but, that's...pretty much it. I don't know...As a fan since the beginning, I can't help but feel a little deflated. These tunes are a huge victory for the die-hards, for these forums, for the nights spent on here, following tours/setlists/etc., but, all the same...this is it. Two decades of speculation, magazine interviews, parsing quotes down to the atom, endless winding debates, and...these are the songs. Don't get me wrong, taken as a whole, there's some really beautiful stuff born from this era.... TWAT, Better, Blues, Catcher, Maddy, Monster, Atlas, Prostitute, a few others...some really gorgeous, mind-bending, heart-wrenching stuff. I mean, sure.....nothing was likely ever going to live up to the impossible bar of idealized imagination, but, all the same, I'm still left feeling, I don't know...a bit sad, maybe? All the amazing band members through the years, their talents, their personalities, the boundless possibilities, and, barring the chance of a further few numbers (or not?), we're pretty much close to closing the book on not just the Chinese era, but, potentially, the recording career of GN'R, and it all feels a bit strange. I'm really sorry if I'm bumming people out, but, it just feels odd to me right now. They may collect these songs into an album configuration in the future, they may not, who knows? We may even get a clearing of the vaults when something happens to Axl down the line, but, I'm not too confident that they will ever record fresh material, either. For this to be it, regardless of what re-jiggered songs we have yet to still get, is just a bit of a shock. Thanks for reading. Rant over
  4. Same user, yes. We're splitting hairs whether it's impossible or inadvisable. Either way, there was a lack of nuance on either side of this "debate." I would wager that neither side making an argument had knowledge of the exact limitations of the format prior to posting. In any case, the Guns camp clearly realized this, as well, as the initial pressing wasn't up to the standard they wanted to offer.
  5. You've missed the point. You CAN have that much music on a side of 7" vinyl, but, there is sonic degradation, if done. A 33 RPM 7" can have about 7 min max before the audio is affected. A 45 RPM 7" can have around 5-6 minutes. You reduce the grooves in order to increase the runtime, you lose fidelity. There's no equivocation here, it's black & white and hasn't changed since around 1948.
  6. Imagine if the b-side on the Perhaps single is literally only The General portion, and we don't get Monsters on the official release
  7. Pretty cool curios for the already converted, but, these definitely wouldn't have helped further justify Axl having the name in the eyes of the general public. I like 'em, personally, but, they would have sounded dated even back then. Nothing I've heard so far is the absolute stunner knockout that would have been required, IMO. BTW - This is all one song, I think?
  8. Getting it to the right spot is tough, if indeed both songs are combined on the b-side. That much music will affect the quality on a 7" record.
  9. Nothing obvious to me, I don't know.. Thought that cell phone clip was The General for eight years and...turns out, it wasn't LOL Songs could switch working titles...who knows?
  10. Went out for 2 hours and all hell broke loose. This is nuts. After 2 decades of hearing about it, we now live in a post-General world! Unreal
  11. Lennon got gunned down in cold-blood 43 years ago and will have a new song out next week. Both Elvis and Axl should do better
  12. You've forgotten about 2015! (which...well, they lost LOL) In any case, I'd back the Mets winning another World Series any day of the week before a new Guns record, but, hey, as David Lee Roth once said, "Hope springs eternal!" Who am I to piss on the dream? Google Stewie Griffin Mets Fan = Incredible!
  13. My friend in the industry said every time I spread my cheeks, gold bullion spills forth. Not so. Mets have at least made it to the world series a couple of times in the past two decades. I wouldn't even consider the last two decades of GnR to be a proper pennant chase. GnR's season is metaphorically over by June every year
  14. I tried to be a decent gentleman and apologize, and I get a terse, neurotic response back. Alrighty! Enjoy your evening.
  15. MoFos in here talking about live improvisational music like GnR are Mahavishnu Orchestra LOL
  16. Oh boy...sorry for getting wires crossed. I was saying so in a joking manner...it was said sort of sarcastically. I apologize. Did not realize English was not your primary language.
  17. Talking Heads haven't been an active band for 32 years and had no problem getting Stop Making Sense pressed on time Wilco - Cousins? No problem New Queens of the Stone Age? No problem Nirvana In Utero 30? No problem Replacements Tim box? No problem Green Day Dookie 30th? No problem Are there still delays throughout the industry? Sure, but, I put this needless delay down to incompetent management. They had adequate lead time.
  18. Beatles won't have any trouble pressing that "Now & Then" vinyl in time Stones put out literally 38 vinyl variants of Hackney Diamonds, no problem This inbred, midwestern cornshucker with the window-washer and her poolboy parasite son for a management team can't get a single pressed with eight weeks lead time? a single!?! Might as well have waited until 12:01AM the morning of to announce the delay you amateur, bushleague banana republic of an operation.
  19. Of course you can criticize them both, but, you surely must admit that one could be forgiven for thinking that it could be perceived as being a little defensive, especially coming from Gn'R fans. It was just momentarily hysterical to me seeing the critiques because Uncle Axl has regularly sounded rough live since at least his late 40s and so many on here have defended him so vociferously, and yet, here are a few of those same fans slagging off Brian Johnson at 76, and after an almost eight year lay-off, at that. I found it ironic, that's all. It's not a contest or a debate.
