I’m going to see Tommy Stinson at a super small venue tonight. If I get the chance to ask him any gnr related questions is there anything I should be asking??
Besides GNR and Replacement stuff? Ask about getting his other solo stuff out on vinyl. Especially Village Gorilla Head and the Perfect album/EP

If radio is alluding to something that’s something
Looks like the vinyl is sold out on the website

“Limited” vinyl cash grab. They threw on Hard Skool to make it different than the normal GH. I personally don’t own GH on any format and won’t start now. It’s funny because every member had problems with its release back in 2004
They haven’t sold out of the AFD banned cover yet (which actually looks great and it’s foiled which the description doesn’t tell you). If you want something a little unique, grab that one. It displays well
This one will probably sit for a while

A lot of it is about offers to tour though- and I imagine the money on the table from promoters (especially outside Europe) is going to be seriously down on what it has been. Taking a break for for a bit recharges demand, offers, all that stuff.
If it was me, I'm not sure I'd be bothered! How much money can you take to the grave with you? Might as well spend a few years relaxing, enjoying life and that ridiculous amount of cash they've amassed since 2016!
It’s this. My guess is they take next year off completely. Late 2025 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band they will target US indoor arenas. Maybe a South America run beforehand. Europe in 2026

They probably need to reset the market and let people miss them. It wouldn’t surprise me if they took next year off or even more from the US. Outside of that? Wouldn’t surprise me to see some shows
The question is if will they work on anything if there’s down time

I wonder if Slash will try to get his old guitar back
Doubt it. He had the chance to buy it privately already. They wanted 6 figures and apparently he doesn’t think it’s even worth that
He played that guitar for a few months before selling it for drugs. For the kind of $ they’re hoping for, it would be more in line of if the Derrig, Jessica, EDS1275, or his Mockingbird etc were available. This guitar is not any of those. He has more connection with the Anaconda Burst than this guitar
-
He’s releasing songs instead of doing a media tour. That’s probably how much he loathes it

Used to happen every now and then at my old place. Mailman would scan packages as “Delivered” then actually deliver them the next day.
This. Sometimes they forget to deliver and scan it late or it was pre scanned before they completed their route. Wait a day or two before getting worried

A band who’s members are in their 50’s/60’s aren’t going to appeal to the masses with or without the hardest rock song you can imagine. Those are some wild expectations
Why does a song’s success matter to people? You either like it or don’t

damn, that's ugly. I like the ufo's though. The guitar looks too real and disturbs the "flow" of it imo as well.
Yeah they just grabbed an image off of gibson instead of creating something. I would have also gotten rid of the basketball seams and just have the logo on a ball. Get rid of the clovers for some green appetite monsters.
The Celtics don’t play at Fenway. It’s a weird choice

Having a Celtics themed poster/shirt is a bit strange

Wtf. I might miss the start of Guns. That is ridiculous
Strict 1030 curfew. I’d expect them on 715-730

It’s $ driven. Recording drums requires time spent in a nice studio. Frank wouldn’t play anything much different than Brain and you have these takes from multi million $ sessions in top studio rooms to use

This is what I meant in my critique. These lyrics are incredibly vague, and not in a good way.
Imo
His savior could be his band/career/dreams, the one who shot could be about anyone around him deciding to leave from relationships, Slash, Duff to Finck, and ultimately now he finds himself alone and the need to rebuild
The song seems to be about taking ownership for his part in shutting out/driving people away and living with those consequences

I mean - yeah, this is just so fucking weird, eh?I just can't understand what they were thinking. Is it :
a) a sloppy cut and paste?
b) Do they just think it sounds good?
c) Is it an artistic statement? (Ie, a musical version of : 'right, fuck off Robin, let's bring in Slash').

It’s intentional. I just think of it as an ode to that version/era

Been too busy this week and in the wrong time zone to keep on top of all this.
Finally had chance to watch the official video and overall it's nicely done. Few changes to song but it's not radically different and I liked Perhaps anyway so I think it's a grower.
Not sure what all this indicates about an album release. Is the plan for all these singles to go on an album plus other unheard stuff or are they just clearing the vaults and an album will consist of genuinely new material? Who knows? Not me!
My guess is we get an EP of all the singles together plus another song or two we haven’t gotten yet. Such as Atlas
After that is anyone’s guess. Does Axl even want to write?

Why would it have to be from the 90's?
If they got in a studio together this year and created it from the ground up from only Axl's lyrics and piano (maybe even with Brain in studio) the statement makes some kind of sense.
I mean November Rain and Estranged existed in a stripped down form before Slash and Duff got anywhere near it.
Songwriting credits are different.
The middle 8 and solo section doesn’t really sound like something those 3 would write. If the credits include Stinson, Finck etc… then we’ll know they just threw Slash and Duff a credit
The way they described it says different though. We know they didn’t write this song in the last 5 years. We’ve also heard that the CD era band were working on a few tunes that originated from the old band

Written and recorded by Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan this year, it stands out as the legendary rock band’s first release since 2021 and first collective new composition and recording together in thirty years since 1993’s “The Spaghetti Incident?”
First collective new composition in 30 years? Are they selling Perhaps as a "new" song?
The only way this makes sense is that the song originated in the 90’s before the breakup
Recording could mean there are some new vocals in there somewhere

So who bought the magic 8-ball?
Easiest decision ever

If they don’t make a magic 8 ball, I might do it myself
Perhaps, You’re Crazy, Not in This Lifetime, Soon is the word, Anything Goes, Sorry, Dive in and find the monkey, Maybe I’ll get it right next time, Thanks to the lame ass security I’m going home

We’re definitely getting a GnR Magic 8 ball in the merch store, right?

Perhaps isn't going to sell tickets. Most of the casual audience isn't interested in new music from GnR. There was a dude at the concert the other night who didn't realize they played SCOM.
Guns have a huge audience and people are going to go to the shows and have a good time whether they release these tracks or not
The song itself doesn’t sell tickets. The majority of people don’t want to hear it at a concert
What sells tickets is the coverage of the song/mentioning the band and the news cycle it generates. That will happen once it’s available

A quick convo with Tommy
in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
Posted
For someone like Tommy, his parts were essentially done by 1999-2000 for a lot of the material. Everything that got added or tweaked afterwards were probably only heard in passing. It’s possible that he doesn’t remember random stuff he put bass on that wasn’t rehearsed and performed constantly
He’s also a professional. You don’t burn bridges. Especially with a band that you were a part of for nearly two decades. Relationships are everything in music. He knows the lines that shouldn’t be crossed
