  1. For example. Oh My God isn’t included on these discs. We have no idea how many songs had vocals by the year 2000. Let alone what he had completed afterwards

Also at the very least even if they were working on around 20 songs for an album during that period, that’s not a bad number and pretty typical for most artists

Actual footage of Bob Ezrin listening to Silkworms with a colleague and then facing Axl Rose:

I’ve always thought that Ezrin was brought in by UMG/Iovine to send that message. (The fact that Axl might listen to him since he respects him)

    1. So that Ezrin could be brought in for some work/writing credits

    2. To convince Axl that something was missing from the songs (Slash) and get a reunion album out of it

No, it's not possible. Again: if the management team of ANY band try to do this, this become the news to report.

If Rolling Stone thinks they’ll get access in the future that’s why they’d hold off. Same with any other sites. That includes speaking with Slash/Duff....

As far as other sites not reporting, I don’t think these songs from that era moves the needle. Especially 1 song/clips at a time. Now if 10-12 songs come at once that’s enough to talk about. A lost GNR album holds more weight than 5 clickbait articles about a 20 yr old demo.

If anything it should show the hoarders that these songs aren’t worth as much as they thought in the past outside of the community and maybe the lack of response is a reason some of this stuff continues to come out as the demand/buyers aren’t really there. They will continue to decrease as Slash/Duff are involved. Especially if they are working on these songs. They need to cash in and divest

Who the hell said anything about silkworms?

I was talking about playing the same songs, some more old classics but changing around the order to keep it interesting. Also, if we're talking about the 85% we better take another look at that set, because Coma died a death at a lot of shows. Maybe they should only play SCOM, NV, Paradise city etc. or maybe they should put on a show that is entertaining and even if they do play an obscure or new song somewhere in the set, they won't lose huge portions of the crowd.

Have you honestly went to see them and not been bored? I love the band, but the set was boring in places the first time for all the reasons I mentioned earlier.

The set seems boring because you know what’s coming. For 90% of the audience they don’t know and probably enjoy the covers as it’s a surprise. Most people don’t scour for past setlists before a show. Especially a stadium show crowd.

They seem to have a set of songs they rehearse and prepare for a tour, the staples are played every night regardless and they’ll add some off of the alt list or even add a few new ones as the tour goes on.

It’s night 1 and people are freaking out

    1000% this.

I'm addition, I could be wrong but I think there's still the option for anyone to not listen if they don't want to lol.

Over the past month, we've had the most new GNR music to listen to in about 11 years, yet some people are complaining about too many versions of CD tracks we already had.

Which lends to the theory that some people will complain about anything.

Outside of an official release this is what everyone has wanted for years from the post UYI band. Unheard demos and the progression of CD songs from their early stages. People wondering what he did from the late 90’s to Rio has been answered over the last few weeks

I just wanted to say that its crazy that the first batch of leaks (snippets) came way back in 2002 and here we are 17 years later still chomping at the bit for CD-era leaks!

It's also crazy how the internet and forum culture has been part of our lives for even longer than that now!!

PS: is anyone else thinking of making a separate album for the instrumentals if more of them leak?

    And these leaks predate 02

Slash and Duff are not going backwards. Yet they look in better shape than Axl.

I'm not asking Axl to look the same way he looked back in 1991. But I believe he still can look closer to the 2006 Axl if he willing to make the effort. He has the right to do anything he wants to. And we have the right the point out that a few things could be better.

No one ages the same. You also don’t know of any health issues that may be related to appearance like a thyroid issue.

Care to comment about the performance all you like, but people who are caught up in his physical appearance is a bit much

Axl, you fucking did a killer job expanding the GNR brand with these different songs. I don't know why they weren't released sooner.

Perhaps label politics played a part?

Would've been better to get the record outta your system in 1999 and move on with subsequent albums. Atlas is a more mature ballad, Hard School is a solid throwback, Perhaps is catchy, and Zodiac is killer.

    What the hell Geffen?

It wasn’t Geffen. By that point it was UMG

Supposedly if you read across the Internet there are far more songs than we realize that people have in complete lyrical form.  I think several more of those songs from storage have vocals because if you read the listings/pictures some of them show no vox.  But a larger chunk just have song titles and time and then some other random number and date.  I remember some interview somewhere with maybe tommy or someone who said they had an A list and B list and it was something like 60 songs.  Someone elsewhere had stated there was another disc with song “dragon” on it.  That disc is supposedly chuck full of finished songs.  I just hope we are lucky enough to keep hearing stuff like this. I also hope the band releases it (ALL FINISHED TRACKS) in pure form someday one way or another.  I’d buy it all in a heartbeat.

Who knows what they had completed around 2000. Having around 20 or so songs to work through isn’t horrendous output if it’s true there’s not much else. I’m sure that number was different by 04-06 after Bucket arrived

Remember when they described the album in that 1999 Spin article as "sounds like Physical Graffiti remixed by Trent Reznor"? Am I the only one who gets a bit of "Fool In The Rain" during the verses? Not from Graffiti, but close enough.

I get John Lennon vibes in the verses followed by Soundgarden all produced by Trent.....and it somehow all works.

I wonder if they doubletracked his voice like Lennon if it would get that vibe completely

  11. Demos are supposed to be a demonstration of the song. Not to be judged as final product. It gives an idea of what you have and what to work on. I hope people understand this before comparing to official releases. Some demos are more flushed out than others. Some get used as actual takes.

I think everything that has come out needs a good mix at the very least and some needs more. Im guessing the stuff that was close to release at that time is more flushed out, while stuff considered to be on later albums wasn't as much and needs more work. Also remind people this was around the year 2000. It probably changed considerably since then as they were still in the studio for a few more years.

They ended up losing a ton of money as a result. It's as simple as this - at the turn of the millennium a traditional GnR album would've been really unfashionable. This material gave Axl a fighting chance of weathering the storm, for all he wouldn't have sold 15 million. Universal Music wasted a fortune and a career here.

Technically they recouped w the Best Buy deal. Entirely at the cost of their artist’s career. Shame on them

I mean what the fuck was wrong with all these industry people? We should've got the Beavan album around the turn of the millennium - it only got harder and harder to explain to the public after that high point of interest.

Slash wasn’t on it and they wanted to sell an album with him. Didn’t matter how good the songs were. They wanted money

I know Axl made that same laugh as used in this song, but I can't see any good reason on why would he cover this song. I hope it's just a joke in the title.

I see. Well, I still cant hear much of those artefacts in the transition of the notes as its not something I think it's as robotic as you say. I do think that when he sings "too hard school" is a bit more weird (or maybe unnatural) to me.

Did Axl admit he used vocal tuning tho? I don't remember that. I'm sure he have, but I just don't remember any quotes about that besides when he denied using it in live performances.

Wasn’t there a Curly impersonation at the start of Chinese Democracy in Boston 2002?

I wonder what's Axl's been doing all those years if 26 songs were as good as finished 13 years ago, and written almost 20 years ago.

I’d guess it has more to do with label politics. It’s not that the label/GNR wouldn’t have liked to release the follow up. The question was probably at what cost? The numbers that were being thrown around prob didn’t make sense for either side
