axlslash Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I'm really diggin' these boys right now. A beautiful combo of Irish folk and punk. Here are some of my favorite lyrics of theirs:Kiss Me, I'm ShitfacedI play in a bandWe're the best in the landWe're big in both Chelsea and FranceI play one mean guitar and then score at the barThere's a line of chicks waiting for their chanceSo come on now honey, I'll make you feel prettyThese other gals mean nothing to meLet's finish these drinks and be gone for the night'Cause I'm more than a handfull you'll seeSo kiss me I'm shitfacedI'm Soaked I'm soiled and brownin the trousers she kissed meAnd I only bought her one roundI can bench press a carI'm an ex football starwith degrees from both harvard and yaleGirls just can't keep upI'm a really love machineI've had far better sex while in jailI designed the Sears towerI make two grand an hourI cook the world's best duck flambeI'll take the pick of the LITTERAnd girls jockey for meI don't need these lines to get laidI'm the man of the nightA real ladies delightSee, my figure was chisEled from stoneOne more for the gal then I'll escort her homeCome last call, I'm never aloneI own a house on the hill with a red water bedIt puts Hugh Hefner's mansion to shameWith girls by the pool and italian sports carsI'm just here in this dump for the gigAhh, fuck it. Who am I shittin'?I'm a pitiful SIGHTAnd I ain't all that brightI'm definitly not chisEled from stoneI'm a cheat and a liarNo womAn's desireI'll probably die cold and aloneBut just give me a chanceCause deep down insideI swear I got a big heart of goldI'm a monogamous manNo more one night standsCome on, Honey let me take you homeWarrior's CodeYou're the fighter you've got the fireThe spirit of a warrior, the champion's heartYou fight for your life because the fighter never quitsYou make the most of the hand you're dealtBecause the quitter never winsNo!You were born to box in a city that's seen their shareMello, Ryan, Carney, among them your photo proudly hangs thereAbove the bar in the Gaelic ClubThey tell the story of a throwbackWith the heart of a lionThey salute your gloryIt's another murderous rightAnother left hook from hellA bloody war on the boardwalkAnd the kid from Lowell rises to the bellA Few Good MenIt's time we stood up for ourselves so get up off your knees. We'll shake off our detractors and attain our hopes and dreamsand if we fall prey to in-fighting, we're never gonna win,so put aside your differences, sing loud, sing proudWe won't listen to their stories or be waylaid by their liesit's a dram that's still attainable for kids like you and ISo if we all stand together singing one defiant songour voice will reach the heavens, so sing with all your heartJoin us in a songwe shall rise and sing stand up and be countedsing a song for liberty join us in this songtogether we shall sing rise up and be countedsing it loud, sing it proudWe've been brutalized and crucified, the brunt of their attacks,is corruption not their trademark and compassion what they lack?If we can realize our common goals, the end of which is plain united and now stronger, their loss is now our gain! axlslash Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 Just heard these songs live last night, they rocked! That's amazing! Did they do Shipping Up to Boston or William McBride/Green Fields of France/No Man's Land? Those are two of my favorites of theirs (even though they didn't write em).I can only imagine how amazing it must be to be in a packed club all pumping fists and yelling "Will you be a lousy scab or will you be a man"... axlslash Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 Dirty Glass is my personal favorite at the moment. "It's all in the past, bitch, 'cause now I got it beat!"Blackout and Sing Loud are my two favorite albums, but Do or Die is certainly up there. I'm also really into Warrior's Code. The live record is also quite fantastic. Quote
