Gallagher Rose
Their new singer really sounds like Avril Lavigne meeting Sharon Adel (Within Temptation).here's their new vid:http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=GdZn7k5rZLQI know why they sacked Tarja..probably because she was too metal for them..Well,at least Annette is hot Edited September 24, 2007 by Gallagher Rose
moreblack
I'm one of the few who think this is an improvement. I could never get into Tarja's voice or accent while singing...So this may be the first Nightwish anything that I willingly listen to. Guest Satanisk_Slakt
Never really listen to anything of it. First album was with no doubt the best. Everything else sounds exactly the same. Don't know what I think about this new song. It's ok, but I don't know if it's worst or better then Tarja.

dally
I realy like the new album... got to listen to the promo..Been a Nightwish fan since the begining and the last two albums was not so opera as the first ones. It`s just a natural way for the band to take the music a step forward. This is gonna be great..But saying they are pop is just plain stupid.. chicagocoma13
I'm one of the few who think this is an improvement. I could never get into Tarja's voice or accent while singing...So this may be the first Nightwish anything that I willingly listen to.I did not like her at first as well. Then after listening to Oceanborn around 10 times and reading the lyrics I realized this was one of the best metal albums I had heard in years. A masterpiece and by far their best IMHO. The first album is great as well even though it is a demo album. It is not as heavy as Oceanborm but has a great Floydish 3 part song at the end as well as the haunting balad and title track Angles Fall First. After those I liked Once but not Century Child. Wishmaster had it's moments. On Oceanborn check out Stargazers, The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean, Swanheart, and the epic The Pharoh Sails to Orion. Like I said this album (Oceanborn) did not hit me at first but after reading so much critical praise I made myself listen to it and realized it's brillance. Hate the new singer and totally agree with the first post. She sounds like 100 other average singers. I have yet to hear the complete new album and will reserve judgement until I but the cd when it comes out here. chicagocoma13
Nightwish has always been pop music.Disagreed, Symphonic/Power Metal..I think real metal begs to differ. If you do not think Iron Maiden, Priest, Helloween, Synphony X, etc.. are real metal then you would be right. This is the style of Nightwish. Power Metal is what I would call it---

I know perfectly well what power metal is, and nightwish is NOT in that genre. And did you just say Priest was Powermetal?

This is the style of Nightwish. Power Metal is what I would call it---Sorry---but I have been listening to those bands for 25 years. Iron Maiden, Priest, early Kiske era Helloween are considered the godfathers of Power Metal. And as for Nightwigh being Power Metal just listen to the first song off Oceanborn. We are talking Nightwigh from 1998 and not the latter stuff--- Edited September 24, 2007 by chicagocoma13

chicagocoma13
When I said Godfathers this is what I meant (I just now went to that encyclopedia on the net and there are like 8 different power metal band types.) Here's what was listed as some examplesAmerican/Classic Power MetalMain Influences: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Accept, SavatageExamples: Manowar, Jag Panzer, Crimson Glory, Metal ChurchEuropean/Melodic Power MetalMain Influences: Queen, Iron Maiden, Rush, ScorpionsExamples: Helloween, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Sonitca Artica, Primal FearNow I know the Wiki site is not always on target but c'monAll Power metal bands owe something to Priest, Maiden, etc... which is why I refer to them as the godfathers IMHO

-Sephiroth-
Of course Nightwish is metal. I wouldn't call it power metal or heavy metal, but it is pretty obvious it's metal. Not all metal bands have to sound like priest or any of the original metal pioneers.
