sweetness
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vum3qgoh0x4I swear to god its the stupidest fucking thing Ive ever heard, but it apeals to everybody else so fucking much. Even some of my friends who are all like "yUo c4NT Sp3lL CRAP weeethowt R4p!!!11!!!1" love it and have even learned the stupid dance. Now, I dont listen to rap and I find the entire mainstream of hip hop to be a complete fucking joke, but I'll admit there have been a few songs that I can at least acknowledge as catchy fun songs and I can understand why people like them, this isnt one of them at all, but it seems to have caught on stronger than anything else. The only reason I really give a shit is because last weekend I heard really good rap for the first time in my life, and it was fucking awesome. Last year I decided to be open to the idea that rap might not actually be complete shit and it finally payed off. Im not gunna lie, this stuff was really good! It just had this great laid back vibe and I loved every fucking second of it, I feel like an idiot for not asking who it was cause I would have actually gone out and bought the album. I was just amazed at the musical quality, there was actually musical quality... and it kicked ass.So what is it about doing shit to hoes and going to clubs to half ass beats that apeals to the mainstream more than just chilling back and actually sounding inspired? Are people really this fucking stupid? Am I missing something? Edited October 13, 2007 by sweetness

arnold layne
Yeah, it's popular over here too. It seems like today's expectations have declined in the music industry.

ffrankwhite
So what is it about doing shit to hoes and going to clubs to half ass beats that apeals to the mainstream more than just chilling back and actually sounding inspired? Are people really this fucking stupid? Am I missing something?because hip hop tends to express the immediate pleasures of life which appeals to people. it doesnt make them worse or better people than the ones who like to reflect and listen to something "inspired". its the difference between living a moment and assessing a moment. also hip hop isnt embarassed by riches as rock n roll sometimes seems to be.
