I don't like John Petrucci, and Dream Theater better than Ramones. But I do accept that John Petrucci is a better guitarist than Joey

by miiiiles, and Dream Theater are ten million times 'better' musical-wise than any of the members in The Ramones.

so much for musical knowledge, Joey werent a guitarist. and just as Johnny Ramone cant play like Petrucci, by the same token, he cant play like Johnny, he cant play that fast, for that length of time, with that kind of continous meticulous kind of timing. why'd you think it was so hard for the ramones to find a drummer until they came across mark bell? its not that people cant play the ramones music, its just that they cant play it the WAY ramones played it. you're starting to show a distinct lack of musical knowledge here RP, and i dont even play well at all

music simply doesnt work that way, i mean, i could make a case for Mark Bell, the ramones drummer (Marky ramone) being better than Keith Moon if i wanted to. Moonie was a fucking legend, just incredible behind the kit but he was like that because the music of the Who afforded him the space and oppertunity to be so, to provide those lavish drum fills and physical histrionics but when it came to like, keeping time, like jazz type drumming, he was hopeless, he was what you might call a lead drummer, he'd look to the lead guitarists and bounce off the riffs as opposed to the bass as the typical rhythm sections do, it just wasnt his niche (precise timing i mean), Marky however had impeccable timing, still does...is that to say moonie sucks all of a sudden cuz he cant play those oh so simple ramones tracks? of course not, does that then make marky crap cuz he cant do that other shit? no...music simply does not work like that.

its not about better or worse...different types of musicians work for different types of music.

for 45 minutes a gig with barely a break between songs, at breakneck speed, all downstrokes, all the while keeping perfect time? all barre chords? i'd like to see it...theres a very distinct reason why it always took the ramones a hard slog to find replacements for Dee Dee and Tommy.
