See unlike some of the stupid cocksuckers on this board, I do not post negative shit about the person in question, out of RESPECT.

I have enormous respect for his talent. As a human being he left a whole lot to be desired, and I'm not the least bit hesitant to say that, recently deceased or not.

And that's fine. I'm sticking to my guns, and will not say shit about the guy, wether he was a good human being or not. And I have a feeling you do not know, why I posted what I did.

yeah but you could say that for most of the hallowed halls of rock n roll. jerry lee lewis, keith moon, axl rose, jim morrison, chuck berry, john lennon..they all knocked a good few girls around in their time. in fact you might say its like an occupational requirement its so frequent. not that that makes it right.

I agree. The man was amazingly talented. But his legacy will forever be tainted by how he treated the women in his life.

So someone dies and instantly everyone's supposed to pretend they were some sort of saint? Dying is a natural process, not an achievement.

You can't expect people to respect someone who had so little respect for the people closest to him.

That's not what the fuck I am talking about. I know the guy was no saint, but out of respect for the fact that he has just passed, I won't make comments about him. Some people do fucking care you know?

The whole reason I brought this up, was because there is another thread about someone who has passed, and being a great person, is still getting shit on. Understand?

theres a subtle difference between pretending someones a saint and being tactful. example, Keith Moon dies, someones at his funeral, they dont go "he was a good man, a trail blazing drummer extrodinaire...bit of a dickhead though huh? i mean he acted like a total cock when he was drunk. embarassed so many people around him. and that solo album, what WAS he thinking? oh well, ashes to ashes"

hmm?

Tact be damned. The guy was a major fucking bastard. By no means is that the only thing he deserves to be remembered for, but it's a pivotal part of the package. Not acknowledging it is dishonest.

yeah but...point being, theres a time to do these things. theres bad points about everyone on this earth, me and you included (surely not!! not us!!) but when someone passes away, unless they were inherently evil like Hitler or something you dont dissect the poor bastards. if that was the case, theres very few rock stars whoose passing you could mourn without a laundry list of negative points. we aint St Peter at the pearly gates, we're just normal folk and Ike had any number of commendable qualities.

I respect him as an artist, not as a man. The fact that he died doesn't change my feelings, and I don't feel the least bit compelled to pretend otherwise.
