What do you know about website design?

I want to have a go at designing a website, as it will be good experience to put down on my CV when I apply for Graphic Design degrees. Does anyone know of any sites offer free websites Or is anybody here setting up their website and would like me to design it for them? PM me or leave me a reply here if you think you can help. (I'm an Art and Photography student currntly, so expect something a little quirky lol!)

Hey,

You could get a copy of Dreamweaver (hooky or otherwise), or things like Blue Voda are free that do more or less the same job - however, if you are doing it primarily for experience - it'd be good for you to use Dreamweaver, as that is the standard app in the industry.

I'd highly recommend familiarising yourself with Dreamweaver, Macromedia Studio MX, Final Cut, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator if you want to get a foot in the web design door.

Given the price of them, you may have to be a bit creative with your "aquisition" of them unless your parents just won the lottery.

That's all you really need to know.

Trust me... I've blagged a lot of jobs with a mac [though that's not necessary] and a good ability with all the software...

I'd be skint otherwise because I can't write HTML for shit... well... not that well... but I can use these applications inside out and upside down having spent a long, long time learning.

No problems... as they say...

Also... take millions of photos as well so that you have a huge bank of random images to use that aren't copyright so you can build them into backgrounds, buttons etc.

It's worth getting a decent camera phone with at least 5 megapixels, that way you always have a camera in your pocket with a decent quality image.

I just got hold of a Nokia N95 8GB with my contract. I can't stand Nokia phones, but the image and video quality is great.

iv made a few websites mostly just using html. you can use like notepad to write html then upload it using an ftp client but you still need to have a server like those free website things.
