And the greatest song of all times is . . . .

I know - there is no way to judge what the best song of all time is.

In terms of rock music, Stairway to Heaven usually wins out when they do the rock poll. I think I've seen Satisfaction be named it once. Maybe Dream On.

But in MY OPINION there is one song that I think deserves to be called the greatest song of all time.

Why?

The original is just kick-ass.

It can make you cry. It can make you smile. You just close your eyes and listen.

It has been covered by some of the most legendary performers of all time.

It was attached to a hit movie, and you can't think of the movie without thinking of the song.

It's been a "hit" in three different decades.

The opening is just brilliant. Soft and simple - but has more emotion than anything being produced today.

Got it???

Stand By Me . . . by Ben E King.

Fucking brilliant. Who doesn't love this song?

And if you don't like Ben's version . . . . John Lennon just kills it. Everybody creams their shorts about Imagine, but I think Lennon's Stand by Me is ten times better than Imagine.

Others that have recorded versions of it include:

Otis Redding

Marvin Gaye

Sam Cooke

The Fugees

John Mayer even has a pretty cool version.

Your thoughts?

No, best song ever is detachable penis by king missile...I mean just look at the lyrics they're pure genius

I woke up this morning with a bad hangover

And my penis was missing again.

This happens all the time.

It's detachable.

[background singing begins: "detachable penis" over and over]

This comes in handy a lot of the time.

I can leave it home, when I think it's gonna get me in trouble,

or I can rent it out, when I don't need it.

But now and then I go to a party, get drunk,

and the next morning I can't for the life of me

remember what I did with it.

First I looked around my apartment, and I couldn't find it.

So I called up the place where the party was,

they hadn't seen it either.

I asked them to check the medicine cabinet

'cause for some reason I leave it there sometimes

But not this time.

So I told them if it pops up to let me know.

I called a few people who were at the party,

but they were no help either.

I was starting to get desperate.

I really don't like being without my penis for too long.

It makes me feel like less of a man,

and I really hate having to sit down every time I take a leak.

After a few hours of searching the house,

and calling everyone I could think of,

I was starting to get very depressed,

so I went to the Kiev, and ate breakfast.

Then, as I walked down Second Avenue towards St. Mark's Place,

where all those people sell used books and other junk on the street,

I saw my penis lying on a blanket

next to a broken toaster oven.

Some guy was selling it.

I had to buy it off him.

He wanted twenty-two bucks, but I talked him down to seventeen.

I took it home, washed it off,

and put it back on. I was happy again. Complete.

People sometimes tell me I should get it permanently attached,

but I don't know.

Even though sometimes it's a pain in the ass,

I like having a detachable penis.

Great song.

I personally think the greatest is:

"Billie Jean" by Micheal Jackson. To me that song is just perfect. Good Lyrics, Great Beat, and It never gets old. It is song that you can play anywhere.

I think that it probaly hasn't been cover as much the song you mention (Stand By Me).........because its perfection. Why mess with it.

It's good. Real good, actually. But I'd take Sam Cooke's "Touch the Hem of His Garment" over it anytime.

I love that song, but prefer (What A) Wonderful World for sentimental reasons.

Great tune, as well, but "Touch the Hem of His Garment" is just so fucking soul-wrenching, it's such a good vocal performance.

No, the best song of all time is Monsoon by Tokio Hotel :D

Shut up!
