UseYourAppetite
Okay so most of you have probably heard about the comparisons between Pink Floyd's Echoes and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom Of The Opera and how he allegedly stole the song's main riff. If you haven't then here's a .Anyway I was wondering do you think he really stole the riff, or was it just coincidence that they sound near identical, and also which do you prefer? kevdo242
Pure coincidence, most likely. Lloyd Webber probably took 2 chords that sounded nice and added some notes between them that just happened to sound like Echoes. And Echoes is better. Becket
Yeah I think it is a coincedence. And Echoes is better. I love that song.
Death Star
They sound similar and yes I like Lloyd Weber's version as well as Floyd's! Both are amazing.
LEARNING PROCESS
C'mon guys... He stole it. There's no way that could be a coincidence, since he must have heard Echoes.
The Sandman
Prefer Phantom.
Estranged Reality
I don't think Andrew Lloyd Webber needs to steal from Pink Floyd.

quadlaser
Ha, I've thought of this before. I'll bet he subconsciously ripped it off.but then again, great minds think alike.
pain cake
C'mon guys... He stole it. There's no way that could be a coincidence, since he must have heard Echoes.I dunno if you play an instrument, or how musically inclined you are, but they're both very simple pieces and one could easily emulate either without knowing. This was stolen very intentionally... Use your ears and logic.
Spuffy78
Manson's The Said Hell's not Hot has the same opening Riff as Alice Cooper's Devil food.So it's nothing that's entirely shocking.
