Estranged Reality Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 (edited) One of the things I admire about them is how different each album is - some of it's just noise, others like Stoned and Dethroned are basically gentle shoegaze. The song Dirty Water just clicks with me every time I hear it. Simple lyrics but they mean a lot when you hear the melody, and the way he sings the words:It's off then it's onIt's on then it's goneIt's high and it's steepIt's wide and it's deepFuck with me, and I'll fuck with youIsn't that what we're supposed to doKick me down and I will kick you tooIsn't that what we're supposed to doI've been swimming in the dirty waterI've been swimming where the fish won't goIt's off then it's onIt's on then it's goneSo basic and repetitive but it works to such great effect with the melody.Great "chill out" music. Gram Parsons Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Amazing band, psychocandy is my favourite album by them.Just like honey is one of the finest songs ever, it really is perfect. Bobbie Gillespie of Primal Scream used to be their drummer, love them as well. Quote
wasted Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Yas indeed.Honey's Dead is one of my favorite albums. It's not Psychocandy but it's their most consistent set of songs. The album after that, was another rocking collection. I think this was around the time they were on Lolapalooza tour. It has covers and originals on it. Very good value - 20 songs. Snakedriver is immense, so is Reverence.I just liked it when they became dark, anthemic and scuzzy.Honey's Dead is quite poppy, infectious. Quote
Lithium Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I've only got Psychocandy, and I really enjoy it. Perhaps I'll check out more of their stuff. Quote

bluesy Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Psychocandy is awesome, but it can be grating when you're not in the mood for a screeching guitar onslaught. Honey's Dead is fucking beautiful, though. A little more accessible. I should check out the rest of their catalogue if I'm not destroyed by the end of exam season. Quote
M_B Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 excellent band. but they gotta stop letting actresses sing with them. Quote
