Nickelback is a late 90s Alternative Rock band, how can you say "1980's"? :rofl-lol: Didn't you notice Bon Jovi still play a kind of music which is not massively popular anymore and still sell million? You should notice that Bon Jovi are not getting MTV kid fans like the Alternative Rock bands.

JKKDARK
Then 99% of the music bands must be shit then. You people are saying that a bands which sell millions without following the actual trend is shit, then everything is shit.Only because you don't like a band, it doesn't mean it's shit. I don't like U2, but they survived every trend with success (like Bon Jovi), so they must be good.highvoltage: 40 years old women only care for Bon Jovi? Then how can you explain I'm a 20 years old Bon Jovi fan who go to their concerts and buy their albums? How can you explain all these sell-out concerts? You can't compare this band with Bon Jovi.No they don't. Just because something is Alternative Rock does not mean it is the same. Bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden were talented bands and the only reason they were lumped in as Grunge was because they came from Seattle and all that shit was capitalised and commercialised upon. They are a million times closer to bands like Zeppelin, Aerosmith or Sabbath than any shitty hair band. Nirvana was the only true Alt. band as they were the only ones with a non-mainstream sound in comparison to the other three. Nickelback on the other hand tries to act like some bad amalgamation of these bands and fails miserably because they lack talent, originality, the sound that these bands had, they are way too commercial and they are closer to being pop than they are to grunge/hard rock just like the majority of hair metal bands.Obviously it's not the same, Nickelback is Post-Grunge and Pearl Jam/AiC/SG/etc are Grunge, both are sub-gernes of Alternative Rock. And they are not close to Led Zeppelin or any other Hard Rock group. Didn't you notice how these Grunge groups didn't get success in the 80s? Back then Hard Rock was in the top.

kevdo242
Cliff Richards been making shit music since the 50s. That doesn't make him any better. It just means a lot of his fans have stayed loyal to his shit music, as Bon Jovi's fans did to theirs. Bon Jovi is just a by-product of 80s MTV. Sucking all the intensity out of rock music, acting like the punk movement never happened. The Stooges sold fuck all when they were around but that doesn't mean they were shit, just because they weren't top selling on the highest selling whatever. Who really cares? The point is, just because a couple hundred of nostalgic middle-aged fuckwits want to rekindle their youth by hearing Livin on a Prayer live again doesn't mean the music is any better than anyone with real talent.I guess you like Daniel O'Donnell too? They play their newer stuff massively; they don't use anything of their past (and most popular) fashion. Maybe it's really hard for you to notice that all their later albums don't sound like New Jersey or Slippery When Wet.Bon Jovi was signed to Mercury because their song Runaway was a big success on the New Jersey local radios. When it happened, Bon Jovi still wasn't formed, it was Jon with random musicians and without even a manager. MTV had nothing to do with the formation of Bon Jovi.Only one person (you) can't say a band is shit if this band has million of fans even if the trend is gone.I never listened Daniel O'Donnell, so I can't say if like this musician or not. madison
Bon Jovi is a survivor. He's managed to release albums and sell out stadiums for decades, which is a rare feat for a band. There are very few who have accomplished this - maybe Aerosmith, the Stones, U2, and Madonna. He's managed to create music that trascends generations, and, even if you don't like him, you have to respect him for being able to accomplish that. He wouldn't have been able to do that if he didn't have talent. Britney will not be selling out stadiums 20 years from now - In fact, nobody will even remember her name. Same goes for the Muse - :xmasssanta: - another flavor-of-the-month band. So, I think all of this trash talk about BJ is unfair. Actually, I think the main reason some of the younger kids on the forum diss him is simply because Axl trashed him once - - which is hardly a valid reason.
