Best bands of the 00s

I'm not acting snobbish, I just think it's ridiculous how much of a big deal people have made of a 1500 word post. That really ISN'T a lot.

If people are going to act like it's a bad thing to make posts like that I'm going to defend it. This place would be better if there were less one-liners and more well thought-out posts.

You got to understand that this day in age, people would rather have a discussion consisting of 100 replies than two replies with 1500 words each.

I'll elaborate.

The internet forum phenomena took it's first steps somewhere in the mid-90s. More accurately, 1996-ish. Back in those days, when the internet was just a luxury for quite a low number of people worldwide, the message boards (or - forums, discussion boards, bulletin boards) were just what the name suggests. A board to put messages on. Whether it's "does anybody have the new Chinese Democracy CD" or "To all Skid Row listeners: Skid Row causes emphysema, and will ultimately turn your lungs brown", the internet forums, back than, were filled with "shoot and scoot" messages. Meaning people leaving messages and leaving the forum, coming back a day, a week or a month later to check if they have replies. Most of the forums back then were anon, too. A fact that allowed people to ask the most obscure and bizzare questions, or leaving the most controversial opinions. All those things combined created a virtual surrounding which demanded posters to pack as much information as they could in their posts, knowing that people don't stay in the forum for a long time, and if there's information needed to be passed, then it's better be done in this one time a month that specific posters logs in.

Fast forward to 2008, and the world is in a different place today. We don't pay for the internet per hour anymore. Our 38k slow as fuck modems evolved into broadband connections, that transfer Mega-Bytes easily in no-time. And most importantly - we don't have Spice Girls' "Wannabe", Los Del Rios' "Macarena" and Oasis' "Wonderwall" as our biggest hit singles. Of course, with the course of years, our society evolved into something different, too. The times of being hip, wearing tights and listening to Nirvana when you fight with your parents have transformed to being dope, wearing baggy pants and listening to Linkin Park when your girlfriend leaves you. People are sharper, faster, and colder today. In many people, the feeling of social acceptance, and sharing of viewpoints and liquids have transformed to getting an "lol" smiley on the various virtual communities that have emerged. Since we don't pay for internet per hour anymore, and we have cable connections or ADSL or whatever, we can allow ourselves to stay tuned every second of the day, the week or the month. People are fast acting, and they want their shit right here and right now. And if you can add a laughin' smiley to that, you make them even happier. Then it's out the hell of this forum and onto the next news site, to check on if those Israeli bastards are still running over infants with their tanks and use their blood to make Matzahs, after that, you're switching to your hardcore/softcore/anal/gay/bi/animal porn site to rub it off after a hard day at work, and back to the forum, to see if your sarcastic remarks got a lot of abbreviations followed by little yellow laughing faces.

Therefore, people can't usually be bothered to read long posts, cause they have their porn sites waiting on the other tab, or their kid's pulling at their leg cause he pissed all over himself, or their favorite tv show is coming on. So people slowly turned the internet forum idea, into a very slow chat room. You post a message, about 20 minutes later, after you've masturbated, you'll get your answer, and post your next stupid post. People having discussions in one liners, is not necessarily shows anything about their IQ. The discussion itself, like a discussion in the real world, can be three or four sentences each, and still have a high level an thought provoking subjects. People are just not used to sit and read long articles anymore, that's not what they're logging in for. They want their free time to be as easy and relaxing as can be, but still have high level conversations.

By saying that people who don't read huge essays on forums have low IQ you're proving your own low IQ buy a - Making an ugly generalization. And b - not thinking by yourself about everything that I wrote this far. I suggest you find the virtual community that will suit your need in long article-like posts, if that is what sails your boat. But please don't act snobbish and feel superior because you wrote 1500 words about a shitty, mediocre, monotonic band.

All of that ^^^^

Could also be:

Look, not everybody have the time or the patience to read an essay in their free time. That says nothing about their intellect. Maybe more about your own, actually.

If this forum doesn't suit your needs then get the fuck out and don't be a snobbish prick. Shithead.

See?

Couldn't be bothered to read all that.

I will just say that U2> than any band of the last 30 years
