jkdrummer
Well ive decided i need a new guitar and i have been looking around the internet for a while now to decide which guitar i want. I have narrowed it down to these 2 guitars. Both are Goldtop LP style was just wondering which one would be better. From what i have heard the Tokai seems a lot more reliable, better sounding and put together a lot better. So at the moment im leaning towards the Tokai. I dont really have many music shops around here, not for the sort of guitars im looking for anyway. Was just wondering what your opinions are on these guitars ? Or does the Tokai not have the "open book" or "moustache" headstock like a real Gibson? Because those Tokai's are from the 70's-80's are very highly collectible nad are actually far soupirior to today's Tokai's from what I've heard. But I could be wrong. I don't now much aabout them except that. But if it is an old Tokai like I explained than go with that.

AxlisOld
Any Tokai you ever get will be better than an Epi, even Tokai's Korean line. The 70's Tokais are collectible, but not very rare. They're on eBay all the time. Actually any of the big 3 Brands for 70's lawsuits are really good. Greco, Burny (made by Fernandez), or Tokai rule. You can pick a custom copy for anywhere from 500-1000 after shipping. If you can get an Ibanez lawsuit copy with "Super 70's" pickups sound great. Max™
I have a korean Tokai and in terms of build its by far superior to my Epi. However, I believe the Epi has a better feel to it.Have you checked out Orville and Orville by Gibson? They are both made in Japan and you can pick up an Orville for about £300 from eBay. AxlisOld
I can also tell you about the Orville, and Orville by Gibson lines. Both were made by Gibson (obviously) as a way to combat the Japanese influence on the "lawsuit" era guitars. They employed many of the makers of the lawsuit guitars, and if I recall, used the Fujigen-Gakki factory, which was originally used on the early Ibanez, as well as Greco Guitars. Orville was their "budget" line though great quality, Orville by Gibson was the higher end, and came with Gibson USA pickups. Japanese Epiphones are also of amazing quality, before the Elite series (I refuse to try them because of the stupid headstock). Help ya out a little?
