Nicholas
X-factor reject, he's not going to worry GNR on the chart. When he went on tour this year, he played to Student Unions. Not quite ready for Wembley yet.And even if he does beat GNR, who cares? We're already winners for having an album this year. The charts are often more a bidding war than a ranking of genuine sales.I didn't know this, but it's not really surprising given all the dross that gets into the top 10. How do they do this though? Surely the chart has to have some kind of integrity?

To the people who compile the charts, and it's not like they're about to say no just to keep the chart's integrity.Obviously not every band/artist does it, so there is some element of truth in the charts. One example I can think of is the Christmas #1 spot, which is now taken by an X-Factor/Pop Idol etc. winner every year, regardless of any big releases by hugely popular and established artists. I remember one year, the winner got the top spot, the runner up came in at #2 and the Cheeky Girls got #3. Then came all the 'real' artists and bands. You really think outcomes like that reflect true sales figures?

Estranged Reality
Axl anticipated this epic showdown ten years in advance. That's why he wrote Rhiad and the Bedouins. He was too lazy to look up the proper spelling of Ryhdian's name, and when he was watching a rerun of X-Factor ten years later and realized the misspelling had occurred, he ordered Beta into the living room and yelled at her for 25.6 minutes about why the magical orbs didn't tell him this was going to happen. Then he locked himself in his room all night. Edited October 27, 2008 by Estranged Reality
Graeme
So, who the hell is this guy and what is X-Factor?This guy was a contestant (not a winner) ona British "Talent show" called the X-factor, where basically half the country shows up, tries to get involved and the ones with some semblance of talent are collected and through a process of voting and elimination are gradually manufactured into money-spinning pop acts which are guaranteed the Christmas No.1.Actually the only part the show's good for are the untalented people who show up at the beginning which are responsible for some of the funniest moments on TV. JAC185
Oh, so it's kinda like American Idol then.Yeah, we had 'Pop Idol' ages ago, i think before American Idol started initially, but it started getting shit ratings eventually so they just made an identical 'X Factor' which also includes groups.
