I'll break my opinion of the album down into three categories.

Strongest: Beautiful Day, Crash, Killing Me Sweetly, Paralysis, and Missing Cleveland.

The three songs that were already put out are good songs. Missing Cleaveland is almost TOO Bowie-influenced, but not every track is overbearingly BOWIE so it works. Paralysis has some Bowie influence too. Beautiful Day and Killing Me Sweetly are the other two songs that jump out at me as being in top 5. I may even like both of them more than the other three.

Good: Pictures and Computers, She Sold Her System, Be Not Afraid, Big Black Monster, and Blind Confusion.

The first two I listed didn't jump out on first listen, but I've since started to like them a lot. Be Not Afraid doesn't really go anywhere, but it's a cool closer. If it built more towards a big ending it would be in the 'Strongest' category, but it definitely still works like this. I thought it was really good on the first listen. Big Black Monster seems to not be anyones favorite, but I think it's a fun little track. Blind Confusion is so catchy that it makes it's way into this category, not the weakest category. It's a pop song and it has succeeded at getting it's way into my head.

Weakest: Fame, Tangle With Your Mind, and Arch Angel.

I didn't think Scott did a bad job with Fame, despite what everyone else seems to be saying. I'm not a big fan of putting covers on albums. And I'm not a huge Bowie fan to begin with, his music can be very fun though. It just seems having a Bowie cover on an album, which Bowie is a very strong influence, is a bit weird. There was enough Bowie on the album already without this song (like in Missing Cleveland). Tangle With Your Mind just pissed me off on the first listen. The intro is country-ish, but the rest isn't. It's odd, but I don't think it works. Arch Angel is interesting but not memorable. Fame and 'Tangle' should have been left off altogether, but I don't mind Arch Angel being on it.

Overall I'd give it a 3/5. Which to me is a good, solid album. 12 Bar Blues was a little too out there for me, but Lady, Your Roof Brings Me Down is a really good track. I forget most tracks, except for Barbarella, so I should probably give it another listen. Some lyrics on the album threw me off from it.

This is just my opinion and I'd like to hear what others think.

To me, it's too tough to judge this album after 1 or even 2 listens. It's has a very fine taste and should be swooshed around before swallowed. This is not an album that you play at a party, when you are working out, driving in your car, or having sex. These are the type of songs that will grow as time progresses. I need to put on a pair of headphones, lay on a pillow, close eyes and ride on this musical trip. You cannot put in this CD and just play an individual song on this album. It's very album oriented and better digested as a whole.

agree for the most part, but i do think you can listen to some individual songs. i've been listening to a couple of the tracks alone all day, but i do agree it's better as a whole. most great albums are better as a whole though, listen to any floyd or zeppelin.

I've only listened to Paralysis off the new album so far. I'll be sure to pick up the whole album soon. Scott's got to be one of my favourite solo artists to date. I used to have 12 Bar Blues on repeat a few years ago, hopefully the new album will have the same effect on me.

I've only listened to it a couple of times, so I'll hold off making any final judgments. I have a feeling some of the more experimental tracks will need to grow on me the way they did on 12 Bar Blues.

Crash sounds like it should be the next single. Probably the most accessible song on the album and has some great hooks. Blind Confusion is another that grabbed me immediately.

Big Black Monster is boss. I love the lyrics.

The Fame cover is kinda bizarre. Scott's obviously having fun with it, but I'm not sure it really works. He does a great Bowie impersonation though - maybe too good.
