"FUN" in terms of music

I'm sick of people describing 80's rock as "FUN". i.e..... "Cobain took the "fun" out of music.

Memo to you losers...................just because by the time the 90's rolled around, it was then time for you to step into the "real world" and get a job and move out from you parents house, does not mean that the music went from "fun" to "depressing". The life experiences of a 17 year old from the 80's were probably similar to a 17 year old in the 90's. From hair band to grunge did not represent a societal climate change. You can make an argument between the 60's and 90's but that's because there is a 30 year gap. Different cultures.

Get over yourself. :fuckyou:

The Nirvana hate on this board is ridiculously fun.

Trust me, my fair Lithium, my loathing of Nirvana has nothing to do with my love of Guns N' Roses.

I just think the bad was terrifically overrated.

Nirvana: fucking overrated.

Don't judge how good a band is based on its fanbase. Just because there was a boom of popularity for Nirvana doesn't detract how great the band was.

They're a decent band, definitely not great.

I think a majority of Nirvana's success is circumstantial, and they wouldn't be anywhere near as popular if Cobain never died prematurely (relative to his age, not potential).

Yeah, no shit. It isn't exactly a secret that the popularity of most bands where one of the prominent members become "martyrs" reach larger popularity. It has happened with bands like The Doors and Queen as well.

Nirvana are the most stupidly overrated band ever!

Kurt was alright but this whole martyr he died for a generation thing pisses me off so much...

If he had the guts to not blow his head off he would be nothing today...

The best thing him killing himself gave us was the Foo Fighters...

For fun music i dont look for a particular time or genre just something that makes me smile and feel good like John 5 or Bon Jovi...

Kurt killing himself and thus creating a larger fanbase doesn't make Nirvana an overrated band, though. The size of a band's fanbase doesn't constitute how overrated the band in question is. I agree that it's silly hailing Kurt like a God, and the spokesman for Generation X and whatnot, but the man had an incredible musical and lyrical talent.

I agree he had talent...

Just not as much as he is praised for which is why i think he is overrated...

In my opinion I think that yes he had good lyrical talent bit I am unimpressed with his musical talent especially his guitar playing but then again when I will never be as famous as him so who am I to judge...
