U2 have announced the first details of their forthcoming world stadium tour.

The Irish rockers will hit the road on June 30, kicking off the tour at Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium, then continuing through Europe – including four UK dates and a Dublin show – before heading to north America.

Bono and co will play surrounded by the audience on a specially designed stage. See 360.uk.com for a preview of the tour set-up.

Bands who will support U2 at various dates include Glasvegas, Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and Black Eyed Peas.

As well as the dates listed below, the band are set to announce details of September/October shows in Atlanta, Charlottesville, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Norman, Phoenix, Tampa, Washington DC and Vancouver.

U2 will play:

Barcelona Nou Camp (June 30)

Milan San Siro (July 7)

Paris Stade De France (11)

Nice Parc Charles Ehrmann (15)

Berlin Olympic Stadium (18)

Amsterdam Arena (20)

Dublin Croke Park (24)

Gothenburg Ullevi (31)

Chorzow Slaski Stadium (August 6)

Zagreb Maksimir Stadium (10)

London Wembley Stadium (14)

Glasgow Hampden Park (18)

Sheffield Don Valley Stadium (20)

Cardiff Millennium Stadium (22)

Chicago Soldier Field (September 12)

Toronto Rogers Centre (16)

Tickets for the UK and Irish tour dates go on sale on March 20

No doubt more dates will be added at these venues, they'll sell out no problem.

when are they going to retire? they're been singing the same tune for 20+ years now

I find it funny when people on a GN'R forum say things like this.

You see U2 changes style slightly to fit the music scene of the time period. They've changed drastically since their first album, yet they still continue to hold on to their original fans and get others hooked. Mostly everyone likes at least two or three U2 songs, and I'm not saying everyone - but mostly everyone, and I think that's hard to do. It's hard to keep your original fans yet try to find new ones a long the way and I think U2 is a good example of that.

I'm going to change the subject a little bit and switch my focus onto Guns N' Roses since this is a GN'R forum.

Axl was trying to do the same thing as U2. He was trying to expand to different audiences yet keeping his older fans interested, and unlike U2, he had too much of a change between the Use Your Illusions and Chinese Democracy, but its hard to make such a slight transition in thirteen years and with a completely new lineup.

Not to mention that every member in U2 continue to stick together which is remarkable considering how long they've been a band. I think that's pretty cool.

Can somebody tell me why there is such a small number of dates announced? Is it really likely they will be adding dates?

This is a mini-tour for U2 date-wise.

That's definitely remarkable. I can hardly think of any other band of that size who are seemingly as tight with each other as U2. Ok, the Stones are still together, but everybody knows Mick & Keith pretty much hate each others guts.

Basically what I was thinking, I just didn't type all of it.

I'm gonna try to get tickets for the Amsterdam show. But they'll probably sell out in a few minutes.

Same here.

Despite the crappy location and the horrible ticket prices.

I stand corrected on the tickets - 55 euro's for field tix.

Yeah, and the cheapest tickets are only € 30,-.

But what do you get for € 150,-? A place on the stage?

AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, maybe U2. It's gonna be a great music year for me rock3 .

The € 150,- tickets are for the lower seats at the side of the field...

But yeah, I will also try to get some tickets...
