Mr-brownstone Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Anyone into the Album Think Tank by Blur? I don't like any of their other stuff, and even some of the songs on Think Tank, but songs like out of time, good song, caravan are the first rock(ish), or alternative, songs that I have been into for a while. Any recommendations for anything that is similiar to that style of music, and please, don't recommend modest mouse. Quote
dirtylenny Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 i really like Blur although they strike me as a band with a lot of half-ideas... Quote
dirtylenny Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 what do you mean half ideas?Well...they made a lot of really decent songs and...they always seemed to be on the verge of something REALLY cool but it never sort of...came to anything. Or anything that measured up to my expectations anyway. I dunno if i'm making sense but...they were really...necessary for music at the time. Really intelligent and kinda cheeky but nothing seemed to tie it all together. They had a lot more promise than they fulfilled. A lot of people say that about Oasis but i never had any illusions of them being capable of anything more than sorta good decent 3 chord rock n roll but Blur seemed capable of so much more, so much of their matierial hinted towards something truly different but it never really matierialised for me...shame. PappyTron Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Man, I remember the whole Blur vs Oasis debate. I always liked both bands and think that they both have some very cool work under their belts. My friend's father was in the video for Blur's "Country House". Quote
murray_TH Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I really like Blur. Think Tank is a great album, but i prefer 13. I love a lot of the albums from that era. I recently bought Souvlaki by Slowdive which I'd highly recommend. Quote
