Stipemanblue
Billy Corgan said recently in a post at Smashingpumpkins.com that over the next few years he plans to release 44 new songs. Anyway, he's giving updates in advance to his fans about his plans for the future. Over the next few years he's going to release five songs at a time on the internet. At the end of two or three years after 44 songs have been released he's going to put out a box set of all the songs with an art movie included. If you add up the Use Your Illusion albums, The Spaghetti Incident and the song Sympathy for the Devil (everything Guns released from 91 to 94, they add up to 44 songs. It's too bad to hear Axl is having trouble with the only management team that was able to get Chinese D. released. Axl mentioned on the Eddie Trunk interview he had been working on the third album after Chinese D. but I'm not expecting to see any more of the supposed Chinese D. trilogy. For Chinese D. 2 Axl's managers need to get Burger King to offer a free Whopper to everyone in America. Jumpin' Jack Flash
Obviously there is no trilogy..
Stipemanblue
Obviously there is no trilogy..Thanks for your thought but I don't think it's "Obvious." Axl said he was working on a third album of material. That would lead anyone to believe he does care about his music and wants them to see the light of day. The only thing you can ever be sure of getting from Axl is a long wait. Edited June 7, 2009 by Stipemanblue

Estranged Reality
He's been championing the digital single as the "next art form" for quite a while. But he's rather a tool, isn't he? There's a reason he's essentially alienated himself not only from his entire fanbase (read the hostile reaction to his blog entry about charging people monthly costs to access "exclusive videos"), but from the music industry itself (Iha and co. aren't the only ones who have divorced him: his ex record company loathes him and laughed away his ideas about releasing only digital singles when he pitched the concept to them last year). Not to mention his last two digital singles sucked anyway. He manages to exist with a bit less criticism than Axl (perhaps because no one really cares), but he's just as bad. Plus, he's dating Tila Tequila. He's the total antithesis of everything he represented in the 1990s, and that itself is part of the reason his fans have deserted him and his last album floundered. Kickingthehabit
Billy Corgan is the more irritating Trent Reznor, but whereas NIN remained a somewhat compelling act, the Pumpkins aren't even mildly interesting anymore. It's just been one mid-life crisis after another. If Zeitgeist wasn't enough, the fact Chamberlain quit and called their reunion a cashgrab is ample proof that creative well dried up a long time ago..-Kickingthehabit

chevelle
Billy Corgan is a fucking joke these days. Anyone see him rape Bullet With Butterfly Wings in that wrestling commercial recently?

EccoTides
I'm really hopeful that Corgan's 44-song plan produces some quality material, but after Zeitgeist, I'm a doubter. And this is coming from a guy who absolutely loved both Zwan's one album and Corgan's solo record.
