First song has made its way online, and it's one of the catchiest pop/rock tunes I've heard in ages. It's been stuck in my head all day. Download/preview here: http://www.box.net/shared/static/6k11i2gind.mp3

The riff is just ridiculously infectious.

I didn't have much hope for this record because it was kinda announced out of nowhere and I didn't get the impression that it would be very focused, but I dunno, this is better than most of the material on the last actual Strokes album.

It's been a

we've heard anything new from Julian, so i'm looking forward to the rest.

I remember when my sister bought Is This It? back in 01 or 02 and I thought it was the greatest thing my 13 year old mind had ever heard. I've had massive love for the Strokes ever since.

Totally different style, but check out Fab's band "Little Joy" - they're lots of fun (in a different way) too.

Thinking of buying some tickets for one of his shows over here myself, managed to convince a girl I know to go with me so just depends how much they are and if I can organise transport.

Bombed on the billboard 100, number 35, sad really

Top 5 album of the year.

Not really much of a bomb, considering the Strokes weren't exactly a powerhouse band (sales-wise) and he doesn't have much mainstream acknowledgment. I wouldn't think there were very high expectations in that regard. He'll probably sell better overseas where the UK press in particular can't get enough of him (he's seemingly been featured in the last three issues of NME).

It amazes me how a band as good as the strokes arent more recognised in the US.

The US should be proud to have a band like the strokes.

HUGELY influential band that came a long at just the right time, they single handedly changed the way people dressed. And without them the likes of Kings Of Leon, Killers, etc wouldnt even exist. In England there was a huge change in fashion and sound when IS THIS IT was released. What a truly great album.

Im not saying their music was anything new, but the sheer force of the strokes cannot be denied, Their sound destroyed nu-metal and rap/rock.

They're like the fathers of modern indie/hipster, but not as annoying as their offspring.

Probably my favourite rock band of the '00s despite a lackluster third album.
