Vincent Vega Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 HeyAre there any bands (from the 80s/90s) that were similar in sound to GN'R but that actually stayed together and released material through the mid/late 90s?I don't mean older bands like the Stones or Aerosmith, I mean bands formed in the 80s or 90s that sounded similar to Guns. Conor Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I don't know many bands from that time period that sounded like GN'R, I think that's why Guns became so popular, they were quite unique and the last of their time. However, I'm interested to hear any that were. I can think of some similar sounded bands but nothing major.Check out The Answer, one of the best modern hard rock bands. Quote

If you want a band with similar sound to GN'R you're not going to find any that is nearly as good. It's useless. There's a bunch of good-to-very-good bands but nothing that comes close. Quote
LightningBolt Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Tesla is also considered a blues-influenced Hard Rock band (by some) from around the same period, but their sound isn't all that identical. I'm a huge fan from music from this period, and I have yet to come across any with a sound quite like GN'R's. Quote
kaddisonmoore Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) Velvet Revolver?the guitar tone is sooo similar Edited October 9, 2009 by kaddisonmoore Quote
Jakey Styley Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Not really. Guns N' Roses sent rock out with a bang. Quote
Gordon Comstock Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 i'd say you should definately check out Vains Of Jenna... Lizzy's vocals sound kinda like if Alice cooper, Josh todd, and Axl rose were thrown together. but its still unique.... plus its real, down, dirty, rock n fuckin roll! Quote
sr9409 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Skid Row i guess. But ya, Vains Of Jenna are the closest thing to 80's music since the early 90's. Quote
Guest Apollo Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Dangerous Toys had a simliar sound. A little rawer maybe.I always thought they were a little underrated from the era.TeasinMy favorite song by themAnd a canadian band had a GnR feel to them. They had one pretty big album. Tho maybe they sound more like Skid Row. Quote

But it's kinda like saying that Motley Crue sound like Guns...it's not wrong but it's missing the point. Quote
