Guest deleted_19765 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I don't have a cover to supply at the moment, mostly because they would be too numerous, but I'd like to express how much I feel covers are underrated in music today. In the 60s and 70s the line between covers and originals was more blurry, and it had interesting effects. In Soul and Country especially, you simply tried good songs regardless of how many times they had been done. The results had diverse and lasting effects. Today, this "original or die" sensibility has put out music that does its best to deny the past and as such eventually ceases to sound original, and more like anyone who is trying to be hip rather than being it.
