axlskAmpf
In trying to find out how many tracks Dizzy played on in the new Christmas album, lol, I found this. Hope he's ok, and I hope this writer gets spell check to learn how to spell 'cancellation'. Rock legend Ronnie James Dio has canceled an entire UK tour after being hospitalized this week. According to "Classic Rock" magazine, the 67-year-old frontman's wife Wendy confirmed the cancelation. Wendy Dio, who also serves as Ronnie's manager, would not elaborate on why her husband entered the hospital or comment on his condition. Dio's UK tour dates will not be rescheduled. Promoters have asked ticket holders to return to the original point of purchase and seek refunds. The Dio tour was slated to begin this Saturday, November 21st, in Glasgow, Scotland.http://www.xrock1039.com/features/classic-rock-report/3422-classic-rock-thursday-november-19-2009.html
spunko12345
I wish him a speedy recovery. I Cant help thinking that this song is appropriate.Dio has rocked for a long, long time,Now it's time for him to pass the torch. He has songs of wildebeests and angels,He has soared on the wings of a demon. It's time to pass the torch,You're too old to rock, no more rockin' for you. We're takin' you to a home,But we will sing a song about you.And we will make sure that you're very well taken care of.You'll tell us secrets that you've learned. Raow!Your sauce will mix with ours,And we'll make a good goulash baby.Dio, time to go!You must give your cape and scepter to me.And a smaller one for KG.Go! Go! Dio! Dio! axlskAmpf
Hope he's okay. One of the most important figures in Rock music.I know, me too. I still rank those 2 Sabbath albums as the two that meant the most to me, and some of the best writing ever from them. No offense to Ozzy, but they are a part of my youth in a big way. Rainbow as well, again the years with him almost exclusively, I got into after the Sabbath releases. Prayers go out, so far no news is good news... He's been a leading figure of metal since the early 70's there's no denying Dio is important. With that out of they way, I hope he's okay, and that it's nothing serious. Dio is one of my favorite singers, and it's a shame for anyone who had tickets to the shows.

Sure he started that little hand thing, but that's about it.I'd easily say Dio is among the top 3 most important figures in Metal, and Metal is a HUGE part of Rock, so I'd say I'm not really overexaggerating. Implying that all he has to his name is the "little hand thing" just really shows your ignorance, dude.Go listen to Daughtry.

But to claim that Metal has actually any significance in music besides influencing 13yo to not cut their hair wear band t's and act like people, then you're sorely mistaken. I don't hate Dio, but his music is a joke.

Let me see if i can help in the direly needed expansion. Here's a quick few that come to mind right off. Stargazer- studio The incomparably beautiful Lonely Is The Word- studioI looked "Over and Over", should be on this list here. And at 65 years old... Dio has one of the top rated voices in rock history. To say traditional Metal influenced nobody is bizarre as Led Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath are it's roots. Zeppelin mind you. Everyone in what's left of today's "rock world", or even rock-rap, sites Zep as an influence. Edited November 24, 2009 by axlskAmpf

Dio was on fire that night, and I wouldn't even say Sign Of The Southern Cross was the standout song to me, I'd say Computer God and Falling Off The Edge Of The World were much better that night. Yeah I was just picking fav's and searching to post. I'm jealous you got to see em! Ok, let's see what I can do to eradicate this... Ok, I saw Maiden on the World Piece Tour in 83, Quiet Riot opened for them, hey day of the hey day there. I only saw Sabbath once, Born Again tour, as an Ian Gillan fan that was great fun show. Never seen Dio live though.Btw the Born Again tour was the one with the ''Stonehenge'' monuments as the stage line, yes Spinal Taps comedic inspiration that same year. Indeed, I would have loved to see Maiden in the 80's, I'm only 18 and only been able to catch them 5 times, all since the Early Days tour. Heaven And Hell is just mammoth live, they're incredibly tight and Dio is still mindblowing at 67. Seen them every tour so far, and they never disappoint. Monty
RONNIE JAMES DIO Diagnosed With Stomach Cancer - Nov. 25, 2009Wendy Dio, the wife and manager of legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:"Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans."Long live rock and roll, long live Ronnie James Dio."Thanks to all the friends and fans from all over the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up."Ronnie James Dio, 67, has performed with ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, and his own band DIO. Other musical projects include the collective fundraiser "Hear 'n Aid". He is widely hailed as one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal, renowned for his consistently powerful voice and for popularizing the "devil's horns" hand gesture in metal culture. He is currently involved with HEAVEN & HELL, a project which also includes former BLACK SABBATH bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice. Their first studio album, "The Devil You Know", was released on April 28, 2009.DIO cancelled its European tour last week after Ronnie was taken ill. The band's lineup for the trek was supposed to include WHITESNAKE/ex-DIO axeman Doug Aldrich due to the fact that the group's regular guitarist, Craig Goldy, had prior touring commitments with BUDGIE in Australia. DIO's last release was the "Holy Diver Live" CD, featuring a performance of the classic "Holy Diver" album in its entirety, from start to finish, recorded live for the very first time in 2005 in front of a sold-out London crowd.
