inthisriver
He's played it live a bunch, but here's a proper studio version. I'd say I'm about ready for a new SP album especially after Zeitgeist(which I actually enjoyed.) Song For A Son
bt88
The song is pretty sweet, Ive listened to it enough to judge. I absolutely love the guitar solo in the middle. The real issue is that it doesnt sound like Smashing Pumpkins much at all. I know its weird to say this on a GNR forum but Billy should just release this as his solo projectHowever Im glad to hear I wasnt the only one to enjoy Zeitgeist though Edited December 7, 2009 by bt88
KetchupNotMayo
Zeitgeist was pretty damn good I thought, not amazing but definitely a solid album, will have to check this out.

LightningBolt
Maybe I'm listening to the wrong stuff from their work, but this is probably among my favorites I've heard from them.

AbominableHoman
Wow. What a great song. I really like this style of PumpikinsI would suggest Ava Adore for a good song by the band.

eschman
Billy's voice just doesn't work for it.Also, anyone who picks anything other than Zero for their best song is insane. One once popular gem that alot of people haven't heard is their cover of the Cars song You're All I've Got Tonight. chevelle
Wow...I thought Zeitgeist was solid (if not slightly bland), but this song is REALLY good. I wasn't expecting a lot from this new version of the Pumpkins, but if the rest of the album matches or even rises above this track, we're going to have a winner on our hands. This Cd is so great and just runs through my CD player in its entirety. I see it more as one big opera...
LightningBolt
Haven't seen this posted yet, but: I like it. I don't think I like it as much as "Song For A Son", though.

I don't think I like it as much as "Song For A Son", though.Yeah, "song for a son" but this isn't horrible. I wish he'd release at least 2 or 3 at a time so I could really get into them as a group rather than just one at a time, and then forget about it. I know he thinks he may be onto something with the way he's releasing them, but I think he's wrong.

I think he should release the mini EPs or whatever that each song will be available by later on one at a time, rather than the individual songs. Mr-brownstone
I'm surprised you guys like this song so much. Compared the other pumpkins material I found this song to be very lack luster. Cliche progression and a very non-pumpkins sound of production.I dunno, I thought Zeitgeist was good, but it will be hard for him to do anything that holds a candle to the first 4 albums. Pico
zeitgeist is pretty crappy, mostly due to the horrendous production/mixing.that said, the twenty-second solo in "that's the way (my love is)" melts my face.
