We've all got em, albums that upon first listen you didnt like and now they're some of your favorites. Im not talking about ones that you grew to accept or be ok with, Im talking about doing a 180 on an album.

This was inspired as I listen to "Angel Dust" by Faith No More, an album I didnt like at all but now consider it to be in my top 5 of all time. Some albums are just like that, theres a lot to digest or you didnt listen to it in the right context the first time. Anyways, here is my short list and Ill add more as I think of them but Im interested to see what you guys have for this.

Faith No More- "King For A Day Fool For a Lifetime" (I went through this with all their albums)

Alice In Chains- "Self Titled"

Meshuggah- "Catch 33"

Tom Waits- "Alice"

Wilco- "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot"

STP- "Tiny Music From the Vatican Gift Shop"

Mastodon- "Blood Mountain"

Muse - Absolution

Everything from Radiohead

Guns N' Roses - "The Spaghetti Incident?"

Everything from Metallica (I don't "love" anything from them, but I used to despise them and now I think they're alright).

The only one that immediately springs to mind is Radiohead's Kid A. I fucking loathed it at first, but for some reason it still drew me back, and now it's one of my favorite albums, period.

first listen was all like :shock::crazy::thumbsdown:

then slowly it became all like B): rock3:thumbsup:

true story, bro.

I have that with all music by SOD. I really don't know why people like them. A lot of people do, so it's probably me.

Same thing happened with me with Toxicity. At first I didn't get all the hype over it, but now I think it rocks. Songs like Deer Dance, Needles and Psycho took a while to grow on me. Steal This Album is still my favourite album by SOAD though.

Foo Fighters first album, Alice in Chains Jar of Flies are a few that come to mind. Chinese Democracy was one that I did not like much at first. I like it some now but no near as much as the older music by GNR.

I agree Tiny Music by STP was on first listen weird because STP changed their sound a lot. But after listening more it has become one of the great albums. Matter of fact it is a fan favorite on the STP official forum. I did not like Shang La much at first eaither.

I love the first album from The Killers but I wasn't immediately impressed with Sam's Town. Now I've grown to love it and think it's a really strong effort. Many great songs on there. Day & Age was the perfect follow-up and I loved that from the first time I heard it. There's plenty of other albums that I feel the same way about, but that was the first one that came to mind.
