Cdlove Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Metallica's Death Magnetic at #61? how is it possible that Chinese Democracy sold more than them this year, does anyone have any figure numbers?Chinese Democracy STARTS NOW!!!!!
Allen8R Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Metallica's Death Magnetic at #61? how is it possible that Chinese Democracy sold more than them this year, does anyone have any figure numbers?Well, you see, when GNR makes a better album... ...
Naupis Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Metallica's Death Magnetic at #61? how is it possible that Chinese Democracy sold more than them this year, does anyone have any figure numbers?DM came out much earlier in 2008 than CD did, and sold a good majority of its albums then. CD had only 5 weeks worth of album sales in 2008, so it was essentially an 09 album.
mrandyk Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Im pretty sure your stats are a little off. The first two links are to pop artists and albums lists (since when is GNR pop?). So Guns n Roses was the 9th best selling pop artist and Greatest Hits was the 9th best selling pop album according to them. Chinese Democracy being that high baffles me though.

Guns N Roses fall into this category. Most people think "pop" is a genre...or "sound"....sort of like Hanson or Jonas bros. But the truth of the matter is it isn't.
gnr-dave Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Metallica's Death Magnetic at #61? how is it possible that Chinese Democracy sold more than them this year, does anyone have any figure numbers?Because its albums SHIPPED not sold. The best buy total counts as a part of gnr sales even though they are all sitting on a shelf.CD sold 500k in the US but get credit for 1.5m since that is about how many best buy bought.

You are wrong (as usual). First of all, there is a lag in time between platinum status being achieved and platinum certification being awarded. Second, platinum certification is based on units shipped. Billboard chart positions are based on Soundscan.

The Glow Inc. Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I love how MUSE, the supposedly BIGGEST BAND EVERER, sold less from september to today than Chinese did from november 2008 to january 2009 and is quietly sitting at 124 for 2009 and 70 for January and how a certain someone fails to mention it... Just saying, don't wanna start the debate again...
