I love their music and will be interested to see how it turns out. Maybe it'll be album that doesn't have a concept instead it'll be a collection of songs. Looking forward to finding out. Quote

Are they just implying they wont be focusing on the physical C.D. format?I simply dont understand how you could not know who Rush is, they are one of the biggest bands ever. If you have ever listened to prog music, especially Rush's stuff from the 70s, you would understand where they might be going with the whole non-traditional thing. If you arent being sarcastic go check out 2112 and Moving Pictures. Quote

Sure the title track is amazing, but other than Passage To Bangkok, I don't care for the rest of it too much. The total length for the album is a little more than 38 minutes and the title track is over 20 minutes. I do agree with you that everything after those two songs arent nearly as interesting, and Moving Pictures would be the best place to start listening. Quote

moreblack Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I dig their 70s stuff, most of their 80s work was a bit too commercial for me. Didn't help that they were trying very hard to sound like the Police. Quote

The synth heavy material isn't bad I just prefer their other takes. Their songs in the 90s weren't bad either. Roll The Bones is a very good song, Counterparts is a better album and Test For Echo has Driven and Resist. Those guys have never made a bad album imo. Quote

LightningBolt Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I love me some Rush. I always find it odd that the debut never gets any love. It's not as proggy as what came in the second half of the 70's, but there are some great songs on it like "Take A Friend", "Working Man", "Here Again" (one of my all-time favorite Rush songs), and "Finding My Way". Well, anyways, I love everything up until and including Moving Pictures. What came after that is alright, but got a bit too commercial.I'm actually a huge fan of their recent EP Feedback. It has a sound like that of their very early material, probably due to the lack of synthesizers and keyboards and the such, and probably due to the songs being covers of old songs, but it's a great album and shows that Rush never really lost the bluesy roots that they started out with. Their cover of "The Seeker" is fantastic. Quote

Vapor Trails and Snakes and Arrows are wonderful too, Secret Touch, One Little Victory, Ghost Rider, Far Cry, The Main Monkey Business. Heart Full of Soul is wonderful from the R30 DVD. Quote

Easily in my top 5 Rush songs. Feedback is also great in it's own right. There's no real need for Rush to be doing covers, but in most cases they took some classic songs and made them even better. I absolutely love their version of Heart Full Of Soul (And I love the R30 acoustic version even more!) Quote
