hopkins Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 it's rock and roll, what else do you expect?what do you think led zep used to do back in the day?
Spirit Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 couldn't agree more.whining about this is getting real old now.
ohmygod Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 what do you expect, it's a kick ass tour so the haters gotta hate about something...
Guest Satanisk_Slakt Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) I haven't read any whining about them. In fact, I've just read about people being positive that the solos has turned into jams instead of solos. Edited February 1, 2010 by Satanisk_Slakt
ThinkAboutYou Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) I don't mind the solo's because I know it gives time for Axl to restBut I still think it would be cool to do some instrumentals of GNR song's instead of solo'sNot exactly whining just a suggestion Edited February 1, 2010 by ThinkAboutYou
plonker88 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 The instrumentals don't usualy last that long though? As far as I can tell it seems to be the the length of a verse and a chorus,
RNRS Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Would people prefer a 90 minute set with no solos or the 2 1/2 to 3 hour sets we've had on the tour so far! I know what i prefer, solos all the way!I prefer the 90 minute set, it makes it a faster paced show with proper rock from start to finish. Every time the band plays a solo it kills the momentum, and with a set that's as ballad heavy as it is right now the solo's only make the show much slower and make a 2,5 hour show feel like it lasts for hours and hours. A longer show doesn't always mean a better show.
AmyL Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I always liked the solo's and breaks in the songs. Lets you hear what the band is into and gives youj a moment to catch your own breath. lol
D-GenerationX Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 They are pretty boring.Well, maybe not live. But on all my bootlegs on my iPod, I lose them. Unless its an intro that goes directly into a song, that is.
Olorin Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 The majority of people whining about the solo spots and the setlist havnt even been to a show yet, go figure Personally when I seen them live I appreciated the solos cause it gave me and everyone around me a chance to rest from the all the bouncing and dancing, giving us a new energy to throw ourself into the next kickass song.
MicEffecT Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Anyone who thinks the solos are boring or doesn't know what the argument is has been living under a rock. There are a few members here that do nothin' but bitch about "what they expect" It's bullshit. Would ya rather have Axl call it quits? Didn't your parents, or life in general, teach you to be happy with what ya got. Stop bitchin' and enjoy the rest of the tour before it's done! Nuff said!
moreblack Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 what do you think led zep used to do back in the day?depends on the tour/year
jenst Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I suggest people who don't want to discuss anything move over the HTGTH. Over there there's only the choice if something's great or fantastic.I like actual songs more too. For example Tommy's 'solo' moment where he did My Generation, perfect ! Axl can rest, and the crowd can keep rocking. I wish they did more of those.
Conor Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I can understand why people didn't enjoy the "solo" slots in previous tours, but this time around they're "jams", or full songs, which is awesome. The only ones like that we had previously were Beautiful and the occasional Don't Cry. This year we've got Ziggy Stardust, Pink Panther, James Bond, My Generation, Ballad of Death. That's awesome. Bumblefoot/Buckethead mindless shredding with Finck playing god knows what, not so much.

Chris 55 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 it's rock and roll, what else do you expect?what do you think led zep used to do back in the day?If people don't like em, they don't like em. You're just gonna have to deal with it.
Guest Sweet Tooth Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I'm not hating on solos and jams, I love 'em... fuck, I saw them play Pink Floyd! I think people are just tired of hearing these bits of music labelled as another song in the setlist.
GeorgeGlass Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 it's rock and roll, what else do you expect?what do you think led zep used to do back in the day?Yeah but unlike Zeppelin, GNR have a bunch of nobody's playing the instruments so nobody cares about them and their stupid solos.

MicEffecT Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Does anyone know why they do jams/solos. There is a reason. 1 was mentioned early by a smart person. To make the show longer 2) It's a tuning and timing session before the next song. Like Ballad Of Death into Sweet Child O' Mine. It also gives Axl more time to rest when there's a solo. Take a piss, get a drink, costume change or maybe breathe... Trust me. If solos get taken away, the shows will be less than 2 hours in most cases. Enjoy whatcha got!
Demon Wolf Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) People actually complain about this? Axl needs time to rest his voice so he doesn't blow it out, not to mention the solos and jams are good. Especially on this tour when each solo spot is a song/instrumental instead of just guitar wanking like in previous days. Edited February 1, 2010 by Demon Wolf
John Bonham Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I hate it when people say "whining."I have 3 little kids at home. Whining is a sound.Text does not equal whining. That's a jarmo-ism, and I wish people would stop using it here.
Demon Wolf Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 It doesn't only stand for the sound, it also means "a feeble, peevish complaint".
